The precious metal could reach levels not seen since 2013.

Although they deem a Donald Trump victory more supportive for the price of the metal than a win by Hillary Clinton, the bank's Chief Precious Metals Analyst James Steel says it'll enjoy at least a 8 percent jump whoever wins the race. Both candidates have espoused trade policies that could stimulate demand, with gold offering a potential "protection against protectionism," he says. Even the relatively more internationalist Democratic candidate has argued for the renegotiation of longstanding free-trade agreements. That's positive for gold — even if "not on the scale of Mr Trump’s agenda."

If the real-estate magnate triumphs, gold could rise to $1,500 an ounce, according to HSBC, up from around $1,289 at 10:55 a.m. in New York.

I was 50 miles or so into one morning's ride, pedaling up an exurban hill, the third hard climb in succession, in the lowest gear, uncharted territory where every stroke pushes you maybe three inches forward.

It must have been quite a sight for the wealthy denizens of rural-ish New York, to look outside the windows of their rumpus rooms to see a tall gangly weirdo in aerodynamic spandex drooling and swearing at himself as Porsche SUVs and ants raced past. The only solace I remember feeling was the knowledge that, were I to eventually fall over, not quite dead but already locked in rigor mortis, I'd at least live out my final moments on someone's plush lawn.

I should say right away that this story, nominally a bicycle review, started with a Facebook post. My recent 29th birthday coincided with an increased consumption of mountain bike magazines and the realization that, thanks to the years I’ve lived so far and the coming slow decline of my body’s general condition until my eventual death, I’ve only got about 10 good years of legs left. I have woken up every day for the last three months terrified that I am going to be too old to ride bikes well by the time I can afford them.

Today we are changing the name of our company to Snap Inc.

It has been five years since Bobby and I started working on Picaboo, the little app that became Snapchat – and we’ve been so lucky to build an incredible team that has continued to expand upon Snapchat and create products like Stories, Memories, Lenses, and so much more!

When we were just getting started it made sense to name our company Snapchat Inc., because Snapchat was our only product! Now that we are developing other products, like Spectacles, we need a name that goes beyond just one product – but doesn’t lose the familiarity and fun of our team and brand.

We decided to drop the “chat” and go with Snap Inc!

Changing our name also has another benefit: when you search for our products it will be easier to find relevant product information rather than boring company information or financial analysis. You can search Snapchat or Spectacles for the fun stuff and leave Snap Inc. for the Wall Street crowd :)

We hope that this change will improve your experience with Snapchat and Spectacles, and create a structure that allows us to continue making great new products for you and your friends!
