John and Karkat is my OTP and I come up with story ideas for them ALL the time. I am a writer but, unfortunately, I am unable to write Karkat. His speech patterns are difficult for me. I made this blog to post these story ideas in the hopes that some Johnkat shipper out there will adopt it and turn it into a beautiful fanfiction that I can enjoy. Anyone who wants to can takes these ideas. You don't have to ask. I only wish that you will send me a link to it so I can enjoy it. My personel tumblr blog is demisexuals-unite. I have 2 separate tags for the posts. There is "longer storys" for the posts that have story ideas that could be made into a chapter-length fanfiction. "Shorter storys" is the tag I use for the story ideas that would not be very long when written. Maybe only a few pages at most. I will try to make a post everyday. I don't know how to make the different tags list.
John and Karkat are both amazing dancers who try out for and successfully enter the "So You Think You Can Dance?" competition. At first, they don't take notice of each other because they are both focused only on the competition.
Karkat has worked his butt off his entire life to get to the point he is currently at. Karkat had started dancing but then an accident kept him from it for years. He was told he would never be able to dance again but he worked his butt off to prove them wrong. Everyone knows that Karkat is not that great at expressing himself verbally. He comes off as aggressive and mean and people don't like that. Karkat fell in love with dancing because it was the only way for him to truly express his feels. He didn't have to worry about getting tongue-tied or about saying the wrong thing. He puts his heart and soul into dancing.
The problem is that John does not have the same passion for dancing. He has pure natural talent. John only likes to dance in his free time and he doesn't really care for it. The reason he joined the competition is because one of his friends (im thinking Dave) dared him to audition and see if he could get in. He wasn't expecting to make it. When he tells this to someone, Karkat overhears and he gets BEYOND pissed off. Karkat makes sure to avoid John as much as possible. Fighting could get them into a lot of trouble and possibly kicked out of the competition. Karkat has worked too hard to get kicked off now so he makes sure to avoid John. John notices that Karkat is avoiding him and he tries to talk to him but Karkat continues to avoid him. Then comes a day where John corners Karkat and Karkat explodes at him. Karkat just ended up insulting him and yelling before stalking off. John still doesn't understand. He and Karkat have never really talked so he can't figure out why Karkat would hate him like he so obviously does. This aggravates and angers John so he begins to hate Karkat, too.
During the competition, everyone is paired up randomly with a partner and a genre of music to dance to each week. In this story, trolls and humans live side-by-side and always have so sexism doesn't exist. My reason for stating this here, is that typically, dancing partners are paired up female to male. But in this, competitors have just as likely a chance of getting a female or a male partner to dance with. John ends up pulling Karkat's name and they have to perform a Salsa together. Salsa involves a lot of fast foot and waist movement.
During the first day, their instructor begins to teach them the steps and they completely avoid talking to each other. Both of them are having a crap ton of trouble trying to get it and nothing is working. The instructor tells them that they need to look at each other, communicate, and work together or this is not going to work. He has them try it again. The music plays and they do the first few steps. This is the first time they are looking at each other. They are staring into each other's eyes and just radiating this vibe of "I hate you and don't want to do this". Their faces are very close because of the position that the dancing has put them in. As they dance, Karkat tries to purposefully make John screw up. John counters this with a move of his own. So they are both dancing together to the music but now they are no longer following the choreography that the instructor had set. It's like they are dueling using dance and they just fly about the room. Karkat is putting all of his frustration and anger into this dance and John is matching him. To people watching, they are dancing so perfectly in sync that it looks like they had practiced it beforehand. They match each other perfectly, step for step. Each trying to out do the other. When the music stops, they both freeze in an attempt to catch the other unawares. But because they both do this, they end up still syncing perfectly. They both just stare at each other and try to catch their breath. Their faces are close together again because the position they are in has John with his one hand around Karkat's waist and kind of dipping him back a little bit and John bent over him slightly. They are pulled together with their chests pressing against each other so they can feel the other person trying to control their breathing. Nether of them know or understand what is happening. They are both exhausted, emotionally and physically. They end up staring at each other with unreadable expressions until the instructor interrupts.
