Western lesbian representation is so bad. Itβs either the series gets cancelled, a character dies, they donβt get screentime, or the storyline only focuses on the homophobia they face.
Meanwhile in Thai GL, there have been over 30 series announced for 2025 alone. And let me tell you, thereβs something for everybody. Space lesbians, childhood best friends to lovers, period drama lesbians, boss x employee trope, multiple couples and love triangles, mafia action lesbians, idol x bodyguard trope, lesbian with powers to control time, prisoner lesbians, black cat x golden retriever trope, crime-solving lesbians, messy sapphic friend groups who are all in love with each other, high-school sweetheart fluff, weddings, happy endings and so much more. And this is just the beginning. There will be many more great series to come in the future.
The only thing thatβs stopping more western people from watching is because of subtitles. Which is such a pity because these people say βthereβs no good lesbian representationβ, but there is. You just have to be better at looking for it. Donβt set yourself up for disappointment anymore, donβt watch something for the bare minimum representation.
As Bong Joon Ho once said:

IdolFactory announced their adaptation of 4 Elements which was teased as βbringing together the top GL actresses of the countryβ. No actresses/pairings have been named but there will be a press conference about it soon.
The series will consist of four interconnected stories, each representing one of the elements: Earth ΰΈΰΈ΄ΰΈ, Water ΰΈΰΉΰΈ³, Wind ΰΈ₯ΰΈ‘, and Fire ΰΉΰΈ.
May, youβre my princess, my novel, my everything. I love youβ¦ so much, as much as a human heart can love a person.
Pluto and Charon
βKiss and Captureβ: The Icy Collision That Bound Pluto and Charon Forever (via. SciTechDaily)
The themes of space are heavily used throughout the series, hence the name Pluto.
EP.12 is titled Youβre My Charon. The name of the book Ai-Oon wrote about their love story which she dedicated to May.
Ai-Oon tells May about the relationship between Pluto and Charon, and compares it to their own relationship.
Charon is the largest of Pluto's five moons. The same surfaces of Charon and Pluto always face each other, a phenomenon called mutual tidal locking. Charon orbits Pluto every 6.4 Earth days. Charon neither rises nor sets, but hovers over the same spot on Pluto's surface, and the same side of Charon always faces Pluto. (via. NASA)
A new theory suggests that, billions of years ago, Pluto and Charon collided in the far reaches of the outer solar system. Rather than obliterating each other, the two bodies joined together in a spinning snowman shape (the kiss) for 10 to 15 hours before separatingβbut ultimately, they remained trapped in each otherβs orbits (the capture). (via. Margherita Bassi)
Ai-Oon and May are Pluto and Charon. Destined to be in each otherβs orbit forever.
An interesting detail:
This photo of Pluto and Charon was taken on July 8th, 2015. Ai-Oon was born on July 8th, 1998. This day is also the mid point between Namtan (01/07/1996) and Filmβs (14/07/2000) birthdays.
I think I'm not thinking of you as just a colleague. I like you.
