ranking the best things I have heard surgeons say mid-surgery:
1. "Five second rule!" while scrubbed, after dropping a sterile scalpel on the floor (no they did NOT pick it up again but I swear everyone's buttholes puckered)
2. (spoken during the closing of a particularly long and difficult case) "Nurse - my tunes." :heavy metal starts blasting:
3. Gently to a fretful patient, pre-anaesthesia: "It's going to be okay. I promise, I've dealt with worse." As soon as the patient is unconscious: "This is literally the worst thing I've ever seen."
4. [okay this one was a med student] "Wowwww, that's so gross!!" Reg: "Please remember that [patient] is awake for this procedure." Student to patient: "Oh my god. I am so sorry, that was really unprofessional - " Patient, cheerfully, also engrossed with what's happening inside them on the screen: "Nah - it's, like, super gross, right?"
5. [another procedure where the patient couldn't be put under GA] Patient: *starts singing country roads midway through the procedure* Surgeon: *shrugs and joins in with surprisingly good harmony*
#the beauty of tumblr is that any new show i start i'm able to say oh that's my friend. from gif.
Wimdy
I will say it again:
The LGBTQ+ person who asks Christians to "welcome and accept them without telling them they should change" is openly demanding that the Christians change. From being Christians, to being non-Christians.
Because Christ died to save you from who you used to be. When you become a Christian, you're choosing to change from who you were to who He tells you to be. That is Christianity. To tell Christians to stop talking and behaving like that is what they believe is to not only reject Christianity yourself, but demand that they reject it, too.
Do not listen to any influencer, pop culture icon, or person who says to you that Christians do not love LGBTQ+ people, because they say LGBTQ+ people should change who they are.
Christians change who they are. More accurately, they let Christ change who they are. Thatâs how they became Christians. Truth goes hand in hand with loveâit is not avoiding it. Because love is not anti-rejection. Love rejects plenty of things! Love rejects hatred, self-focus, and lies. So of course Christians who believe in a God that says, âlet Me change you into who youâre meant to beâ can tell you that you need to changeâand that is loving. They love you, and theyâre not okay with leaving you the way you are. Because Christ didnât leave them, the Christians, the way they were.
Don't listen to anyone, "Christian" or otherwise, who tells you different.
"The LGBTQ+ person who asks Christians to "welcome and accept them without telling them they should change" is openly demanding that the Christians change."
Or you could just not say anything.
If a part of your personal action and a part of your faith is not only having a point of view but insisting that other people conform to it then you are always going to meet resistance you are always going to feel like a martyr.
"you're choosing to change from who you were to who He tells you to be."
Yes, another reason why You shouldn't be telling people how they should be.
"To tell Christians to stop talking and behaving like that"
Non-sequitur.
You are placing yourself in the position of Jesus Christ, claiming the authority of God themself to dictate the terms of other people's faith.
That's not "part of the faith" that is the sin of hubris.
"Do not listen to any influencer, pop culture icon, or person who says to you that Christians do not love LGBTQ+ people"
There are quite lierally millions of Queer Christians, they do not believe that the faith is inherently prejudiced.
But you'd be hard pressed to find a Queer person in general who doesn't know that many Christians are.
"because they say LGBTQ+ people should change who they are."
No, You don't Love Queer people when you demean them demand that they change in accordance with your preferences
"Christians change who they are."
Including Queer Christians, you just don't get to set the terms.
You're not that important.
"Truth goes hand in hand with love"
You can share your opinion. You've got one and I do too; but insisting on being treated as an authority is not Love, it is ego.
"Because love is not anti-rejection."
I'm going to do you the courtesy of assuming that you that you mispoke here because this sounds actively evil.
"Love rejects plenty of things! Love rejects hatred, self-focus, and lies."
And your children? Their safety? Any consideration for their souls or humanity?
Do not aspire to explain Love to people who lose so much for it when you are someone who gives it up for so little.
Youâre missing the point of this post. Itâs focusing on the particular mindset that LGBTQ+-affirming/conforming people can also claim to affirm/conform to Christianity. The mindset that they can hold both things at the same time, and that anyone who tells them they canât (including the Bible itself) must be wrong. When in actuality itâs more common-sense than that. You canât claim to be a vegetarian and also eat bacon every day. Then youâre just changing what the word vegetarian means by the way you live, and insisting that people who actually never eat meat let you into their group.