He scolds them for not even trying to stick to the choreography. Then he tells them that if they were to perform on stage as well as they just did, then they would have no trouble in winning the competition.
The instructor has them take a quick bathroom break.
I don't remember what happens next. I had this all planned out in my head weeks ago but this is all I can remember.
The ending would go something like:
John learns about Karkat's accident and determination to continue dancing. So this inspires John to actually put some effort into his dancing. The week that they are paired together, John has fun dancing for the first time in quite a while. After that, John tries extra hard and puts even more effort into his dancing and he and Karkat get to the end of the competition together. Where John wins and Karkat gets a close second place but John pulls out of the competition right after they announce his and he gives it to Karkat because he thinks Karkat deserves more than him.
Up to that point, there had a been a lot of sexual tension between them but when John did that, Karkat realized that he had fallen in love with John. At the same time, he is a little angry at John for doing something so stupid and he tells him as much backstage afterwards.
But John insists that Karkat worked harder for it and really deserved it. Karkat insists that John won it fair and square and that he didn't need John's pity. So they kind of argue over that until it is decided that they will determine the true winner through a final dance-off.
They decide to have this final dance be the salsa since that was their first dance together. They begin and John is purposefully trying to lose but Karkat won't have any of it. Karkat then tries his hardest to tick off John but it doesn't work. Then Karkat makes one last attempt and he tells John that "You are just going to give up. I knew you never cared about dancing. You don't deserve to have all of that talent." etc.
That was a little of a sore subject with John since he didn't like dancing before but now he does. John now thinks that Karkat thinks that he doesn't like dancing anymore. So now John thinks that Karkat hates him for it. This angers John and he decides to prove Karkat wrong.
So John begins to actually try and win their little dance-off. And then he wins. The first thing John does after the music stops is kiss Karkat.
So I have the beginning and the ending but I forgot how the middle goes.
I have been thinking about how each God and Goddess would have something they rule over. Like Rose being the Goddess of Light.
My headcanon is that everyone would have at least 2 things they rule over. The first will be their aspect but since every character shares their aspect with at least one other person, they have another item they rule over.
For example, Rose is the Goddess of Light and Scripture/Books while Aranea is the Goddess of Light and Learning.
I have a specific reason for why I chose the things I chose. Some may not be so obvious.
For example, Vriska is the Goddess of Light and Commerce. But, because she is the thief of light, thieves and pirates pray to her in the hopes that they will take the fortune (light) of the people they rob. And so, Vriska became known as the Goddess of Light, Commerce, and Thievery.
Another example, I made Kanaya the Goddess of Space and the Protector of the Day. The troll and human gods used to be seperate. The trolls were the only ones who worshipped Kanaya and Kanaya was the only troll who lived in the daylight. Because of this, she became the protector of the day.
Since I had a protector of the day, I wanted a protector of the night as well. It took me a little while to figure out who but I think I have the perfect person. Mituna is the God of Doom and the protector of the Night. I did this for several reasons but the biggest, is that Mituna had saved everyone in canon. Nobody believed him that disaster was coming, nobody was there when disaster struck (except for Kurloz but he doesn't count), and nobody knows what he sacrificed to save them. I thought it fitting that he would be a protector.
Final Note: what each character is a ruler of varies a bit depending on who is worshiping them.
For example, To the trolls, Meulin is the Goddess of Heart and Quadrants. To the humans, Meulin is the Goddess of Heart and Love.
To trolls, Nepeta is the Goddess of Heart and Cats. To humans, she is the Goddess of Heart, Cats, Marriage, and Fertility.
For the list, I am not going to include their aspects because we already k now their aspect.

so I'm going to put it under a read more
Karkat and Gamzee were roommates back in college. They have moved on with their lives but they have stayed in contact over the years.
Gamzee now lives with his matesprite (insert your favorite Gamzee pairing here, I am going to use Tavros). Karkat had moved in with his long-time girlfriend, Terezi. She falls for someone else (insert your favorite Terezi pairing here). So they break up and Karkat has to move out since it was her house originally.
Karkat doesn't want to stay in the city he has been living in for the last several years because there are just too many memories of Terezi. Gamzee and Tavros live in a small city further south so Karkat asks if he could move in with them until he gets a place of his own.
