Hi! :) I think this is pretty much my first post on here, srry if it's awkward. I was looking for some writing tips on depicting drug/magic-induced hallucinations??? In short, my whumpee oc will be under the effects of the magical pollen of a plant called Dreamweaver. However, his companion, caretaker™, isn't affected in the same way since he isn't magical, unlike whumpee. So, I find myself having to write a whole sequence where Whumpee hallucinates about his past, and some repressed memories make an appearence in unexpected ways. He runs away, fleeing from something that isn't there, getting lost and forcing Caretaker to search for him. When he finally finds him, he manages to calm him down, and the hallucinations become less aggressive or frightening, turning more neutral or even pleasant, as Caretaker takes him back home and eventually pulls some kind of antidote out of his ass or somethin. From here on out, it would mostly be shameless teeth-rotting fluff, because I can, and because I think a somewhat disoriented and relaxed whumpee (AKA filterless blorbo) is quite endearing.
I'm having trouble writing the hallucinations, though. His trauma is related to a fire that took his mother and several other people, so I imagined he could see fire and smell the smoke, even feel himself burning alive, while hearing the heartbreaking screams of his loved ones and running through the woods following their voices, thinking that this time he could save them. This is pretty solid, but I wanted it to be a bit more chaotic and surreal, and include more sensations beyond the usual five senses—you know, a fucking mess. Similarly, I'm struggling to imagine what the calmer, more pleasant hallucinations afterward might be like. I'm having trouble thinking of such an experience being enjoyable. I'd be glad to hear y'all's suggestions! Ty! <3 =)))
