he mirrors her grin, staring at her with continued awe and nearly childish glee, eyes wide and jaw virtually dropping.

Memories flooded back in, despite it being just the mere mention of it. The pain he felt, the panic that hit him because his vision had been correct when he’d hoped it had just been a nightmare. The sitarist turns away and reaches up to rub at his arm, clamping his eyes shut.

“Y-yeah, it’s okay… do-don’t worry…” He could feel his chest tightening and his heartbeat getting faster if that was even possible. The sound of his frantic heartbeats echo in his head now – along with his own scream of agony while he… faded away to nothing.

Tears sting his eyes and he tries to hide the sob that comes, but it doesn’t do any good. He slowly moves his other arm up to where he’s hugging himself and trembling softly.

Don’t do this, he tells himself while biting down on his lower lip. Don’t you dare fall apart. You are not weak, you’re not broken; stop it…!

Yet the pain becomes too much for him to handle and he sobs again, shaking his head repeatedly. “I-I’m sorry –”

“ ah --- ah, n-no, don’t get upset ---- !! ”

eyes widen and Sora is stuck between moving away to give Emyd space, and moving closer to comfort him somehow ----- but how the heck could he do that? he’s the reason the blonde is upset -- he’s the reason Demyx d i e d. Sora is the last person that should be here helping.

tears threaten the corners of his eyes as well and he feebly reaches out a hand, shaking his head in his non-verbal state of shock, fear, and even regret. he hates that part ---- he shouldn’t regret anything, he was only. . defending himself.

but what if he could have shown mercy?

“ hey, it’s okay! it’s not. . . your fault!!! it’s okay, j-just stop! i’ll leave, it’s okay!! ”

Had he said something wrong? The sitarist blinks a few times in confusion before stepping forward and lifting a hand with all intentions to lay a hand on his shoulder. But he stops when he sees Sora look away…

Emyd’s heart sinks and he takes quite a few steps back. Greenish-blue eyes trail to the ground and he folds his hands, anxiously rubbing them together a few times.

“Hey, man… don’t worry about it… I’m sorry too – I didn’t mean to bother you or something.”

the brunette hears Emyd slip further away, and only feels worse. his frown deepening, Sora shakes his head and absently reaches up to scratch the back of his head.

“ you aren’t. bothering me, that is. i just ----- i wa-wanted to, uhm. . . i wanted to m-make this --- no, i want to fix what. . . ”

he stops a second time and just shakes his head, moving his hand to the front of his face ot wipe at his eyes quickly. “ i wanted to say i did what i had to an-and i’m really sorry because of what ‘had to’ entailed on your part and i didn’t ----- want to do that. ”
