I know I'm not super active here anyway LOL but I thought I'd make a notice post about my brief leave of absence. I have not been vaulted into a void, I'm just going on a trip and won't have access to my pc or wifi, so I won't be active here for about a week. The good news is while I don't have internet access, I'll probably be less distracted and make more art, so when I return I'll have an art drop ready.

Additionally, I have about 70 pages to staple, so I drew a sad little cat going through the same conundrum.

I've been at the introduction of the village in my game for awhile now, but I realized something was missing. Went back and circled back over my world (and character) building, and now I'm so excited to get back to it. I have a pretty clear idea of who the main character is, since I've given them better emphasis to now parallel the other most important character.

I think the world is actually somewhere I'd like to live now. It bears similarity to North of North from Bella Sara. And the trees turn pink in autumn. I am happy

Where do people typically find their beta readers when developing interactive fiction games? I'm planning on going through people I know Irl of course, but if anyone could share where else you might find people I'd be so grateful.

Tutorial: Coding Pronouns and Verbs in Twine SugarCube

I have seen in different places that people who start using Twine to write interactive fiction and are still unfamiliar with coding in it are struggling with how to code pronouns and verb forms.

This is an attempt at explaining different ways to code pronouns and singular vs. plural verb forms in Twine SugarCube specifically.

If you are using a different Twine story format like Harlowe, you can take inspiration from it but need to see how to transfer the code to your chosen story format. Each story format is coded differently. An explanation about that can be found in the tutorial if you are unfamiliar with the differences.

The tutorial itself is hosted on itch.io and is free to play in browser or you can choose to download the zip file. It's a Twine project itself so you can both see the code used, get an explanation on it, and then see what it does in action for yourself without having to create your own project to try it out.

The project features a dark and light mode as well as the option to increase font size.

The tutorial features different coding commands native to SugarCube, its Template API feature, and a custom macro bundle created by Chapel.

Lately between working on my projects, I've been trying to make my very first Ooak doll :)

Because she's my first I decided instead of worrying about accurately capturing an already existing character or oc, I would just create a new character as I went. My grandmother brought up the concept of a cat girl with two different colored eyes, so I thought I'd base her off that. Here is the concept now that I have her doll's face done!

Was trying to think of something to post when I found this concept. I forgot how much I like her! This is Anise.

She's from a Cairn custom world (game by Yochai Gal, it's a very cool TTRPG check it out!) I made a few months ago that I kind of had just sitting around, inspired by little red riding hood and other similar fairytales. I remember reading the ruleset on growth for the game section where it discussed Heartseeds, I was since then enamored with the concepts of humans who had eaten them and been forever changed!

This is also my first post, hello! I've wanted to get around to this for awhile.
