#excusemymuse there is a common deception we share...we think that we are frightened by mystery, afraid of what we can't 'know', quantify or qualify...when in actuality, we are haunted by history...hunted by what has been.

#excusemymuse I have discovered that wonder can be found in the plain and normal (and thus incredible) realities of life. if we are aware, wonder can be found most often in the miracle that is the ‘common thing’. the breathing, the living, the eating, the loving, the walking, the seeing, the quiet moments with those we love, the painful moments in the darkness of our dungeons... all of these...they ache, they sigh, and they whisper sacred songs under the weight of His glory.
#excusemymuse this post popped up in my memories feed. what a glorious reminder of the beauty of the journey: {My view for most of this day. A day to recover and a day to remember. It is a day of tears. What is interesting is how uncomfortable most are with them. 'It's ok!' 'Don't worry!' 'Keep praying!' they say. But what I have come to know is that tears summon the King of heaven. They are the expression of wonder, of longing, of truth and of hope...even when they are born in pain. For now, I give them freely. And wait with expectation for the day when He will dry every tear from my eyes. Grieve not for eyes that give tears, but rather for those who have not known love and life enough to shed them.}

#excusemymuse in the deepest places of our hearts is a longing to live a life of passion and purpose...one of adventure. and yet many of us don’t. some of that stems from a common shadow: that we are all haunted by the idea that we might be insignificant, that we might not matter. and somehow, we also know that a life lived reined in by the fear of loss, hemmed in by a need for control...is a life lost. there is a knowing...in those deep places...a knowing that God designed us for a life filled with profound moments and wonder-full adventure, found both in the holy ‘everyday’s’ and the crazy ‘one’ days. what happens to so many of us? why does it feel like we have relinquished the right to be the author of our own story? why do we settle for a tale that is told by the naysayers, the bitter, the defeated and the angry voices of jealousy who are haunted by who they could have been when faced with who we are becoming? these sad prognostications, chanted by broken would-be prophets, tend to grip us most in the moments we realize that the life we dream of is the child born of parents we are taught to aggressively avoid: great risk and significant cost. don’t give in. ask the hard things and climb...because the questions we wrestle with today become the battle grounds of belief for tomorrow...and these hold within them the possibility of what might be.
Sunday. ******************************** How does redemptive movement and the creation ideal change the way we read the New Testament? The ideas of authority and submission as they relate to men and women and the church in Ephesus... we are going to talk about that this Sunday. We'd love to have you over. Join us at 10 am for coffee, Krispy Kreme, and conversations. Featured art by Brian Kirhagis
