Pirates of the Caribbean- Jonsa Au
Jon stood in the crisp, clean foyer feeling ever mite of soot and dust that must still be on his person despite his hard scrubbing this morning. He rubbed the heel of his boot on the back of his calf and looked down at it. It hadn’t helped.
“Mr Snow!” Jon turned and saw Governor Stark walking toward him, smiling. “It’s good to see you.” Commodore Stark offered him a smile.
“Good day, sir! I have your order.” Jon held out the case for the older man, flipping the lid open. Governor Stark moved and picked up the sword encased in its scabbard. It was a beautiful piece, some of Jon’s finest work.
“The blade is folded steel. That’s gold filigree laid into the handle. If I may-” Jon reached for the sword, releasing it from the scabbard and balancing the weapon on his finger where the blade and the guard meet. “Perfectly balanced.” There’s pride in his voice, he knows, but he has reason to be proud. This is a fine weapon, both in beauty and in purpose. This blade was not just decoration.
“Impressive, very impressive.” Governor Stark took the sword back and examined the goldwork around the guard. “You’re work?” He asked with a small smile on his face.
“Aye.” Jon felt his pride bloom in his chest again.
“You have my compliments.” Governor Stark said with a nod.
“Thank you, sir. A craftsman always appreciates-” Jon trailed off as Miss Stark made her way down the stairs. He saw Governor Stark turn toward his daughter.
“Sansa! You look lovely.” Miss Stark reached the bottom of the stairs and smiled at her father, but her gaze flickered to Jon. Words seemed to fail him so he nodded in agreement and tried to smile.
“Jon!” She cried and moved toward him. “It’s so good to see you.” She moved toward him, her hand going to a golden chain around her throat, the bauble at the end tucked into the bodice of her dress. “I dreamed about you last night.”
Jon blinked in surprise and opened his mouth to say something, but Governor Stark spoke first.
“Sansa, that is hardly appropriate conversation.” Governor Stark said, his words scolding but his tone holding no reproach.
“It was about the day we met. Do you remember?” She moved closer still and smiled at him. He’d loved that smile since he was 10 years old and coughing up sea water.
“I could never forget it, Miss Stark.” He knew his was staring at her, knew he should look away, bow his head, do something, but her eyes were enchanting him.
“Jon, how many times must I ask you to call me ‘Sansa’?” She smiled at him. Jon smiled back, but saw Governor Stark shift on his feet behind Miss Stark’s shoulder.
“At least once more, Miss Stark. As always.” He bowed his head now but managed to catch the flicker of disappointment that crossed her face.
“Good man.” Governor Stark said moving toward them. He reached out and took the sword and its case from Jon’s arms. “You understand propriety. Come along, Sansa.” Governor Stark nodded at Jon with a smile before moving to the large front door. It was opened by a footman that seemed to appear from thin air.
Miss Stark met his eyes and he saw some emotion there, something like frustration or annoyance. She straightened her spine and gathered her skirts in her hands.
“Good day, Mr Snow.” She walked passed him and Jon followed a few steps behind her.
“Good day.” He said, watching as she was escorted into a carriage by another footman. The carriage soon pulled away and Jon’s eyes followed Miss Stark.
