Couldn’t let Gnomevember go by with out at least one illustration. I’ve been doing a lot of portrait style illustrations lately. It felt good to do a full scene like this. I channeled a rainy Adirondack afternoon for this mushroom harvester.

Experiments in gouache. Pomegranate in a bowl, no drawing just straight to paint which is very new for me.

This started as a sketch of some mushrooms we were growing in our kitchen and then evolved into this. I started it ages ago and finally just got around to put the finishing touches on it. I think tweaks are still needed but it's mostly there.

Digital colors are done! I'm digging this one, I like how the half tone worked. I want to do some more experiments soon.

I'm always amazed how time at the drawing table helps me relax and things have been pretty stressful lately. I was able to sneak in a couple hours today and finish the watercolors on this one. Got a chance to start the water works on this. I chose a pen that was not water proof so the ink would act as the first later of pigment.
