Grandma is gifted fudge. Grandma eats the fudge. Grandma seems surprised I take a photo of her at her holiday party.
After this photo I asked Grandma Joyce if she was on Santa's nice or naughty list. She answers the naughty list. Oh my!
I then asked Grandma Joyce if she was going to get her photo taken with Santa. Her response was to laugh at me. Geeze.
Like an Arrow Through My Heart
Grandma Joyce sits down for a dinner out on the town. She then decides to hang her cane off of some decor that is mounted on the wall - that decor happens to be an antique crossbow.
Rum and Cokes by Christmas
My mom has now started offering to buy Grandma Joyce drinks when we go out for dinner. This time grandma waves off the offer and I point her way and chime in, "We're sharing rum and cokes before Christmas." What do I get from Grandma Joyce? An epic eye roll. Was it because she doesn't want to partake in the cocktail of her youth, or was it the mention of "sharing"?
Ignored by family.
As I was speeding down the highway today I saw Auntie Linda and Grandma Joyce driving next to me. I waved, I shouted, I even honked! Nothing. Both those ladies flew by without seeing me. I feel dissed.

I shout in the lobby so every single resident will hear how awesome and generous my grandma is. Grandma looked embarrassed.
While Grandma Joyce has been terrible at checking her email and Facebook, I've been making use of her ipad by drawing portraits of her. I think she finds this annoying.
Retired midwife Grandma Joyce shows me the ropes on how to handle babies. She can strike a glamorous pose and support a babies head with a pillow all at the same time. Kinda a show off.

Grandma Joyce having fun with the ipad and my new haircut.
I introduced Grandma Joyce to Youtube today. First we looked at videos of Victoria Falls, where Grandma Joyce once had a date interrupted by gorillas! Grandma enjoyed the reminiscing, and I thought it was a good place to start. For kicks, I typed in "old folks home" and we watched a video of a talent show at a seniors center. Three seniors did a Michael Jackson routine, which Grandma Joyce said was "rude". To pick things up I defaulted to the always popular kitties. Maru was a big hit. Grandma was amused when I told her of the global concern about Maru after the March 2011 Japanese earthquake. I then asked her if she would like to make a Youtube video about the kooky seniors she lives with. She said no.
Grandma and I got comfy, stuffed out faces with cheddar popcorn, and watched youtube.
PR? Pure rubbish.

Grandma Joyce reacts to my buzzed hair
I have buzzed my hair, and I am looking a lot like Sigourney Weaver in Alien (YEEAAHH!!). Relatives concerned for Joyces' weak heart gave her the heads up I was rocking a new do. In the breakfast hall I let Grandma take a peek under my toque. Just as I was about to take the toque off Grandma Joyce literally pulls the wool over my eyes and tells me to keep your hat on. I guess Grandma Joyce was concerned my hair would give others in the breakfast hall heart spasms. Bossy pants!
Grandma Joyce enters the computer age. I predict a duckface within the week.

Christmas party! Despite saying she was full, Grandma Joyce downed ten chicken wings.
Do you know what a Snuggie is?
Grandma Joyce asked me if I knew what a Snuggie was. When she asked this I could tell she knew and was going to inform me if I didn't know. I was thinking that I totally knew what a Snuggie was, a blanket with sleeves. Wrong! Grandma Joyce tells me a Snuggie is an outer layer of underwear that extends down to the knees. You wear these knee length undies over your knickers when it is cold outside but you still feel like wearing a dress. This was all the rage in 1950s Edmonton. They trick was once you got to your destination, like a Christmas party, you then had to take your Snuggie off so you didn't overheat. Grandma Joyce said all the ladies put their Snuggie into their jacket pocket - discreetly.
