Regarding the history of ancient Japanese shoes and Kaneko design
Love this post thank you for making it
There's a version of the future where we stop making comics. Then we open our messages and see someone telling us our comic got them through a rough week – and suddenly that future feels impossible.
You reading this right now, you're part of the reason we're still here. If you'd like to make that reason a little more official (and a lot more sustainable), our Patreon is the place:

'Syndicat des Editeurs de Logiciels de Loisir (SELL) - 'Copier, C'est Tuer!''
[PSA] [FRANCE] [MAGAZINE] [1998]
"Is copying killing? Yes—it is killing the talents who invent video games and entertainment software in general. And in a country whose primary wealth lies in ideas, it destroys the investment capacity of those who develop them. It therefore places the very future of creativity in mortal peril.

Nintendo - "Les Nouveaux Défis"'
[NES] [FRANCE] [MAGAZINE] [1988]
"The NES was originally scheduled to be released in September 1987, coinciding with the launch of the Master System, but the shipment arriving by sea from Japan was delayed. Consequently, it was not released until late October 1987 and was distributed by ASD. France received a shipment of 40,000 consoles from Japan for the launch, though only 10,000 units were actually sold by the end of 1987. The console was released in two bundles: the "Control Deck" at 1,490 francs, which included Super Mario Bros., and the "Deluxe Set" at 1,790 francs, which included Gyromite (along with its Robot accessory) and Duck Hunt (along with its gray Zapper light gun). Twenty-seven games accompanied the launch, and a total of around thirty titles were available by Christmas 1987. In France, the console retailed for 1,490 francs—a price slightly higher than the $199.99 retail price set in the United States in 1985 (considering that in 1986, $1 was roughly equivalent to €0.80, making $199.99 approximately €160, or 1,050 francs in 1987). The price disparity between the NES and the Famicom was attributed to export costs and hardware differences between the two consoles."~fr.wikipedia [BMT🤖]

Think of our Patreon like a secret backstage door.
Out here, you get comics. In there, you enter our weird sanctum: comic battles where you can vote, the jokes that were too unhinged to post publicly, and the satisfaction of knowing you prevented 2 artists from having a real job.
The door is open. Come in:
