Hey tumblr! It has been a very long time since my last accutane update, but that doesn't mean I haven't been constantly staring at my skin or desiring to work faster. Now i'm towards the end of month three and lots of things have changed.
- back acne and chest acne only for a couple weeks and then completely gone
- rash on my right hand that has been here forever
- not so dry skin anymore, still moisturize though
- when picking, the red marks last a while (do not pick unless you are not going to be seen in a while)
- popped pimples bleed a lot more
- popped pimples create a crust, and if you pull it off, no mark is left
- almost clear face when you look straight at me, but acne on my sides still
- scarring on my face, neck and back
- not so dry because I am constantly taking care of them
- I carry two lip balms in my coat, two in my school bag, one in the car, and a couple more at home just so i never run out of it
-whenever i pull off dead lip skin, it hurts and it bleeds and it hurts to smile
- no oily hair whatsoever
- no washing my hair everyday and not feeling gross (I personally love this side effect)
- super tangled hair and more split ends than usual
- nosebleeds ( way better now with a new nose moisturizing cream)
- sun sensible skin (got a sunburn skiing, even though i put tones of sunscreen on)
So this is pretty much what I have been feeling lately. I went to the gynecologist a couple weeks ago and she told me I had polycystic ovaries, which is not a good thing at all. I went to the dermatologist last week and she told me that having that, my hormonal acne could come back even after accutane. The cysts are small though, so she told me to take birth control and see if that helped.
I was just so happy from all the progress that i've made with accutane that telling me that really brought me down. At least all the acne that is not hormonal and the scarring will be gone, but i already had imagined a life of complete freedom from acne of all kinds.
