âI feel like Iâm getting a little round. Maybe thereâs a sports team I can join so I can lose this freshmen fifteen... I wonder if they have a dance team.â

Adam was almost shocked to hear the girl was willing to actually get a coat. He wasnât going to waste the opportunity when it was there, knowing heâd only want it later. âIn the hall. There is a place for jackets.â He said very discreetly and without much help. Adam had a problem of not letting his filter do itâs work before he spoke and before long he just let out his first opinion. âIt looks like someone ate a bunch of cotton candy then threw it up on your head.âÂ
Joy opened her mouth to ask the man where exactly the âplaceâ for the jackets was; and then he said her hair looked like vomited cotton candy. âOh... OK,â Joy managed to say. Perhaps the man was in a bad mood, or too sleepy to realize heâd said something hurtful. âIâll just go get that jacket then... In the hall, you said? Like a closet or something, right?â Joy didnât want to ask too many questions, worried that the man might snap if he was in a bad mood or something. At this point, she just wanted to give the man his jacket and go to her dorm.Â
magickalmarkl:
The word evil made Marklâs blood boil. Who was she to say such things about him? Though his heart ached knowing Bo referred to him as that, but he was more angry than saddened. Then the girl had the nerve to say that she was Boâs little princess, and by that point Markl stopped listening to the garbage that was spewing out of her mouth. Markl didnât want to deal with this. He already had to deal with what was happening with Bo, and this wasnât doing him any good emotionally. Without saying another word, the boy pushed past her, wanting to forget about her and everything as soon as possible.
When Markl pushed past Joy, something in her brain told her to just leave it alone. But her gut said she needed to follow him. Obviously Markl didnât like her for some reason, before she even mentioned Bo calling him the evil wizard. It was obvious when he told her to go ruin someone elseâs life. âWhat did I do to you, huh?â Joy called out as she hurried after him. âWhatâs your problem? Is this the way you treated Bo? Because if so, I can definitely see why he refers to you as the evil wizard. Youâre obviously pissed about something. So why donât you man up and say it instead of running away like a coward?â Joy never acted like this, minus when she blew up on Tony. But something about the way Markl was acting made her blood boil.
hermes-kharmophron:
âPeacocking is being noticed, babe. Nothing wrong with that.â
âWell then I guess Iâm on the right track!â Joy said. âBut all in all, you think it looks good?â
dbing:
âNo I have! Justâ not a best friend forever.â He corrected, kicking a foot against the ground modestly as he thought over her comments. Bo wondered if her excuse could be applied to why people always seemed to leave him on his own. âYeah, I think that was the point.â He nodded, picking up a candy cane as Joy examined the rest of her gifts. âYou got the Eiffel Tower?! Oh man, all I got was a wall and a clock tower.â He pouted, referencing the snow globes that contained a tiny replica of the Great Wall of China, and the Big Ben (that were even labeled as such) that sat on a shelf on the other side of the room. âYou donât need to thank me! Itâs what friends are for. Iâm just happy to see you smile.â
âWhatâs the point of a best friend if itâs not forever?â Joy asked with a small laugh. Although it seemed like Bo was keeping something to himself. Joy didnât want to pry, though. âA wall and a clock? Whatâre those supposed to be?â Joy asked as she neatly put each item back into the goodie bag. âOf course I have to thank you, silly! Even if thatâs what friends do, you should always thank you friends. That way they feel valued and appreciated.â
dbing:
âI suppose not. I like to try too.â He nodded, able to relate to that determination even though he was very good at abandoning his attempts most days. âGood! Best friends forever and ever. Iâve never had one of those before.â Bo was glad sheâd agreed. He felt like I finally had a friend all to himself again. âWhatâs the fun in me telling you? Check it out! Hereââ Pulling her over to his bed, Bo waved his hand over it and grinned. âYou can tip it all out if you want! That way you can see it all at once instead of one at a time.â
âYouâve never had a best friend!?â Joy gasped, âOh em gee, I canât imagine why. Youâre a wonderful person to be around! Maybe people think youâre too awesome, and theyâre intimidated by how awesome you are.â As Joy sat on the bed, she couldnât contain her excitement anymore. She dumped the contents of the goodie bag on the bed gently and began to examine them. âOooh, it looks so festive so far,â Joy said giving the contents a quick glance. âCandy canes, christmasy mug, candles-- Oh! Is that a hit chocolate packet? And a scarf?â Joy picked up the scarf and wrapped it around her neck gently. âAnd a snow globe. That looks kind of like the effel tower to me on the inside...â Joy shook the globe, letting the snow fall around the inside. âI love this. Thank you for sharing one of your bags with me, Bo.â
hotheaded-adam:
âWell are you going to bring me a jacket to put on?â Adam said crossing off a report he figured didnât need his attention at all. Mostly because he didnât want to look it over. Giving her hair a quick glance he shook hs head. âItâs blue.â
âWell... Sure, if you have one with you thatâs near by. Like in a coat closet or locker or something,â Joy said. She saw nothing wrong with helping a member of the staff. Especially since the man seemed so busy. âY-yes, I know what... I-I was wanting more of a detailed opinion. Like or dislike? Stuff like that...â
magickalmarkl:
