Just in the middle of my season of pre-birthday existential thinking, this quote got plopped on me and it says so much about how I’ve been feeling lately. There’s been some frustration where people want you to be “X first,” or “y first,” or even a “x who happens to be y,” and I don’t see why all of these pieces cannot exist and be part of a wonderful story. We weren’t created in and of a monolith, and all of these pieces of us help shape our lens of how we see and navigate the world. How could that ever work with just one frame in mind?
