Five Reasons Morgantown, KY Should Go Wet
I must preface this by saying that I’m no longer a resident of Butler County, but I lived there for 28 years, and my family still lives there. So, while I may no longer live in BC, I care deeply about its future. So, here are my top five reasons why I think it would be a good idea for Butler County to allow alcohol sales.
5. It’s 2016, and it’s time to level the playing field with surrounding counties. Allow me to use a sports analogy: Keeping Butler County dry is like the ‘97 Bulls trying to win a basketball game while keeping Scottie Pippen on the bench. It’s possible, but it’s far more likely with Pippen on the court. Right now, one of BC’s best players (alcohol sales) is on the bench.
4. My goal of one day opening a pizza and wings spot on Main Street would move one step closer. I envision revamping Cousin Don’s into a restaurant filled with big screens and NY style slices for proper sports viewing.
3. Does anyone have any better ideas to help the community? The group who went through the arduous task of pushing this movement forward did it with the best intentions of helping the community. When I hear negative feedback about alcohol sales, it’s never followed with a new or better idea. Whether the vote is Yes or No on the 26th, the passion that both sides of the vote have should not subside. Keep the dialogue about moving the county forward open and harmonious.
2. Personal freedom. The citizens of Butler County should be able to enjoy the same freedoms that 96% of the United States enjoy. (Fewer than 200 counties in the U.S. are still dry.)
1. Friday afternoon margaritas at Mi Garcias sounds pretty great, right?