Markl looked down at the girl with a confused glare. What was she talking about? He had never heard of these character names before, and the frustration that had been built up before was becoming too much to hold in. âShut up.â he snapped, Markl wasnât in any mood to play games, especially when it came to the person who tore between his relationship with Bo. âPlay pretend all you want with Bo, Red- I donât care, but you wonât with me.â He was angry, angry at the stranger in front of him, and angry at Bo for naming him such a horrible thing. âGo fuck someone else over. I donât want to see your face- ever.â
âShut up is a mean thing to say. Iâd expect nothing less from an evil wizard.â Joy wasnât phased by Marklâs anger. She really didnât expect anything else from someone whoâd hurt her precious knight. âItâs not pretend, itâs a game Sir Bo came up with,â she said matter-of-factly. âRed is the Queen, Bo is the knight, Iâm Boâs little princess, and youâre the evil wizard. The only one whoâs doing anything wrong to someoneâs life is you. All of that negative energy probably gave you bad karma. I canât see someone as sweet as Sir Bo being friends with such a mean wizard.â
hermes-kharmophron:
âYou can probably still work with the blue while youâve got it, make it rad.â
âTony says blue hair is totally peacocking. But I just wanna be noticed, you know?â
hotheaded-adam:
âI donât know where they keep the thermostat for this stupid office.â Adam grumbled. Heâd still never taken a second of his own time to even look at the girl as he was too busy writing down old reports he was late on. âDid you need something, what are you even doing here?â
âWell then maybe put on a jacket?â Joy suggested. She was about to slip out the door, but then the man asked her what she was doing there. âOh, I uh... I was just getting some unbiased opinions about my new hair color.â
hermes-kharmophron:
âI dunno. It should be the go to.â
âI totally agree... Man, Iâm gonna have to wait for, like, ever until I can bleach and dye my hair again.â
dbing:
Bo blinked a couple of dozen times. He couldnât imagine that the girl he stared at had once been bullied, nor could he believe sheâd tried to make them happyâ but he knew she was telling the truth, especially when she mentioned it not working. âYeah, well, making everyone happy all at once is impossible. Iâm okay with being unhappy if it means others will be happy.â Carefully shaking the girls hand heâd refused to let go of, Bo softened a smile. âThen from this day on, youâre my best friend, alright? And Iâm yours.â
Joy shrugged. âDoesnât mean I canât try to make everyone happy,â Joy said. Joy had been told many times in her life that she couldn't make everyone happy. That it was impossible. But that would never stop Joy from trying. Especially when people like Bo needed her. âYouâve got yourself a deal, Sir Bo,â Joy said happily. âJoy and Bo, Best Friends Forever!â After shaking Boâs hand, Joy looked down at the goodie bag. âShould I just look in or should I have you tell me whatâs in it first?â
hairlikestarlightx:
Sophie shakes her head. âNope. Seriously, looks amâamazing!â
âThank you! ...How come youâre stuttering?â
magickalmarkl:
âI guess you could say thatâŚâ We were until you came along, was what Markl wanted to yell at the girl, throw profanities and cause a scene, but he refrained himself from doing any of that. âQueen Red? You met Red too?â It felt so wrong, so wrong. Not only did Joy have Bo wrapped around her finger, but he was sure the Red was as well. âI know sheâs nice. Red is my best friend.â his voice came out harsher than intended, but Markl didnât care.Â
Joy opened her mouth to start talking about the amazing Queen Red when the boy snapped. Joy was very confused. Why was he practically yelling at her? But then the boy said he was Redâs best friend, and Joyâs eyes went wide. âYOUâRE THE EVIL WIZARD!â Joy gasped loudly. âSir Bo told me about you! Youâre the evil and mean wizard who betrayed him and hurt him. Sir Bo said Queen Red is too nice to see how evil you are, but I know you canât be trusted. You wonât fool me, Wizard Markl...â
dbing:
âHave you ever tried to make everyone happy before, Joy?â He asked, genuinely looking for an answer to come for the little princess, that would explain why he thought Red shouldnât bother worrying about his happiness. âYeah? Are you sure youâd wanna be my best friend? Itâs probably not easy.âÂ
âI have.â Joy said plainly, âEven people who were mean to me. I knew that they were only mean because something in their lives was making them unhappy, and bullying me was their only outlet for their unhappy feelings... Even if it didnât work, I still tried.â Joy looked Bo in the eye, so he could tell she was serious. âIâm always up for a challenge. And if you need a best friend to look out for you, to make you happy; well Iâm definitely sure I can do that.â
dbing:
âMaybe, but I doubt sheâd believe me. Sheâs known him a lot longer than sheâs known me. Theyâre best friends and sometimes, best friends just canât see the bad in each other.â Bo shrugged, trying to make the conversation less serious. âIt doesnât matter anyway. I donât think he wants to take over her kingdom or anything, so she doesnât need to worry about him.â
âBut if youâre her knight... she should want to make sure youâre happy too.â Joy didnât understand why Queen Red would favor one of her friends over the other. Even if sheâd known the mean wizard longer. âWell... you still have me! We can be best friends without the mean wizard and Queen Red.â
dbing:
âOf course! How else am I supposed to protect her day and night, if I donât live with her?â Holding the goodie bag out for the girl, Bo shook his head and sighed; thinking he shouldnât have made mention of his third roommate at all. âI donât think she knows heâs a mean wizard, no. Queen Red probably thinks she has two good knights still.â
âOh... Right!â Joy said as she took the goodie bag. âThat makes sense. Youâre such a good knight, Sir Bo!â Joy got ready to open up the bag, but she paused for a moment. âMaybe... maybe you should tell Queen Red about the wizard. She seems like such a good queen. Maybe she could turn the wizard good.â
