the fact that it's the mccoys who take haymitch in after ma and sid die. he was unconcious and they volunteered to take him, they knew him since he was a boy afterall. a family without a child taking in a child without a family :(

it's the way that in haymitch's interview before the games he says that he's embodying the role of a rascal,and that's not really him,and when katniss and peeta are watching the tape of his games,katniss says "he didn't have to reach far for that,did he?".

like over the years,he became so used to playing the role of the rascal that he became it.

which makes "you'll never get off this train" hit so much harder. because he never did.
