A/N: Hey guys! I know it’s been a while, but this summer has been SO busy! I’m less busy now so I will try to update every other day or so! Thank you for your patience and I hope you enjoy!
Being a detective is not easy work.
Yes it's your dream job, but some days it can get really frustrating and emotional and just plain difficult, which is why the annual detectives-only getaway at Charles' ex-wife's beach house is one of your favorite weekends of the year.
You were currently heading there now and you couldn't wait for the weekend to officially begin. Hitchcock, Scully, Amy, and Terry were in Amy's car, while you were riding with Gina, Boyle, Rosa, and Jake.
Though they decided to take your sedan, you let Jake drive because you had pulled several all-nighters in the past week in order to solve a string of rather confusing B&E's.
Unbeknowst to anyone, except for Boyle who somehow figured it out, you had a huge crush on Jake. Over the past year and a half, this crush had given you a lot of problems and you were near your breaking point.
It had been a rough week at work with the difficult case and your feelings for Jake growing more and more everyday, so this getaway couldn't have come at a better time.
Tonight, you were getting drunk.
You had never been drunk in front of any of the other detectives before because you considered yourself a very professional person, but the stress of the past week was enough to push you over the edge.
The trip to the beach house felt rather short and before you knew it the weekend was in full swing.
Boyle grilled burgers and you guys had some wine, but as the night grew later so did the party.
Two shots of whiskey in, you began to feel the buzz but it wasn't enough. So then you had the not so great idea to do three more shots.
Now, it was one-thirty A.M. and you couldn't walk or think straight, but you felt good. Really good.
5-Drink Y/N was very confident.
You were at the kitchen counter about to pour another shot, when Jake pulled the bottle out of your hand.
"Hey, okay, that's enough." Jake set the bottle down on the counter and grabbed your shoulders, steering you away from the alcohol.
"Nooooo." You slurred in protest. "I'm fine, I need more."
"You've had plenty." He said.
"Excuse you, I am perfectly sober." You argued.
"Oh really?" He chuckled.
"Yeah." You grinned with confidence. "Watch this."
You walked forward in what you thought was an exact straight line, but Jake had to stop you from almost running into a table and a wall.
"Okay, I believe you." He lied. "But you know what sounds fun?"
"What?" You leaned in close to his face.
"Going to bed with a glass of water." He smiled.
"Boo!" You shouted. "No fun."
"Well that's too bad." Jake picked you up. "Off to bed."
He carried you into your room and set you down on the bed.
When you felt the softness of your bed, you felt extremely sleepy.
"Stay right there, I'm going to get you some water and some Tylenol for in the morning." Jake ordered.
"Okay." You slurred happily, too drunk to really care about anything.
He came back, setting the glass and bottle on the table next to you. Then, he removed your shoes and put a blanket over you in case you got cold.
"Okay, you should be all set." He said, turning to leave.
"Hey Jake, you wanna know a secret?" You said, stopping him as he walked out.
"Sure." He laughed, walking back to your bedside.
"I love you." You spoke with ease. "Like I'm in love with you. And I'm always really scared to tell you because you make me nervous. But right now I'm not nervous at all."
Jake was stunned.
"But you probably don't love me back, and that's okay." You rambled on. "I just wanted to tell you so I can stop being so afraid all the time."
Jake was silent for a minute, staring at the wall as he tried to think of what to say. When he finally came up with a response, however, you were fast asleep, so Jake just turned your lamp on and left.
You awoke the next morning to the worst headache you had ever felt. You groaned as the sun shone through your window.
You noticed the medicine on the table and took one, thankful for whoever had put it there. You had no memory of last night, but you knew someone was kind enough to take care of you.
You changed out of the previous day's clothes and brushed your teeth before heading downstairs to the smell of breakfast.
"Morning sunshine." Jake, who was alone in the kitchen making eggs, teased you. "How ya feeling?"
"Like shit." You grumbled. "Where's everyone else?"
"Well, it's two in the afternoon so they decided to head out to the beach for the day." He informed you.
"Oh." Was all you said. "You didn't want to go?"
"No, I wanted to be here when you woke up." Jake said. "I kinda had something I wanted to talk to you about."
"Alright." You nodded, taking a piece of bacon from the counter top.
"So do you remember anything about last night?" He asked, and you shook your head in response.
"I figured." He nodded, turning off the stove. "So you don't remember what you said?"
"No." You answered. "How bad was it?'
"Well, to refresh your memory, I took you to bed and got you some water and stuff and as I was leaving you told me a secret of yours."
"Oh, no." You grumbled. "Did I tell you about my secret coin collection?"
"No, but that is adorable and I want to see it as soon as we get back." Jake grinned, making you blush. "Actually, you told me you loved me."
Your heart dropped.
