he agreed with her. cassie beamed and nodded along to his suggestions. she loved hanging out with someone who understood. her eyes widened as he went on. “woahhh, a castle. that would be cool.” she’d never considered castles before! she rocked back and forth slightly where she sat cross-legged on the floor. “sneaking into pictures would be great, yeah. you could also, like, sneak into a suit of armor and make it move around. or find an old mirror and show up behind people when they look into it. maybe it would turn into one of those ‘stay overnight in this haunted castle room’ things where people try to sleep there and you try to scare them into leaving.”

"i think castles just sort of automatically give off that vibe." it doesn't matter if anyone's ever died in it, though most castles have had deaths within the cold stone walls. castles, especially in a convenient downpour with lightning and thunder roaring above, can be scary on looks alone. "move around curtains that haven't moved in decades, stomp around on the stairs that echo like crazy. oh! try to use the swords on the wall they use for decoration!"

“okay, so like—” she’d put so much thought into this. “abandoned only if people still go there on dares a lot, ‘cause otherwise there’d be nobody to scare and it’d get boring. archenemy’s house would be cool for a while, maybe, but then less cool when they get too scared and move out.” cassie took a breath, rested her hands on her knees, and leaned forward with a dramatic pause, as though about to share some huge ghost secret. “gas station convenience store out someplace only lost people and locals go. you get to knock things off shelves, flicker lights, scare away rude customers. maybe kids will try doing demonic rituals or whatever late at night in the parking lot as well, and then you can scare them too. i could go on, but like— it sounds totally awesome, right?”

levi's also given it some thought, but only in very specific scenarios for very specific reasons. unsurprisingly, his ideas aren't exactly for scary reasons. but cassie's absolutely right — isolated gas station actually does sound like it could be a lot of fun. that could be a book, or a television show. probably should be, at this point. "totally awesome," he agrees with a bit of a toothy grin. "one of the main workers is exasperated and annoyed all the time and the other one thinks it's fun and eggs you on. i think a castle that people still live in, or used as an event location could be fun. sneaking yourself into people's pictures."

fiona, not so subtly, turns her head to look at the terrifyingly pretty woman ankha is referring to. "huh." she sure is pretty, and fiona is fairly certain that she could take down an entire country if she wanted to. fiona would let her, she thinks.

but while she can appreciate it, she turns back to ankha with a bit of a shrug. "not my type." which isn't untrue — fiona doesn't really have a type but sometimes the vibe just doesn't hit.

okay after thinking about it i think part of the reason i had felt overwhelmed was because a lot of my threads were a bit... emotional? or a bit angsty or heavy? i'm not sure how to describe it properly. i feel like my life and my own mind tend to be heavy and dreary so i guess also having that here was a bit too much for me.

so with that in mind, i think i'm going to focus on writing things that are lighter and fun and bright and generally slice of lifey. absolutely not to say i won't be doing heavier threads, i just need the lighter and softer threads to outweigh the other. i'm excited to be able to explore the lighter side of things.

obviously if those sorts of threads aren't your preference, i totally get it. curate your space and all that!

now eithne doesn't mind bugs — most of them, anyway. as long as they leave her alone, she leaves them alone. mostly. spiders are common enough that she hardly notices them anymore. but the monstrosity that's currently hanging from inside of her bath faucet is not small and absolutely never climbed up the spout.

she points to it as if that will further prove her point. "it's bloody huge!" the size of her eye, she thinks. she won't get close enough to double check and is pointedly not looking at it. "please get rid of it." a brief pause before, "but don't kill it!" if she wanted it dead, she would have just turned on the faucet.
