Things I Want to Tell Myself
1. First of all, congratulations on making it this far. Think of all the times you told yourself that you were done and that you were going to give up. I know it might sound silly to say, but your old self definitely thanks your present self for sticking through everything. There is so much more in store.
2. That being said - pace yourself. Don’t be in such a hurry to grow up. You don’t want to look back and think of times you should have slowed down or times you wish you relished more because you didn’t realize how meaningful those moments would be. You’re going to want to be this young forever.
3. Stop comparing yourself to others. You better learn by now that everyone travels at a different speed. Just think about it. Some people literally grow quicker than others - it doesn’t mean they’re any better. You’re going to grow to be who you are supposed to be.
4. Choose happiness. People always tell you to do what makes you happy, so why should you do anything other than that? If it hurts you, don’t hurt back. If you’re upset, find something that won’t give you that feeling. Find your inner happiness and grow into it.
5. Finally, surround yourself with people who love you just as much as you love them. If anyone treats you less than you deserve to be treated, consider them now as someone in your past. People that care about you deserve just as much if not more care back. You know who you need and who needs you back. You know who you can truly count on. You know who you really need. You know who deserves to be in your life. Keep them.