"Y/N, I want you to answer me honestly, please." Jake begged. "Did you say that because you were drunk or is it true?"
"It's true." You said quietly, your eyes drilling holes into the floor, your heart pounding.
"Oh, thank God." Jake said, and you instantly lifted your head up. "I love you, too, you know. I have since you walked into the precinct two years ago."
"Seriously?" You asked, shocked beyond belief.
He just nodded.
"So what does this mean?" You asked.
"For right now, it means you love me and I love you." Jake walked towards you. "So would you do me the honor of going on a date with me?"
"I would love nothing more." You smiled, and all felt right with the world.

A/N: Alright, so, once again this is rly short and I am sorry. I still think it’s pretty good, but I’m still working on writing Jake’s character and improving my writing style in general. I hope you like it! Also if you are a 5sos fan pls hit me up bc Youngblood is TO DIE FOR!
Tonight should have been a great night, but it wasn't.
It was New Year's Eve, and here you were moping on Boyle's couch, watching Jake and some skinny blonde sway on the mini dance floor Charles had fashioned in his living room.
Normally, you would drink your problems away and kiss some stranger at midnight, but tonight you just felt sick to your stomach.
You could still feel the way your heart dropped when you saw them walk in the door together, hand in hand. You recalled the disgust that inevitably showed on your face when she asked him the dumbest question you could ever ask Jake Peralta.
"Do you really need all that candy?"
Of course he does, he loves candy. Anyone who really knew him would never ask such an idiotic question.
The slow song went off, temporarily ending your pain.
You closed your eyes as the next song began, hoping to just drown out the music and focus on not crying.
"Hey there, Y/N." You heard Jake's voice next to you, and you felt your heart drop again in an instant.
"Hey Jake." You said quietly, opening your eyes.
"Woah, what's up?" His smile quickly faded into a worried expression.
"Nothing, I'm good, I just haven't had a lot of sleep lately." You lied. "Just not feeling the party scene tonight."
"You sure you're okay?" He asked again.
"I'm perfect." You forced a smile.
"I don't buy it." He shook his head.
"Fine." You caved. You knew you could never get away with lying to him, but you still tried to come up with any explanation other than the truth. "The truth is I'm just feeling a little lonely. I don't have anyone to kiss at midnight and I haven't been on a date in like two months, so I'm just not in the mood for 'New Beginnings' and all that New Years Eve shit."
"Oh." Jake said simply. "Do you want me to find you someone to kiss at midnight?"
"No!" You said, probably too quickly. "I mean, like I said, I'm...just not feeling up for it tonight."
He just nodded his head as his date appeared next to him with drinks in hand.
Jake did a little wave goodbye to you as the blonde skank who was probably really nice but you're a jealous bitch pulled him back out on the floor.
"I'm too sober for this." You gave a deep sigh, heaving yourself up off the sofa and heading to the kitchen.
You poured yourself the strongest vodka you could find and knocked back a quick shot. Then, you poured a small glass of champagne and sipped on that for awhile, avoiding as many people as possible.
You glanced at the clock after what felt like hours.
11:58.
You looked at Jake and the blonde, still deep in conversation out on the floor.
You knew your heart couldn't handle seeing them kiss at midnight, so you climbed on the fire escape, hoping to stay there until after the new year arrived.
As the frigid New York winter air hit your face, cold tears began to slip out of your eyes. You didn't know if it was the alcohol or the raw heartbreak you were feeling, but your efforts to refrain from crying were no longer working.
"What are you doing out here?" You heard Jake join you. "It's a minute and a half til twelve."
"Yeah, I know." You sniffled. "I just wanted to be alone. Go back inside, your date is probably waiting on you."
"Actually, she left." He informed you.
"What?" You looked at him, teardrops still staining your face.
"Because I told her I wanted to kiss someone else at midnight." He smiled at you.
You were speechless.
"It's you." Jake clarified. "I want to kiss you at midnight."
"Thank God." You breathed out in relief, making both of you laugh.
"It's always been you." Jake stated boldly, looking at you in a way that made you melt. "I brought her here tonight trying to get over you, but when I saw you in that dress I knew I'd never forgive myself if I didn't at least try."
"30, 29, 28.." You heard the party crowd chant.
"I lied earlier, by the way." You told him. "I wasn't just feeling lonely, I was crushed and super jealous and sad because of your stupid date."
"Yeah, I kinda figured." Jake smiled, once again making your heart melt.
"10, 9, 8, 7.."
Jake licked his lips and looked down at you.
"5, 4, 3, 2.."
You leaned in.
"Happy New Year!" Everyone chanted.
Your lips met with Jakes, and fireworks began all over the city, matching what you felt in that moment.
"Happy New Year, Y/N."
"Happy New Year, Jake." You whispered back, leaning in for another kiss.