Karkat moves to this new town but instead of exploring it, he stays in the house all the time. The only people he knows are Gamzee and Tavros and they keep trying to get him out of the house so he could meet new people.
A carnival comes to town and Gamzee drags Karkat to it with him and Tavros. Gamzee really wants to ride the roller coaster but Tavros is a little scared. Gamzee convinces him to ride it and they force Karkat to join them.
When it came to seating, Gamzee and Tavros made sure to sit next to each other but that left Karkat with an empty seat next to him. Which is where John comes in.
John and grown up in this small town. All of his friends were online so he didn't have any local friends. He loves carnivals and had come. Being all by himself, when it came to the rides, he was a single passenger who could fill in spots.
He ended up getting the empty spot next to Karkat and he tries to befriend him. Karkat tries to ignore John at first as they wait for the people running the machine to finish checking everyone's lap bars. John tells about how he loves roller coasters because it feels like your flying. Karkat gets irritated and yells at John. Karkat is angry at how happy John is when his own life sucks.
When the coaster gets going, Karkat is terrified but John is having so much fun. Karkat grabs onto the nearest living thing for dear life, which happens to be John.
After the ride, John is exhilarated and keeps talking excitedly. Karkat kind of acts like a cat that has been spooked and he is very tense and wild eyed. John laughs at him which helps Karkat recover enough to get angry at him. Karkat storms off to try and find Gamzee and Tavros since they had just gotten off too. John follows Karkat and ends up meeting Gam and Tav who befriend him. When he tells them he came alone, they invite him along which only agitated Karkat more.
The four of them all have fun at the carnival and Karkat couldn't wait to get rid of John.
Karkat spends the next several days moping about the house again until Gamzee and Tavros force him to do something productive. Karkat had been wanting something from the store so they had told him "Go get it yourself" and so he was forced to do that. They weren't going to get it. Before he leaves, they give him the shopping list and tell him that he might as well get everything while he is gone.
Karkat complains but he eventually does it anyway. He begins shopping for groceries when suddenly, John shows up. John gets to talking and Karkat gets more irritated and wants him to leave and tells him as much. Gamzee and Tavros had told John that almost everything mean thing that Karkat says, he doesn't actually mean. So John takes Karkat's insults has him being....himself and he doesn't get offended to anything.
Karkat eventually gets everything he needs and leaves as quickly as possible to get away from John.
A few more days pass before Gamzee and Tavros kick Karkat out of the house again. Gamzee doesn't filter what he says so he basically tells Karkat that he and Tavros want to have some "alone" time and that Karkat being at home all the time is cutting into that.
Karkat takes the not-so-subtle hint and leaves. He doesn't know where to go but then he comes across the library. He decides to look in their movie section and see if they have any good RomComs. He spends quite a while there mentally critiquing different movies when he bumps into John. He had been so focused on his movies that he didn't notice John was there and he literally bumped into him.
John sees what movies Karkat is holding and Karkat sees what movies John is holding. They both end up in a kind of argument over which movies are good or bad and over what genres are good and stuff. They end having having this rivalry over movies.
John tells Karkat that he will prove his movie choices are better and Karkat tells him that he can't. They are both really enjoying themselves as they talk bad about each other's movies. Eventually, john decides to prove his point and he has Karkat come to his house where they have a movie marathon.
All the while, they are pointing out the good and bad things about the movies they watch and they have a lot of fun. Though Karkat would never admit it.
John says he wants to do that again because it was so much fun. Karkat says something like "You had fun when I bashed your movies? there is something seriously wrong with you". Karkat wants to do this movie thing again because he had fun but he won't admit it. Instead, he tells John that he had fun proving how wrong John was and he would gladly do it again any day.
So they do.
They end up with this schedule. They would get together certain days of the week. One day, they would only watch what Karkat put in. Another day, they would only watch what John put in. Another day would have them switching movies.
There are some movies they end up agreeing are good movies. Some movies they agree are bad movies. Overall, they disagree over whether a movie is good or bad.
This goes on for quite a while and Karkat warms up to John.
I haven't thought it through completely but I want something bad to happen to John. Then Karkat would be worried sick and trying to help. John would say something like "I thought you hated me." Karkat would say "how could you think that? We are friends."
So they get even closer. Karkat knows he is beginning to like John a little too much but he believes there is no chance of John ever reciprocating his feelings. First, he thinks this because he has a very VERY low opinion of himself. Second, John is "not a homosexual".
One day, they are watching one of Karkat's RomComs. This movie is one of his favorites and it is really sad. (I don't know what movies to do for most of these but I think Titantic would be good here). Karkat smiles at the happy parts and cries at the sad parts. John doesn't watch the movie at all. Instead, he watches Karkat. He doesn't realize he is doing it and he doesn't realize that he likes Karkat. Once the movie ends, Karkat turns to John to see what he thought about it but John is giving him this really intense look.
John moves closer without thinking and he kisses Karkat. After he moves away, only then does John realize what he had done and he freaks out. He apologizes and asks Karkat to leave.
Karkat is so confused. He thought John likes him because of the kiss but now he isn't so sure. You don't kick someone out after you kiss them. Karkat gets angry and yells at John before leaving.
John spends the next several days trying to figure out his feelings. He consults his online friends on what to do. It is only because of them that he realizes that he might not be "completely heterosexual" and that he likes Karkat. He decides to confess all of this too Karkat and hope it is not too late.
Karkat, meanwhile, came back crying. John kicking him out had reminded him of Terezi kicking him out and he just couldn't handle it. Gamzee and Tavros think it best that Karkat not stay there any longer. Since it is a small town, the chances of meeting John in public were high and they didn't think Karkat could handle that.
So Karkat leaves to live with Sollux instead who lives far away from Gamzee. John had not had any contact with Karkat, Gamzee, or Tavros since the incident so he hadn't known about Karkat leaving. When he does get to Gamzee's house, they tell him about Karkat leaving.
John contemplates whether it is worth it to chase after Karkat since he is so far away. But then he mentally slaps himself and says Karkat is completely worth it so he goes on a road trip. It takes about 2 days for him to get to Sollux's house.
When he arrives at the front door, Sollux asks who he is. John introduces himself and says he is looking for Karkat. Sollux knows who John is and what John had done so he doesn't let John in to see Karkat. John begs and pleads. Sollux questions him about how much he likes Karkat and how devoted he is too having a relationship. John wants to know why and Sollux tells him about what had happened to Karkat with Terezi. He tells him about how they had been together for 2 years and Karkat had been thinking about proposing when she dumped him.
Sollux doesn't want Karkat to get invested in another relationship that has a high chance of failure. Wit new conviction, John says that he has no way of knowing how their relationship would turn out. You can't see the future. But he says that he would not just kick Karkat out and abandon him.
Sollux finally lets John inside where he finds Karkat only just beginning to unpack his stuff. John makes a really big, elaborate, and completely dorky confession and begs Karkat to give him a chance.
Karkat just can't say no after all of that.
And yeah. That ended up being wayyyyy longer than I thought. I think i accidentally painted Terezi as a bad guy in this story. I hadn't meant to. I love Terezi. I just needed her to traumatize Karkat. Even that sounds evil. Oops.
I wanted to have both humans and trolls but I couldn’t make the story fit because of the way trolls reproduce. So all the trolls are going to be human in this story.
I got this idea after watching the Lion King 2. Most of it is based off of that movie with a few other ideas of mine thrown in.
So there is a tribe of humans that live in the savannah. Their ruler was a tyrant who cared only for themself. This person had two daughters, Feferi and Meenah. Meenah, being the elder of the two, was raised to become the leader after the current ruler died. Meenah planned to rule the same way her predecessor did, as a tyrant. Feferi did not approve of this and tried to convince Meenah otherwise. They fought about it and they eventually stopped talking to each other completely.
After the tyrant died, Meenah was prepared to step up as ruler but before she had a chance, Feferi took control. Feferi refused to live under another tyrant and told Meenah as much. Meenah felt betrayed and she left.
