Hi, it's me again. While reflecting on my favorite releases from this past year, I have also taken time to reflect on my favorite albums to be released from this entire soon to be past decade. This album is at the top of that list, making it my favorite album of the past ten years. Yikes. Stop here if you don't care about me sharing too much nonsense personal information. • For years leading up to this release in 2012 I thought I was too cool for pop music, save the icons. This album came out of nowhere for me. I literally had never listened to @teganandsara before this album. I only knew of them and a couple of their singles vaguely. Heartthrob genuinely showed me how cool, honest, raw, and real pop music could be. Besides the pop element, the lyrical content of this album drew me in. It completely engulfs the beginning, middle, and end of a relationship. There is a song/are songs for every part of one. If memory serves me right, one of the sisters was in a really great place in a relationship, and the other not so much. The songs reflect that. Happy and not so much. This was one of the first experiences in my adult life where I discovered sad songs disguised in a happy upbeat way. I was obsessed. From the get go my favorite was Drove Me Wild, for no reason other than the song sounds so fun. To this day, while it still does sound fun, it is still a favorite for the content of. A slow burn track for me was Now I'm All Messed Up. Not until a couple years ago did I truly come to appreciate this one. Along with Drove Me Wild, Now I'm All Messed Up is my other favorite. Those two tracks are it. Both still relevant to this day, honestly. My favorite part of Now I'm All Messed Up is in the bridge, where they go, "Go." and then in the background is, "Please stay." I will forever adore that part, and have shed tears while hearing it too. It's relatable. Truly. Knowing it is best to end something, but wishing for it to not. "Hi, how are ya?" Greg Kurstin helped with the production aspect of Heartthrob, and this album would not be what it is without him. He has worked with all your favs, and working with him was pretty out of left field for the Quins even after Sainthood. https://www.instagram.com/p/B51KYumJHs7/?igshid=wtlbh0zzhcb7
