Palmse Manor is one of the grandest baroque mansions in Estonia. The mansion and open-air museum were the first fully restored manor complex in the country. 

Palmse estate belonged to the convent of St. Michael in Tallinn in the Middle Ages and is referred to as a manorial estate in 1510. From 1676 until the Estonian declaration of independence in 1919 it belonged to the Baltic German von der Pahlen family.

A rainy day in Tallinn

Kőröshegy Viaduct -  The Kőröshegy Viaduct on highway M7 is the longets bridge of Hungary. It is 1872-metre-long, its highest point above ground level is at 88 metres, and it is over 23 metres wide. Its highest pillar out of the 16 is 79.70 metres high,the shortest measures 17.70 metres, and the greatest distance between two pillars is 120 metres.

Waze or Navigon?

Actually I have both. And I drove last month more than 4800km in 7 different countries and I had an opportunity to try both.

Navigon

Mostly I used Navigon. Simply because its based on satellite navigation, you don’t need continuous internet connection to use it. Navigon served me well but it has some “annoying habits”.

When you need it the most, in big cities, in the jungle of streets and lanes Navigon is late. And not only late of a few seconds (which is a lot when you are driving) but at times it gets frozen. In the most important moment. During my trip minimum three times it played with me this game and it was not a nice experience.   

Also I recognized that Navigon shows different routes than Google Maps. Usually longer ones. I tried to change the settings, allowing toll, and shifting between fast or short solutions but still it gave me different routes. At times the application is not accurate, can’t handle the new changes spite of the fact that I downloaded the latest versions.

And I paid $100 for it.

WAZE

Totally free, but internet connection is needed which can be expensive if you drive abroad. I like the very strong community-based approach of this application. Fellow drivers are continuously reporting about traffic jams, obstacles, police and any other updates on the road. Such way your GPS is not a centrally updated gadget but a dynamic tool which is shaped by its users. 

I like more the design of WAZE, it’s more fun, somehow funny and gamification always help to make you come back for more badges.:)

But I can’t use WAZE everywhere. We need to wait while internet will be like radio. Flowing in the air for free. Of course you can use it in an offline mode, but in that case the community part is missing, you just see the routes.

Maybe hard to believe but this photo was taken around 11:00pm in Tallinn, Estonia. In Summer during the the so called white nights the sunset is very late and even at midnight we still experience some daylight while at 2:00am its almost totally bright again. Amazing period of the year. At 10:00pm you feel like its 2:00pm.