I hope you enjoyed, and requests are always open!! xx

A/N: Hey guys, sorry for the delay in posts and stuff. It’s been a busy start to summer but things are slowing down now so hopefully I will get caught up ASAP! To the anon who requested this, I hope this is somewhat what you wanted! I’m sorry it’s so short, but I really gave it my best effort! Enjoy!!
"Good morning, detectives." Holt marched into the briefing room with you trailing behind him. "This is Detective Y/N Y/L/N. She is new to the NYPD and has been assigned as the newest detective to the Nine-Nine. Is there anyone who will volunteer to show her around the precinct?"
No hands were raised, and you began to feel a little hurt by the fact no one wanted to to talk to you.
"Well then, let me rephrase." Holt spoke sternly. "Someone show Detective Y/L/N around or I'm removing overtime for the month."
Every hand in the room shot up, which made you feel even worse.
"Peralta, can I trust that you will not be a complete buffoon and can manage to treat our new detective with respect?" Holt asked.
"Of course, sir." The man you assumed was Peralta nodded. "You can count on me."
"I doubt it." Captain Holt said seriously, making you stifle a laugh. "Dismissed."
The other detectives filed out of the room as Jake approached you.
"Okay, so I know Holt probably just wants me to give you a basic 'Here's the Evidence Room, the Bathroom' tour, but that is totally lame and I'm going to give you a real tour." He smiled. “Follow me."
Before you had a chance to say anything, Jake grabbed your hand and pulled you out of the room.
"This is the break room." He stopped at your first location. "That vending machine is the best restaurant in Brooklyn, and you can always eat Boyle's food if you don't have any, but he has a unique taste so I highly doubt that you would want to.”
You smiled as he walked you to the next room.
"This is the evidence room." He entered the code and you walked in to the room, noting the mountains of boxes. "It has great cell reception and is a perfect hideout if you're just not feeling it."
He showed you a few more rooms, which all had quirky stories about the rest of the detectives that went with it.
You had to admit, at first you felt that you wouldn't fit in here. You figured you would end up hating it and you would strongly regret ever leaving your old job to chase your dream. The more stories Jake told you, however, you began to feel as if you would fit right in.
For your last stop, Jake took you to a pizza place down the street.
"What does this have to do with giving me a tour?" You laughed.
"Well, I figured since you’re new, you should have a friend to eat with on your first lunch break." He grinned. "Plus I wanted to get to know you a little bit better, since we might be working together on cases and stuff."
"Fair enough." You smiled. "What do you want to know?"
"So from looking at you, I would assume we are about the same age," Jake observed. "But you're just now joining the NYPD, why is that?"
"Well, I was a waitress at 5-star restaurant in Manhattan for eight years, and then one day there was a robbery there while I was working." You said. "The detectives in my precinct were terrible at their jobs, so I snuck into the office, stole the case files, and solved it myself."
"Wow." Jake smiled, looking genuinely impressed.
"When I was a kid I read every Nancy Drew novel there ever was. Four times." You laughed at yourself. "Solving crimes was always a dream of mine, so after that happened I figured it was time to stop running and take a chance. So, I enrolled in the academy, graduated top of my class despite everything they did to try and prevent that from happening, and here we are."
"What do you mean, they tried to prevent you from graduating?" Jake asked.
"My class at the academy was mostly men, and despite the fact that I already solved a major case on my own before enrolling, they always belittled me because I was a women and a waitress." You explained. "I cannot tell you how many times these men told me to make a sandwich for them or tried to make it so terrible that I would drop out."
"That's awful." Jake just shook his head.
"I know, right." You tried to smile. "I was really nervous about telling you or anyone that story, because I didn't want to be seen as just a waitress. But, you've been so nice to me, and from what you've told me, everyone here is like a big family."
"Well, I think...." Jake trailed off. "Everyone deserves a chance to prove themselves. It doesn't matter where you come from or what you've done, if you're good at your job that's all that matters."
"Thank you, Jake."
"Can I be honest with you?" Jake swallowed a bite of pizza.
"I hope so." You joked.
"I took you to lunch to get to know you, but not just as a work friend." Jake admitted. "I thought you were incredibly beautiful from the second you walked in this morning and I just wanted an excuse to spend time with you."
"Well, I'm flattered." You blushed.
"Would you want to have dinner with me?" He asked. "Date stylez?"
"Absolutely." You grinned, taking his hand from across the table.
Hi guys!! I’m very thankful for the requests you’ve sent me! Unfortunately I am so busy right now that it is causing me to fall behind on my writing. I’m sorry that i’m taking so long, but i promise when they are finally posted they will be my best work! Thanks! :)
A/N: Hiiiii!! This is my first imagine on this account, so I hope you enjoy it! And to the anon that requested this, I’m sorry it took me a bit I just wanted to make sure it was as good as it could be! I hope it is what you wanted!
