she looked at him for a second, “so you being sad wouldn’t have anything to do with your boyfriend, would it?”

she pushed her hair off her shoulder, “a guy who’s into powerful women and not afraid of them? that’s hard to find.” she said with a smirk.

“sorry - i don’t take no for an answer. you have no choice.”

“well nice to meet you dallas, i’m jolene.

[jolenelawrence]

“sounds good to me,” he nodded eagerly.

she rolled her eyes and turned her attention to the movie until she got bored again. “i didn’t catch your name...”

“If you’re sure,” he smiled taking some popcorn into his mouth before nodding, “I’m good.”

she took a handful of popcorn and looked at him for a moment before turning back to the movie, “fine, we’ll watch this weird doll movie and ignore all your problems then.”

“You can pick something else, it’s just the first one I saw that I knew.”

“nope. coraline works. it’s great. let’s do it.” she hit play and leaned back onto the couch, propping her feet up on the table and setting the bowl of popcorn in between them. “you’re sure you don’t want to talk about anything?”

“okay,” dallas nodded softly flicking through when he found Coraline, selecting it.

jolene came back a couple minutes later with mixed drinks and popcorn. she handed him his glass and when she saw what he had picked she raised her eyebrows. “that’s a fucking weird choice but alright. you’re in charge.”

“Alcohol and a movie, sure. Sex is something for me and my boyfriend.”

“i can do that, come on. follow me.” she started leading the way to her dorm room. when they got there she let him in and handed him the remote. “pick something out and i’ll get the booze and make popcorn.”

“That’s nice of you but I think I need a distraction more than anything right now.”

“what kind of distraction? alcohol? sex? movie?”

“It’s a long story.”

“well i’m a good listener if you need to talk.”

“I don’t have a dog.”

“okay - so if you don’t have a stolen dog why do you look so depressed?”

“Well I was trying to grade some papers before you wondered in here and puked in my garbage bin.”

“oh, shit - yeah sorry about that. i can move the trash bin out into the hallway if you want.”

“Health concerns for one” he said, simply raising an eyebrow at the other “You dont seem to be able to hold your liquor and I don’t suppose you’d like you stomach pumped?”

“well i’ve never had my stomach pump and i like new adventures so-” she laughed, “you’re very serious, why is that?”
