My thoughts when reading this:
First section - makes sense
Second section - Photoshop CS 6 has almost as many lines as Windows NT! What is all of the HD-DVD code actually doing? Is most of it copyright protection-related?
Third section - Yeah, I heard the 500k number thrown around a lot with Healthcare.gov.
Fourth section: Iām a little surprised that the F-35 has so much more code than the space shuttle. Maybe this is because itās newer? How is it that the Mozilla Core (which is āat the heart of all Mozilla softwareā) has more lines of code than Firefox? Is this ācoreā really a āstarting pointā that is then whittled down?
Fifth section: Wow, Windows XP and Windows 7 have almost the same number of lines of code.
Sixth section: Man, MS cut a lot of code after Vista! Holy cow Facebook has a lot of lines of code! Wait, it includes back end code, so I guess this includes all of the code they wrote for projects like OpenCompute. That makes sense.
Seventh section: Cars have a lot more code than I thought. Wait, didnāt they have Healthcare.gov way up at the top? OK, that was just fixing it. Well, I guess this makes sense, since they are connecting with hundreds (I imagine, between government entities and insurance companies in all 50 states) of data sources, and you have to write code to both input and output data. I get they also modularized a lot of the site, which adds code, but also makes it easier to move bits around if requirements changed. OK, I just made up a lot of excuses, because GOOD GOD THATāS A LOT OF CODE!
