A QUICK PHOTOGRAPHY RANT ABOUT AI

Recently, I had the pleasure of doing a photoshoot with a friend. She wanted to go for a more Renaissance look for the shoot, so after editing, I ended up with a series of images that she loved, but I'll show you one in particular.

This one was my absolute favorite out of the entire set. It just looks very painting-esque and I just killed it with this one.

Cut to the next day, and she tells me that her mom wants to take one of the pictures from the set and frame it and hang it up, which, sidenote, AHHHH no one has ever actually done that before, so go me on achieving that. But then I get an idea. Even though I'm not sure if it would be this one that is being framed, it's my favorite, and so I thought to myself

"What if I made this one into a painting?"

And so after a few texture downloads and one YouTube tutorial video later, I got this.

First time every trying something like this in Photoshop, but personally I love it, I think it looks awesome with all of the canvas textures and stuff on it and yeah, it just looks cool.

So I posted this on my IG Story, and because we're in the day and age that we're in, I made it be very much known that there was no AI used in this image at all.

now most people we're like "wow this is cool!" but there was one in particular that caught my attention.

Now, first off, I have no big quarrels with AI. There is a case in point where I do see a usefulness for Artificial Intelligence, but not when it comes to art.

But a thought ran through my brain.

"I just spent 20 minutes out of my day learning a new skillset inside of Photoshop to make the image look like it was painted. Could AI have done it faster and given me the same result?"

So, against my better judgment, I went into ChatGPT, threw the image in, and said, "Make this look like a painting."

And I gotta be honest with you...

AM I GLAD THAT I DIDN'T DO THAT

BECAUSE LOOK AT THIS

I will give credit where credit is due. Dress, hair color, and the thing in her hair? it got that.

But the face

THE FACE

That is a random person, not the person I took a photo of.

So TL;DR, I won, AI Lost, and AI can kick rocks.