But Christianityâs not a social club. Itâs a worldview. Itâs a relationship with Christ. And you canât have that and have something contradictory to that. Like a vegetarian eating bacon.
If I told someone who loudly proclaimed they were a vegetarian and belonged in vegetarian groups, while talking through a mouthful of bacon, that theyâre not a vegetarian, because theyâre eating meatâwould you say âhow dare you tell that person how to live?â
No. Of course not. Because Iâm not telling them how to live. What Iâm doing is pointing out the nonsense, the inconsistency. That word âvegetarianâ isnât being used correctly. Thereâs insanity going on. You canât belong to a group called âvegetariansâ when youâre rejecting the identifying qualifier of that group.
Just like you canât be a Christian and identify with something Christ condemned. Because being a Christian means dying to your old identity and necessarily exchanging it for His.
I donât know why this is unclear.
This whole argument against my âegoâ for saying what a Christian is and is not falls super flat. Because I didnât invent Christianity. Nor did I invent LGBTQ+ identity. They are two objective realities, whether I agree with them or accurately describe them or notâŠand whether an LGBTQ+ person agrees with them or accurately describes them or not.
Just like I didnât invent the term âvegetarian,â and pointing out that someone who eats meat is not a vegetarian is not me claiming to have authority over the term. Itâs just me stating whatâs already true. No authority necessary: truth has itâs own authority.
Read whatâs actually being said, instead of projecting your idea of my point, or the point you want to argue with, onto what is being said. There is no such thing as a vegetarian who eats meat. Unless youâre warping what âvegetarianâ or âmeatâ means. There is no such thing as a Queer Christian. Unless youâre warping what âQueerâ or âChristianâ means. The point of the original post.
iâve been crying laughing over this for the past 5 minutes
This honestly reminds me of a show on the history channel where they spent like 25 minutes wondering how the sides of all the pyramids seemed to be perfectly divisible by pi or something, and people where theorizing about aliens and some lost form of mathematics, but then at the end they interviewed a tiered looking paleontologist and he was just like âmaybe they just used a wheel to do all their measurements.â and the whole show just immediately collapsed.
can you imagine being so far up your own ass with conspiracy theories that you forget about circles

What do you think of Barack Obama?
Don't really care. I'm not particularly knowledgeable about what he did for the US when he was the president, and currently, he comes across as a bit of a loser.
@theconstitutionisgayculture @anamericangirl @sawbuckplus @billyengland
I'll invite my transatlantic brothers and sisters to help answer this a little better
Topped only by Joe Biden, Obama was one of the worst presidents ever (certainly in my lifetime). One disastrous policy after another. From healthcare, to foreign policy, to social issues he made terrible decisions. People liked him though because he's charismatic and black so they didn't care what he did to the US.
On August 20th 2014 the first episode of Carmilla aired on Youtube
ngl im still kinda stunned how quickly some of y'all got vitriolic and nasty on my playful joke post about protestant pastors. y'all proudly call yourselves christians but jumped on the chance to act smug and dismissive the moment someone showed what you assumed was ignorance. like all jokes aside, some of y'all seriously need to examine these instincts because that was pretty gross.
*rolls up to press conference* *leans into mic* Me: Catholics worship Mary. Next question. #I said what I said #send tweet
If I, as a Protestant, posted that, with the same tags you did, I would have scads of Catholics screaming at me about the difference between "hyperdulia" and "latria" and how dare I speak of the Blessed Virgin MotherÂ©ïž that way. There would be no "it was a joke! Lighten up!", I would be vilified by the pitchfork brigade with smug vitriol and Catholic Righteousnessâąïž.
Your "playful joke" fell flat because your target audience deemed the joke a failure and in bad taste. Take the L and move on.
Rosemary? You mean spicy pine needles?
Are you insinuating that regular pine needles arenât spicy???
Regular pine needles are regular
Not by rosemary standards
âŠHave you eaten pine needles?
