As part of the celebrations surrounding the Cultural Olympiad; the Light Night and Night Run events came together as one big event in Northampton. The young journalists worked closely with a film maker to create this film, interviewing participants, artists and runners, capturing the atmosphere and excitement of the event and the anticipation of upcoming London 2012 events.

The Lincolnshire Young Journalists Academy went along to the Olympic Torch event at Bracebridge Heath. Not only was there excitement surrounding the arrival of the torch but also extra activities and events. Here a collective of artists have inhabited part of a park to create installations of music, art and spoken word.

As part of her Inspired Journal, Millie, a member of the Young Journalist Academy, decided to learn and practice taking clear, beautiful photographs, increasing her photography skills.

Her main subject matter was outdoor scenes through autumn and winter. Her techniques improved as she learnt new skills such as using macro settings and changing the images using computer software.

I found the Olympics so inspiring; the Olympians and Paralympians reaching their dreams, due to determination and pure hard work. Although my project is not sport based, the Olympics is so inspiring. It's a pure message to work for your dreams.

During half term, the newly-formed team of Young Journalists at Priory Witham Academy spent two days at RAF College Cranwell on a team-building programme. This included an 'escape and evasion' exercise and, on day 2, interviewing RAF personnel, including Air Commodore David J Stubbs OBE ADC FRAeS RAF.

Journals worked with a number of schools in Northampton for the Shine project in 2011. The project celebrates the history of 5 grade one listed churches across the county with volunteer training and workshop programmes to lead up to 5 large illumination events within the churches themselves.
