Jack Matt

UCSC student. Best friend from home. Been roomies for three years. Good cool Surfer. likes emo goth style. Emowussy is his Instagram name. Good taste in style and music. Likes wilden. Used to be super mad all the time in Carlsbad. Likes to make immature jokes all the time instead of address anything serious. Hates talking about serious things likes to just joke around. Just likes to live like this than seriously which I admire and want to do more. Super funny confident and good at slovic/Russian dancing. Loves YouTube and is really good at trivia. Has a cool white lab named fin/loves dog. Has a really cool Tatoo if his dog.

Super happy one day really mad the next. Loves metal music. Feels the need to be equally edgy as anything else he is. Loves music but not playing it. Sings well. Good at screaming. Smart/Econ major. Which is weird considering his artistic like tendencies and taste. Mom is an accountant.

Portraying him in all his different environments doing his thing could be fun and Intersting or maybe more of an abstract approach would be good. I also might be very byast in Thinking he is really cool.

Going back and forth between the scenarios quickly showing his quickly shifting sad to happy to sad to happy.

I see these photos and videos within the PowerPoint as a storyboard and inspiration for a distinctive style of colors and type faces.

I will integrate keying to create backgrounds and keyed objects that jack can interact with.

I will integrate typography by setting certain scenes with phrases or a small amount of words.

I know this isn’t to artistic or good but would really enjoy making a straight forward peace of jack.

Assignment #1

Animation by Andrew Selby gives us a quick and basic explanation of the animation process through the perspective of two of the top Disney animators of all time. We are at one point given a helpful step by step explanation of mostly the “physics” of animation to keep in mind while making an animation. These guidelines will aid me in making more digestible animations.

Design for Motion by Austin Shaw introduces us to the idea of “style frames”. Style frames are used by animators and their teams to create a freeze frame of there production. This frame should encapsulate the narrative, aesthetic, and general ideas of the animation. This although seemingly simple seems difficult yet simultaneously very essential to the animation process.