The villagers were conflicted. Half of them believed that Meenah was the rightful ruler so when she left, they followed her. The other half of the villagers believed that Feferi did the right thing and they stay behind. Feferi still cared for her sister and the villagers who left with her so she divides the land in half. Meenah sets up her own tribe on the half Feferi gives her. They rule side by side like that for many years.
John is born to a villager on Feferi’s side and Karkat is born to villager on Meenah’s side. The village used to be one big family but the split had divided it in half. Feferi made sure to keep communication open between the two sides.
Feferi wishes for Meenah to return and she hates how this has affected their relationship, but she believes what she did was right. Feferi dies of an illness. Meenah, who now goes by the name of The Condesce, tries to take back Feferi’s half. Someone else rises up to take Feferi’s place as ruler and this person hates Meenah. He refuses to give in to her and they have a war. He wins and takes the half of the land Feferi had given Meenah. He banishes her and her villagers outside his lands. He also hates all of the villagers with Meenah because they sided with her tyranny so he banished them too.
Years pass.
John, who was only a baby at the time of the war, is now fully grown. The initiation into adulthood has John venture into the wilderness all by himself to make his first official kill. The hunt can take several days of tracking and stalking. On his second day, John unknowingly crossed the border of their lands. He was too focused on tracking this herd of deer (or whatever the hell lives in the Savannah).
The Condesce’s villagers have been starving. All of the good food stays inside the borders but they are forced to stay outside the borders. Growing up, Karkat was forced to take his initiation hunt at a very early age. It’s only after you pass that test that you are allowed to hunt on a regular basis without supervision. The villagers are starving and they needed as many of the people out hunting and scavenging as possible. Karkat has since become an excellent hunter and tracker. He knows how to creep along the Savannah, undetected.
Karkat’s secret at success was by creeping inside the border and hunting where he shouldn’t. He was tracking the same herd of “deer” that John was when they crossed the border.
It was only when John went to cross the border in pursuit that Karkat saw him for the first time. He became angry at how he is not allowed to cross the border but John can. He decided he was going to ruin John’s hunt.
That night, there was lightning and a fire broke out. Karkat never went to sleep because he was too busy planning so he was awake to see it happen. John had gone to sleep the moment the sun went down so he was unaware of the fire.
Karkat made to abandon the hunt and run for safety when he came across John. As much as he was angry at John, he didn’t actually wish harm upon him so Karkat wakes up John.
John had never crossed the border before so he can easily become lost. With a fire raging and his life at stake, John panics. He doesn’t know where to go or even in which direction home is so he sticks with Karkat.
Karkat leads them into safety far away from the border.
It begins to rain and the fire is put out. They both lie down and get some rest afterwards.
In the morning, Karkat decides to head back to his village. John is completely lost and tries to tag along with Karkat but Karkat tries to get him to leave. John begs him not to leave him alone and Karkat realizes the best way to get rid of John is to show him the way back to the border.
They spend the entire day travelling back to the border. It started out with Karkat ignoring John but John kept trying to get him to talk. John rambled on about the most idiotic things. Karkat actually starts to like John’s babbling. When Karkat finally begins to talk, John doesn’t know how to take his long-winded insults and metaphors. John then figures to just go along with it and he doesn’t take any of what Karkat says very seriously. They talk for the last several hours that it takes to get to the border. Karkat ends up telling John about how hard it is to hunt for food when there is none. John feels really bad for growing up in a place with an abundance of food and water when Karkat has to scrape by with very little.
When they approach it, John recognizes where they are at and he goes to head back home. He lost his supplies in the fire so he would be forced to return from the hunt empty handed. When John goes to leave, he is reluctant to leave Karkat. He had enjoyed their time together more that he should have.
John asks Karkat to come back with him. Karkat is surprised and says “no” without thinking. John insists, saying they have more than enough food and water to go around so Karkat should come with him. Karkat can’t resist the offer of easy food so he agrees to come along, but he is really nervous about how the leader will react.
The Condesce used to tell her villagers untrue horror stories about how bad the ruler of John’s village is. Those stories is all Karkat can think about as they get closer.
