Seek and you shall find! I found a whole section at Chemist Warehouse dedicated to Sukin! Slowly but surely working towards more organic products! All of this cost just under $30, fairy sure it's close to my normal shopping trip! Keen to see what results bring!
Small changes, big results! The scales over the last 9 days show evidence of weight loss. I haven't changed what I'm eating I've only switched to organic alternatives and removed processed meat from my diet. I've kept my gym routine the same and added yoga once a week. Not only this but I'm also experiencing an improvement in mood and less anxiety, whether this is related or merely a wave the coming weeks will tell.
Organic Progress
It's been a few days since my last post. I'm slowly incorporating more organic items into my life. I started with weetbix, then soap and today rice cakes and muesli. Why am I doing this so gradually? I've been on the bad side of a life change before and flipping a diet and excise routine on it's back set me back months in recovery. Yes I'm trying to reduce the amount of toxins in my body however I need to remember these toxins have been in my body for a very long time. What have I noticed so far? - Food tastes very similar if not better - Using paraben free soap has hydrated my skin reduceing the need to moisturize daily - Slight weight reduction and lower body fat - Higher awareness of what I put into my body
Organic shopping!
Organic Shopping
After previous searches I was under the impression it would be hard to find organic goods until I reached the organic section at Coles! From organic weetbix to organic rice cakes all reasonably if not the same price as non organic goods. My first step was going to start on products in my bathroom however this posed to be a bigger challenge than expected, even though I found herbal soap and herbal toothpaste neither are full organic. So I've decided by making changes to my diet. After previous experience with diet changes I'm a firm believer that no diet should be completely flip on it's back, it's important to start slow. Rice cakes and weetbix are a great start. The search continues for organic toiletries!
Organic and Vegan
Today was an interesting day. Opening my mind to a new concept and asking lots of questions and completing some investigation I came across the word Vegan on a product. Which then sparked my curiosity what is the difference between Organic and Vegan? After a bit of digging and asking a trusty well versed friend it's quite simple. Vegan implies there is no animals used or involved in the making or testing of the product. Organic means there are none or very little toxins used in the product. Every day I learn something new. Another thing I noticed is the amount of times the word 'Organic' is used on items when in fact they are pact with potentially harmful toxins, it only takes a keen eye to check the back to see. I've also realized it can be hard to find Australian Certified Organic items but it won't stop me from trying! If knowledge is indeed power then I believe today was a successful day!
An Organic Start
Recently I watched a program which touched on the amount of toxins around us, that we ingest, apply to our skin, and we absorb from our surroundings. I completed a few quick searches on some of the chemicals used in the products I use regularly, shocked is an understatement.
As an personal experiment Iāve decided to aim for more organic products and less processed goods. Iām going to try to stay away from chemicals and increase natural elements.
The first step to this process will be to clean out my bathroom and keep my eye out for the Australian Certified Organic logo!