Weâve been friends for like four years, do you seriously have to ask if Iâve eaten pine needles or not
I mean Iâm pretty sure you have but I donât want to assume
Of course Iâve eaten pine needles. Various kinds. Singleleaf pinyon is weirdly the best
Are theyâŠ
spicy?
You know, Iâd love to tell you but Iâm pretty unclear about what marks the difference between âspiceâ and âstrong-tasting plant that isnât considered a spiceâ
Iâll have to eat some pine needles myself then to find out
Ok but it only counts if theyâre PINE needles and not just any old needle-like leaf off a tree
Iâm going to eat every needle-like leaf I see
Please Donât Do That
Needle-Like Leaf Roulette
âŠIâll accept this plan as long as you promise not to eat any yew leaves.
I can try very hard not to
Pine needles are distinguished by the presence of a sheath-like structure at the base of the leaf, almost always holding bundles of two or more leaves. Yews donât have the sheath thing
Itâs time for me to go out into the woods and stare at needle leaves
Finally you can gain real insight into my average daily life
this conversation reads like two shakespeare characters who come out in the middle of the play to talk about something completely unrelated for comic relief and then are never heard from again
god fucking dammit gimme a minute
Enter AERUH and MALUS SYL-VESTRIS, a pair of JESTERS.
AERUH I tell thee, rosemary is like a pine but with a spicy taste.
MALUS Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Art thou to claim that needles base of pine have not a spice?
AERUH A needle base of pine is merely base.
MALUS âTis not when held, comparing, to anthos.
AERUH My dearest Malus, needles thou'st eaten?
MALUS How many moons have we as friends seen rise? How many suns have we as friends seen set? Thou sixteen seasons in my heart Iâve held, and hope that I in thine hast been the same. With brotherhood as rich and old as this, thou needst not ask me such frivolities.
AERUH I know thou likely has, to tell the truth, but I would not assume.
MALUS Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Well, yes, I have. A multitude of types Iâve eaten too. Iâll tell thee now: the best (though it is strange) is single-leaf pinyon.
AERUH Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â And it has spice?
MALUS I truly wish that I could tell thee this, but now, i'faith, I cannot fully tell, the difference in classifying thus: to say âhas spiceâ or merely âherbal strengthâ.
AERUH To tell this tale most clearly it would seem that eating needles from a pineâs required.
MALUS Aye, it would seem that thatâs the task at hand, but caution tells that this is whatâs to do: eat only needles of the honest pine, and none of lying leaf with pinelike shape.
AERUH Iâll eat them all.
MALUS Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â I prithee, stay thyself.
AERUH Roulette with leaves.
MALUS Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â At least restrain from yew.
AERUH Iâll do my best.
MALUS Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â That is all can we do. The scholars tell that needles true of pine can be distinguished from the lying yew by sheathlike clothing all along the base; the yew has no such guard.
AERUH Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â With this new truth I now will venture out into the wood and seek the pines and pinelike fakes alike to stare them down and learn their secret truths.
MALUS With this thou canst at long and weary last Discover for thyself my lifeâs own path.
Exeunt.
Enter MACDUFF.
MACDUFF. Yo dudes that king thereâs dead. Like dead as FUCK.
not submission. I really hate the "My OC, my rules" thing. Cause like, no? Just because they are your oc doesn't mean you can do whatever you want with them. If you want to make your oc suffer and not like them get help, you deserve to lose rights over them. Especially if you only do that stuff to purposely trigger people. Once you do that, your oc no longer belongs to you. they belong to the public who will take better care of them instead
Making a comment to get this to post.
You do not get to take someone elseâs OCs for yourself just because you donât like how their creator is treating them.
Iâm absolutely adding this to my Online Entitlement collection. Raymondâs already on there.

Can we please acknowledge that Obi-wan hiding on PadmĂ©âs ship to get to Anakin was wrong?
I donât know if Iâd necessarily say âwrongâ since Anakin absolutely needed to be stopped, but he certainly picked some shitty timing for his reveal.
Obi-wan went to PadmĂ©âs home and asked her to help him kill Anakin. She said NO. Everything he did after that was without her knowledge, permission or consent.
He hide inside the ship. The ship of a pregnant woman, who was alone, unprotected and maybe unarmed. A woman he knew was about to face a Sith Lord who just had slaughtered the Jedi Order.