John wants to go out and find Karkat but he doesn’t know where to begin to look so he waits for him to get back. Karkat stays out several hours contemplating what to do. He considers just returning to Hell because he doesn’t think he could handle John rejecting him if he were to return to the bakery. In the end, he decides that returning to hell would be the worst thing to do so instead he comes up with a plan to sneak in to get his stuff and his saved up money and sneaking back out. He plans to move to a new city and try and start over again. Karkat completely believes that there is no chance of John returning his affections because 1) John is not a “homosexual” and 2) Karkat believes himself to be completely undesirable so there is no way he would have a chance with John even is John was a “homosexual”.
Unfortunately for him, John catches him when he tries to sneak inside. I haven’t really flushed out how the scene would go but it would end up with them dating.
It gets really awkward between for a little while but then they start to get used to the idea of dating and they really start to flirt back and forth and it just gets really cute. A year passes and John’s father hands over ownership of the bakery to John. Dad still helps out but John is now the one to make all the important decisions. With this new found responsibility, John decides to takes things up another notch with Karkat. He asks Karkat to move into his room.
Karkat understands that more than sleeping will happen in the room if they were to share a bed and he has a metal freak out. He believes John will grow bored of him one day so this step up in their relationship baffles him and he is not prepared.
John gives him a few days to think it over and when he confronts Karkat about it a few days later, Karkat kind of mumbles his answer but John understood what he said and gets really excited. They begin preparations and moving Karkat’s things into John’s room. That night, as they get ready for bed, things get really really awkward because they both know what is going to happen next.
I want to keep this SFW so all I will mention is that some important plot stuff happens during it. Karkat has been hiding his status as a demon and the concentration required to maintain the illusion slips in times of emotional duress or if he were to lose control of himself.
Meaning, when they both reach orgasm, Karkat reverts from human to demon/angel form. AT THE SAME TIME, John sprouts white, feathery wings. PLOT TWIST.
John’s mom had been an angel but his dad is all human. John is half human and half angel. He has been hiding his own secrets.
Karkat freaks out and begins to panic. The first thing he does is check over himself for burns and wounds from touching John but is surprised to find there is none. Then he remembers that they have been dating for a year and have been hugging and kissing in that time and he has yet to get burned so there is no reason for him to get burned now.
John is just as surprised. He was never told about demons and he has never met one. His father new his mother was an angel so that is what he told John. With his mom having died when he was born, there was no way for her to have told him about demons or fallen angels.
The reason they didn’t burn each other is because Karkat is half angel himself. With all this contact with John over the past year, his wings have turned mostly white with some black still left on the tips. John’s wings used to be completely white until Karkat came along. Now his wings are half black and half white. Being corrupted does not hurt John since Karkat is cancelling out his demon half with his angel half.
Karkat had not noticed the change since he started living with John. The first morning after Karkat begins to stay with John, John had bounded into his room uninvited to wake him up early. Karkat has learned to never let the illusion drop because of John’s habit of turning up at the most inopportune times. This is the first time Karkat has had a chance to see his own wings in over a year and the change is incomprehensible to him.
John, meanwhile, had learned when he was little to “turn the wings on and off”. He loves to look at them when he is alone in the middle of the night and he has been carefully watching the growing black parts of his wings. It has been worrying him but he could never figure out what was causing it.
When John sees Karkat’s change, the first thing he notices is the wings. He focuses on that and the first thing to cross his mind is “Karkat is like me. A half angel, half human”. John believes this because of how Karkat has black and white wings like him while angels are only supposed to have pure white. Then it registers in his mind that there is more to Karkat than the wings. He ends up staring for a long time, because he doesn’t know what to think.
His entire life, John has wondered about the existence of other mythical creatures. He knows angels are real, but what about demons? Vampires? Pegasus? Satan? Is seeing Karkat’s true form for the first time, John realizes that there is definitely more out there than just angels but he can’t figure out what Karkat specifically is.
I originally imagined the coming out scene differently so I’m lost about how it would progress from here.
I can’t figure out an ending for this anymore. I used to have the story completely different and now I’m lost as how to end it.
It would have a happy ending with John and Karkat ending up together.

So I mentioned in the post that they have the ability to set what will trigger their memories.
