It was my first time giving a @Photoshop class with at the same time: • using an online classroom system (my student Leila is from New York) • in French AND English (Leila is bilingual: she was born in France but moved in the USA +30 years ago) • with additional software @eztalks so we shared each other's screen Our class was about how to incorporate/ import a logo into an existing image for a dog kennel business that Leila owns. Day #302. This is a photo from my street taken a few hours ago. Title: The Last Leaves Subtitle: Violent Vampire Colors Author: Jonathan Charpentier Date: Oct. 29, 2017. Thank you to Terrance my new neighbor who showed me that spot in his favorite tree. Today was hectic. But I had a 30 min break and met new neighbors. I took pictures of my neighbor Jarren and her doggie Daisy. Still working right now. Probably until midnight. I spent my weekend editing, organizing, and preparing final deliveries for events, documentaries, portraits, weddings, fine art. Tuesday morning I am flying to Houston Texas for a wedding. Day #292: Autumn Breeze on the Mississippi River. Indian Summer Blue Hour. 💙🍁 I love the Mississippi River. I love Fall colors, and the moody blue hour (after sunset). In this photo we have all 3 at the same time! This is part of my ongoing series: Portraits of Fall, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Real story: this photo was taken during a portrait photo session with Taylor, violonist and opera singer. We had a 5 minute break for hair adjustments and jewelry change. 🎼💍 I was looking for the best colors for our background. I saw this beautiful scene, pointed, shooted. I used the same exact settings as for the portraits. No tripod, no long exposure, no HDR, no quadruple exposure. Just 1/80s at 2.8. ISO-1600. Focal length 200mm. Not at all the settings advised for landscape photography. These are classic portrait settings. Natural light. At 6:16pm it is already very dark right now. This is why it feels like the blue hour here already (after sunset). This weekend and in the next weeks I have portraits and family photos planned. I feel it is the perfect moment with all these fantastic colors given to us by Mother Nature.👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 If you want your family pictures done, contact me. THE BIRD (Rule of Thirds) •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 📷: Photo by Sue Fish http://facebook.com/suefish •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Quick interview with the author Sue Fish: The premise of this photo is what I find interesting. I was simply following Mike’s challenge to look for examples of the Rule of Thirds. Each section of this photo is exactly one third of it, the vertical lines run right down the lines where the buildings meet the tree. The top horizontal third line runs below “The” and above “Bird” on the sign, too, so it follows the Rule of Thirds that way, too. I really enjoyed the photo walk. It was the first time that I’ve interacted with other photographers at that level, and it was really interesting, informative, and - best of all - FUN! •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 📸We asked Sue about her experience: As for my photographic experience, I started young, thanks to my parents. They had several years worth of National Geographic magazines in a bookcase in the basement. I remember looking at the pictures, because I couldn’t read yet, so I was just looking at the pictures. I remember how much I loved them. When I was older, I used them for school projects, anytime I had to write about anything. I would page through and pick out something, usually about animals in Africa, and write an essay on it. I remember thinking that I wanted to be a National Geographic photographer, and live on the Serengheti Plains, study, photograph, and make movies of the animals, with special emphasis on zebras. I got my first camera at about the age of 12, took a photography class in high school, and from that was recruited to be a photographer on the newspaper and yearbook staff for the second half of my senior year. But, other than a short stint at a local photography studio, Olin Mills, I have just done it on my own. Title: I thought I knew it all. Taken during our last @mplsphotoworkshops at Loring Park. The event was full, it was so cool! Great photographers came to practice with us. See link in bio to join the meetup for the next events and see more photos (http://meetup.com/mplsphotoworkshops) The survivor group made it to the bridge across the highway of Mordor (highway 94) between Loring Park and Sculpture Garden. Instead of driving in construction I decided to experiment light painting and dance with LEDs. People went to talk to me and asked me what I was up to! I ended up with 3 new friends. I even took pictures of them (scroll to the right, this post has infinite pictures). Of course they told me their names and I was so tired I did not take notes. 🔥UP AND HOT! Take that Fall! 🍁1st picture of Fall season from this morning after I dropped off the kids to school. Gravity is upside down here. The ground is up, the sky is down. 180°! It is always fun to try to rotate the photograph 180° to see if the composition is still holding and strong! 💪 Very long day and very fun! I had great meetings in Minneapolis and 1 new photography student with a 2 hour practice. I went to Richmond, Wisconsin, to shoot 5 family portraits in the most beautiful garden. The kids were so cute. We finished with a great group picture of everyone in front of the enlightened red barn. It was magical.
