ROGUE ONE- I haven’t been this excited since the first teaser for TFA. I desperately wanted to make this right after I saw the trailer but had finish up some Poe Dameron work. It’s all crazy and wonderful.

Various awesome techno-displays in the original Star Wars (1977)
Where the tech in Eps. 1-3 had the problem of needing to look older than Eps. 4-6 despite the films being made 20-25 years later, one of the areas where I appreciated the fan service of Force Awakens was keeping the styles of the various targeting systems and displays consistent with Eps. 4-6.

Before the computing era, ILM was the master of oil matte painting, making audiences believe that some of the sets in the original Star Wars and Indiana Jones trilogy were real when they weren’t. They were the work of geniuses like Chris Evans, Michael Pangrazio, Frank Ordaz, Harrison Ellenshaw and Ralph McQuarrie ! Forever thank you, to their handmade art and the work of their colleagues, that made us dream of impossible worlds and fantastic places across Earth and the Universe.
There are more background paintings on this article, featuring comments by the masters/artists themselves !

Awesome.
I've been getting into woodworking. It's a nice contrast from all the work I do online or with databases. This is a mallet I just finished this morning. It was a fun project to take on. I learned a lot, but it also wasn't so challenging as to be discouraging. I'd love to make a second, larger one at some point.
I had the day off so I made a table out of reclaimed fence boards.