Everyone agreed to have emergency settings for when they are reborn. The first, if someone were to die before they regain their memories, they set it to where they will get their memories upon death. The second, they have a safe word.
They did this in case something bad were to happen to their new universe. Let me give you an example.
Say there comes a time where all the nations are at war. The first World War has begun. All of the gods are reborn with no memories at the moment. What should they do? Everyone agreed to have it set where if they hear the word "Skaia" then they will gain their memories back. In the case of the World War, say Jade has already gained her memories back when the war starts and she wants to stop it. She goes out to find the other Gods that don't have their memories and she will say the word "Skaia". They will gain their memories back and help her to stop the fighting.
So here is my new idea.
John is reborn as a human. Karkat is reborn as a troll. The story takes place in a time before technology like the Middle Ages or something. In this particular culture, if a human or a troll does not find a mate/matesprit/husband/wife/etc by the time they reach a certain age, then they will be forced to become the Keepers of the Temples.
Each human and troll has their own individual worshiping temples.
The story follows John. He dies of some fatal disease or of an accident when he was a teenager. He never got the chance to meet Karkat.
He arrives in the lab-thing and begins to look for Karkat on Earth using the computer terminals. He intends to go to Karkat and say the safe word and tell Karkat what happened. He doesn't want Karkat to live an entire life without him in it.
But when he sees a teenage Karkat, he stops and just starts watching. He finds it so cute and he just can't stop watching. The he realizes that he could have some fun with being a God and Karkat being a mortal.
All of the Gods have the ability to make themselves invisible to humans if they were to go to Earth not as a mortal but as a God. So John is not reborn. He just travels down and makes himself invisible. He follows Karkat.
John finds it addicting. He begins to do harmless little pranks on Karkat, like misplacing things. But then when Karkat begins to date, John can't handle it so he sabotages all of Karkat's dates. All of them. John is scared of Karkat falling in love with someone else since he doesn't have his memories.
Enough time passes to where Karkat is forced into becoming a Keeper of the Temples. Which temple people get assigned to is random. Karkat had grown up knowing the legends of the Gods. He knows things that are common knowledge, like how John loves to prank people and Jade loves animals.
Actually, on Earth, all of the Gods have something they "rule over". Think of the Greek Gods and how they have Gods for harvest time and wine and love, etc. John is known as the God of Wind and Jokes. Jade is the Goddess of Space and Animals. etc.
There are several of the Gods that Karkat doesn't like because of the legends he has heard but the God he hates most is John. He prays to not be put into John's temple but John made sure to have Karkat taking care of his temple.
There are a lot of old, untrue legends about how a God would dress up as a beggar and go to people and beg for food and money. If someone was generous enough to give it to them, then they would reveal themself as a God and grant any wish that person has.
John gets inspiration from these old stories so he comes to Karkat has a beggar, one day. He asks for a bit of food and Karkat refuses. Karkat feels bad about it and gives John a tomato, saying he is allergic and it would be a waste of food, so why not give it to John. John then transforms into his God Tier outfit and tells Karkat that he is a God who was testing out his new temple keeper to see if they were worthy of taking care of his temple. John then tells him he will grant any wish Karkat has.
Karkat tells him to let him think about it. Karkat understands that his wish will be something irreversible and this is his only chance.
There is an old woman who visits one of the temples everyday. She visits a different one each day and gives thanks to the Gods for having given her life. Karkat has met her several times and has become kind of friends with her. He always makes sure to be polite and he doesn't yell or curse like he usually would. This woman's only child was deathly ill with a disease that is said to be incurable. It has a 0% survival rate.
When Karkat sees he walk into John's temple, Karkat can only think about everything she has had to go through in her long life and he wants to help her. He turns to John and tells him to cure the woman's son.
John reveals himself to the old woman and tells her that when she goes home, she will find her son perfectly healed. She collapses at his feet and thanks him over and over again. There are tears sliding down her cheeks as she continually thanks John. John has never shown himself to a mortal before so he has never had to deal with someone worshiping him or giving thanks to him or anything like that.
