Hi. I want to say this as respectfully as possible. As of May 6, 2025, I will no longer be responding to asks related to Palestine.

This doesn’t come from a place of apathy—I do care. But I’ve come to realize my limits. I don’t have money to donate, and my blog isn’t big enough for reblogs to gain meaningful traction. I also struggle deeply with the images of injuries and hospital scenes.

Yes, I write horror, but that's fiction. Real-life suffering is different—it affects me in ways I can’t just compartmentalize. Sometimes the asks I get are worded in ways that make me feel like I’m being blamed or held personally responsible, and that guilt is overwhelming.

The most I can manage right now is to continue with my daily click support. I wish I could do more, and I hope those who can will—but I need to protect my mental health too.

Look, yes, Dandy's World is dealing with problems, and it's okay not to support Qwel at this time. I don't anymore, but you might as well just play the game. Why? Roblox Plus is one way creators can get money from the game. Do your research instead of relying on Google's AI Overview. So yes, you can play without directly supporting them, but just don't buy game passes, Ichor, or anything else.

I must remind you that Roblox has been dealing with problems as a whole recently. However, that doesn't mean the issues surrounding Dandy's World or Qwel should just be ignored. Both things can be true at the same time. You can criticize Qwel, choose not to support the game, and still acknowledge that Roblox itself has had its own controversies.

With that being said, I do think it's ridiculous to act like playing a problematic game automatically makes someone a bad person when you are using a platform that has also faced serious criticism. So just choose what you want to do: keep playing or go touch grass. At the end of the day, your decision is yours, not someone else's.

Additionally, when you buy stuff, some of your money goes to Roblox themselves because they operate the platform, so you are still supporting a company that has been involved in controversies regardless.

If people are over there calling you evil for playing DW, let them. Or at least explain to them what Roblox did without being filtered. Nobody, including me, should control what you do. So please use the internet before saying anything if you don't know what you're talking about.

Let's be civil here. Don't threaten anyone who plays DW, and understand that it's okay to disagree with one another. That is why I even suggested doing research throughout this post.

I am going to just be straight here - this response is ASS. It doesn’t address the allegations and it was just made after Joji got a cease and desist.

There was absolutely zero heart put into this. Not only did it take a month but she literally just said that she wasn’t going to respond if anything came out. She just responded out of backlash.

Yeah, absolutely not Qwel, I appreciate a response at least but I hate the motivation behind it. It’s too late for an apology, give up the ownership please.

To put it bluntly: I think people should stop playing the game for now.

Based on the public statements and documentation released by former members of the team, I don't believe it's appropriate to continue financially supporting the project while these issues remain unresolved. In my opinion, "separating the art from the artist" doesn't really apply here because playing the game directly benefits its current ownership.

If you still enjoy the characters or the community, that's completely different. Keep making fan art, writing stories, creating animations, or playing community-made alternatives such as Animal Hospital or modded versions of the game that don't support the official release.

I know this isn't an easy decision, especially if you've already spent money on the game. But I think it's worth asking yourself what's more important: getting your money's worth, or standing in solidarity with the people who say they were harmed.

There’s a more ethical choice.

A significant drop in player support sends a much stronger message than simply expressing disappointment online. If meaningful accountability or changes—such as new ownership or other reforms—are ever going to happen, community pressure is one of the few ways players can make their voices heard.

It's also worth remembering that many younger players may not know about the situation at all. If you meet someone who genuinely isn't aware and you have the opportunity to explain what's happened, do so respectfully. Give them the information and let them make an informed decision for themselves. Harassing or attacking people isn't productive, but informing them is.

For anyone who wants to read the documentation and decide for themselves, I'll attach the subreddit megathread and the publicly available statements below.

To people who can’t bring themselves to stop plying the game like myself: there are modded versions available on Roblox that are not owned by Qwel.

That way you can play the game without feeling guilty since it gives no actual benefit to Qwel herself.
