how to protect the computer not only form things coming form the outside but things going outside of it.

Why was this information so useful to you?

Those where some of the few things that I truly didn’t know how to use and I am actually going to be practicing it in this computer and any future more that I might use. In order of keeping my computer, identity and information safe.

How have you incorporated this information into your life?

By actively having a firewall, an updated antivirus and being careful what information I share, why, with whom and through what medium.

Will you continue to use this information after this semester?

This specific one yes. The one that I had previous knowledge of, ofcourse. But the rest of the new one, not really.

Assignment #12

the cross compatibility issues we encountered with Spreadsheets and Presentations this semester.

What were common errors? Some programs were easier to use than others. usually openoffice was easy to open in any other program but it was the hardest to let other formats be used in their program. The best templates usually were microsoft and the ugliest ones from openoffice. The most difficult thing to use and open in different programs where the multimedia ones.

How were they resolved? By using the correct program in the correct format, using PDF or not using templates or things that might make the compatibility harder.

Was there any consistency in the errors and solutions? Yes, basically the solutions that I just proposed apply to all problems.

Cite specific examples:

Presentations: If you are going to share a presentation and want it to be exactly the same, use the same program it was made of.

Spreadsheets: Want your numbers and formulas to be accurate, don’t use any templates.

Word processing: Want it to look exactly the same when printing or for shearing. Save it as a PDF.

Was it what you expected? I was not expecting much of it. Nothing at all.

Did you find it “easy” or “difficult”? I found it average, it depends how much you actually put into it. If you want to actually be good at it, is no rocket science. If you don’t really care you might struggle a little.

Do you understand why it is so popular or are you unsure why? I don’t understand why, I think there are more interesting programs like Civilisation among others. It seems like a cool program for middleschoolers or geeks. But not for much more.

PDF is a great tool for sharing important documents that the author doesn’t want them to be modified. Also for presentations that might suffer from a modification in the format or positioning of pictures among others

Templates in accton

There are plenty of different softwares for the specific needs and likes of every person. Is nice to have such a broad variety on them that excel in different things, modifying themselves to different characteristics.

I would definitely use Prezi, all day every day. You can make immediate changes from one computer that will be transmitted to any other one in seconds. It has a lot of features that help people maintain connected to what they are doing and no one has to worry about formatting because it doesn't change from one computer to the next. A prezi presentation could be seen online or could be downloaded to any computer and the format would not be altered.

It doesn't matter the occasion or the way the presentation is going to be given. Prezi would always be my go to program.

Thoughts on Templates

The using of templates has the capability of making your life simpler. When making an important presentations i is easier to express what the goal is. The only problem with templates is that they might have a limit to the things that you want to show, express and demonstrate. Write blog post with your thoughts on using templates. I really enjoy the graphic difference that the templates makes to accommodate to different needs.