He bends down and places his hand on the woman's back and looks into her eyes. He tells her that she doesn't need to thank him. he tells her to just go straight home and spend time with her newly healed son and stop wasting time.
Karkat is surprised by how John acted. He thought the great God of Wind and Jokes had a massive ego and LIKED people worshiping him. Yes, John likes people giving him praise but he doesn't like people actually worshiping him. It is only now that Karkat begins to actually respect John as a powerful God.
This is as far as I got. It ends with John feeling guilty over playing these tricks on Karkat because Karkat has no memory of him. So John tells him the safe word. Karkat is mad at first because John has been messing with him for years. But then John points out that Karkat would do the same to him if they had switched positions and Karkat couldn't help but agree. So Karkat forgives John. Karkat lives out the rest of his mortal life with John there in God form.
When Karkat dies, John cries. He knows that Karkat is waiting for him up in the lab but he can't help but feel sad having watched Karkat die.
John, Dave, Rose, and Jade all go to Paris together for a trip.
While there, John meets and becomes friends with Karkat.
John and Karkat have only known each other for a few days when Dave begins a game of Truth or Dare. It goes around for a while but when it gets to John, he says "Dare". Dave dares John to make a love-lock with Karkat. John and Karkat both protest but Dave says he has to because John chose Dare.
John begrudgingly does.
A week or two later, John and friends to go head back home and they are all saying their last goodbyes to the new friends they have made.
Karkat gives John his trollian username so John can talk to him online after he goes back home.
John ends up spending 90% of his time online talking to Karkat instead of his other friends. Everyone notices and begins to playfully pick on John bu saying he has a crush on Karkat.
John vehemently denies it. The one day, Karkat and John were talking about RomComs and they got onto the topic of their own love lives. John tells him about how his friends have been teasing him about having a crush on Karkat. John then immediately corrects himself in saying they tease him because they BELIEVE he has a crush on Karkat when he really doesn't.
This crushes Karkat because he had been hoping for a relationship but he pretends to be unaffected and laughs it off. They go to talk about Karkat's love life and he admits that there is someone he likes. John asks who it is and Karkat lies by saying John wouldn't know the person so what's the point in telling. John asks for a description of this person.
Karkat tries to vaguely describe John in a way that isn't obvious but as he goes, he gets more and more passionate about it.
Then things get really awkward because John realizes that it sounds and awful lot like him. Ever since that conversation, John has been thinking about what it would be like to date Karkat. John doesn't bring it up to Karkat, though, because he is not entirely certain that the person Karkat had been talking about was him.
A few weeks pass and Karkat has his first trip to see John since they met back in Paris. While there, Karkat accidentally let slip that the person he likes is John. John gets really excited and says "Well, I guess that old Love-Lock thing really works because I like you too." Or something equally cheesy.
John and Karkat had been neighbors for years. They are close friends and Karkat has been wanting John for a while now.
John never thinks about relationships, ever. So it doesn't occur to him that Karkat is a very eligible bachelor.
One day, John comes over to hang out at Karkat's house. While there, it begins to snow and John drags Karkat out into the snow.
John runs around and tries to catch snowflakes with his tongue and Karkat just gets this huge urge to kiss him. So tugs on John scarf and pulls him over to kiss him.
John is shocked at first but then he smiles and kisses Karkat back.
OK I’LL TRY. i’ve got some ideas. Storm-Chaser John, for one! But i dunno, this is one of those fics that would move fast. I don’t have a problem with that. The only problem would be that i wouldn’t be able to come up with enough substantial and satisfying fics at a decent pace. I’m sort of a slower writer— i sort of ferment ideas until i finally get around to actually doing anything.
SO IT WOULD BE COOL IF YOU, LIKE, POSTED UP RANDOM THOUGHTS THAT COULD WORK.
Anyway, i guess i’ll officially try this out. I’ll keep you posted Johnkat dearest.
I had the story planned out a certain way but when I went to type it out, i changed and improved it.
But now, there is one scene that was completely different but with how I changed certain elements of the story, I have to change this scene to match, and I don't know what to do.
It's the biggest, most important scene because it contains when Karkat tells John about his being a demon.
I just wish I had someone to bounce ideas off of to help me with this.