He didnât try to stop her. He let her get to Anakin and only then, at the worst possible moment, revealed himself to a clearly paranoid man. Iâm no expert but jumping out of a hidden compartment in front of unstable and paranoid man and taking an aggressive stance is never the smart move. Specially, if the man is dangerous and in company of a civilian.
Anakin only became violent after Obi-wan appeared. We donât know how he would have behaved otherwise. But even if things had worked out fine, Obi-wan would still be wrong in using PadmĂ©. It doesnât matter if he was trying to do âgoodâ, he still used her and completely disregarded the wellbeing of a mother and her children. He showed no care for her wellbeing until it was too late.
Obi-wan could have knocked her unconscious (by Force or something) as soon as they arrived. He couldâve revealed himself once he figured out where she was going (one look at the nav computer and he would have Anakinâs location). He couldâve talked to her, told her not to face Anakin until after her baby was born and buy himself some time to kill Anakin without PadmĂ©âs involvement. But he didnât, because he was more concerned about the big picture (killing Anakin) than by the casual victims the plan might leave behind. And thatâs the same kind of thinking that got the Order in trouble.
Only their plan matter. Only his orders. Only following the Masters. (hell yeah, im bringing Yoda into this). Because, as hard as I am on Obi-wan here, I understand why he did as he did (not that understanding makes it right). Obi-wan didnât want to kill Anakin either until Yoda told him (wrongly) Anakin was gone and ordered Obi-wan to go kill Vader. And like the good jedi he was, Obi-wan was focused only on following the orders of his wise, infallible, powerful Master Yoda. Any loss was an acceptable loss because their way was the right way.
Iâm not saying that finding Anakin was wrong. How Obi-wan tried to find Anakin was wrong. Â Â
Obi-Wanâs use of PadmĂ© in order to kill Anakin pretty much typified everything that was wrong with the Jedi modes operandi. They disregard the lives of individuals in favor of what they see as the greater good. Everyone is either a tool, a target or an obstacle and is treated accordingly.
And it takes a couple days or so to get to Mustafar anyway. What? Obi-Wan couldnât have revealed himself to Padme and they work on a more sensible planâŠ? Seriously?
It was stupid, wrong, arrogant, and exhibiting extraordinary levels of self-entitlement that Obi-Wan did what he did.
He just stowed away on a ship for a few days, and let an emotional, very pregnant, and deeply distressed woman go visit her deeply unstable husband, and just. did. nothing.
She may as well have been bait.
Or the line to reel him inâŠ.
In fact she was.
The PREGNANT woman. !!!!! đĄ I ask youâŠ
Itâs just unacceptable.
Her life and the lives of her children didnât HAVE to be placed below the Greater Good. They didnât have to be disregarded and treated like nothing. It was unnecessary. It was above and beyond the call of duty. If anything, it was a dereliction of duty, and itâs ridiculous. He could easily, easily, have done better by Padme (who again, folks, is pregnant!) and still gotten his man. Probably with better results tooâŠ. It comes down to his own individual arrogance.
(Note, also, that it is Obi-Wan who draws his sabre first not Anakin/Vader. He initiates that confrontation and it started when he just swaggers off that ship Padme should have known he was on.)
And definitely agree that it is indicative of the flaws of the Old Order. This is why they fell both literally and metaphorically.
Yoda told him to search his feelings (the feelings they spend all their time telling people not to have) to figure out how to find Anakin. So Obi-Wan deliberately uses a pregnant woman whom he knows and acknowledges (âIâm so sorryâ) is already in a terrible situation to hunt down and destroy the person he knows they both love after they have both said they canât do it.Â
Itâs wrong AND itâs a poorly conceived plan. PadmĂ© has experience with both strategy and dealing with Anakinâs overwhelming and dark feelings (the ones he hides from Obi-Wan but reveals to her) and it is absolutely correct that if Obi-Wan had taken the time to broach the subject again on the ship they could have come up with a better one.Â
And yes, Yodaâs plan is terrible to begin with â letâs prove the Jedi are not treasonous by assassinating the Emperor and his most decorated war hero in secret. As stated above itâs not that these things donât need to be done, itâs that they go about them in the wrong way â and they FAIL!! â because of Jedi arrogance.Â
