It's legitimately insane how many people in the Teen Wolf fandom hate Scott McCall for having outrageous and inflammatory thoughts such as "I hope none of my teenage friends are ever forced to kill someone."

People seem to really view Scott as having this dogmatic, unyielding black and white model code. Which, ignoring the fact that "I don't want people to die" is really not the extremist view that some of you think it is, he constantly demonstrates is not true. He'll always argue for an alternative, he'll always try to save someone, to give them a second or third chance, he'll always view redemption as option one - which is a good thing - but he's not so naive as to assume it's always the option.

When Stiles tells him the full story about Donovan, Scott immediately accepts it as self defence, because he understands that this is a situation they've only avoided by luck so far. He then says "I thought it would be Malia." This directly tells the audience that Scott not only has long accepted that one of them will take a life one day, but that he's always assumed that it would be Malia - he acknowledges not only that she has the capacity to kill, but also that she is the kind of person not to draw that line in the sand. And he still defends her, laughs with her, loves her.

Anyway, the point is that Scott isn't nearly as one dimensional or naive as the fandom paints him. He's just a teenage desperately trying to do the right thing.