You couldn't take it anymore.
No matter how much you wanted to or how hard you tried, you couldn't tear your eyes away from your co-worker, Jake Peralta.
The crush that you had developed on Jake came as a complete surprise. One day he's just Jake, your partner who made funny jokes at the worst times and occasionally drives you to insanity, but then the next day he's Jake, the guy who gives you butterflies in your stomach.
It all started about two weeks ago.
It was a rainy Tuesday morning; one of those mornings where everything was just going wrong.
Even though you woke up 37 minutes after your alarm was supposed to go off, you managed to make it to work only 15 minutes late. This may be a victory, but it is overshadowed by the fact that your car wouldn't start, you spilt coffee on your skirt, and then walked in the pouring rain to Brooklyn's 99th Precinct.
So when you stumbled into the morning briefing, raindrops in your hair and clothes covered in brown stains, no one said a word.
The remainder of the meeting went smoothly, and after the dismissal you were anxious to head to your locker and grab the extra pair of clothes you kept in there.
Before you could get out the door, however, you were stopped by Jake's voice.
"Y/N!" He called.
"What, Peralta?" You snapped your head around in annoyance.
"Can I borrow you for a sec?" He asked with a small trace of a smile. "I have some files from last week's drug bust I wanted you to look at in the evidence room."
You took a deep breath and nodded, feeling a little guilty for taking the frustrations of your crappy morning out on Jake.
When the door to the evidence room shut, Jake turned around to look at you.
"So what did you want to show me?" You asked.
"Nothing, actually, I just wanted to ask if you needed anything." He explained. "You look like you had a bad morning."
You smiled, grateful for his compassion. "Honestly, I could use a new coffee, and a stromboli sandwich from the bakery down the street sounds really nice, but I won't trouble you with that because I know you're really busy with that bank robbery case-"
"Ah-ah, nope, I'll take care of it," He cut you off. "Caffè Mocha with extra whip and double chocolate syrup right?"
"How did you know that?" You laughed.
"Well today is Tuesday, and you usually get an Iced Coffee on Tuesday, but today it's cold and you walked here in the rain, which means you'll want something warm which explains the Caffè Mocha. Also you're in a bad mood so, double chocolate syrup." He explained, showing off the quick thinking skills that made him such an amazing detective. "Now go change, I'll get your coffee."
"Are you sure?" You were a bit taken back by his unexpected kindness.
"I'm in a good mood today." Jake grinned. "I'm 100% sure, Y/N."
As he left the evidence room, his hand brushed against yours, and that is the moment it hit you. The skin he had grazed felt like it was on fire and your heart was pounding like a bass drum at a rock concert.
At first you thought it might just be a side effect of your bad mood, but as time went on, you still had this nervousness around him.
Like at the bar the other night, you were incredibly drunk, (aka you took 5 shots of fireball in hopes that you would never feel anything ever again) and you attempted to play pool.
You were barely stable enough to even hold the pool stick upright but you had a high wager with an also hammered Gina that you would win so Jake, being the kind guy he is, helped you play.
The only problem is, to shoot he had to wrap his arms around you, which literally made your body shiver in excitement.
Several instances just like this had happened throughout the past week, therefore you couldn't call it a coincidence anymore.
You most definitely had feelings for Jake Peralta.
"You're staring at him again." Rosa's cold voice made you jump, snapping you out of your thoughts.
"I am not." You scrambled to pick up your pen and make it look like you were working.
"You are." Rosa argued. "I've watched you do it all week. What's going on?"
"It's nothing." I brushed it off.
"You like him and you don't know what to do about it, am I right?"
You let your head fall on your desk and nodded.
"Alright, come here." Rosa grabbed your arm, pulling you up from your chair.
"Wait a minute, where are we going?" You cried in protest, but within a few moments you were standing in front of Jake's desk.
"Diaz, Y/L/N, do what do I owe the pleasure?" He jokingly grinned and stretched his arms back behind his head, making your heart melt.
"Y/N do you wanna tell him what we were just talking about, or should I?" Rosa looked at you, threateningly raising her eyebrows.
"No!" You shouted. "I mean, uh, Jake, can I see you for a second in the break room?"
He obliged, following you into the empty room. It was silent for a moment, and you were freaking out on the inside just being alone with him.
You noticed Rosa watching through the window, and you knew that if you didn't tell Jake how you felt, she would.
"So here's the thing." You took a deep breath. "I like you, Jake."
"I like you too." He laughed.
"No, Jake, I like you like you." You shook your head. "I don't know why and I don't know how but one day, I just looked at you, and it was like someone had flipped the switch and ever since then I think about you all the time. I think about what we would name our dog and couples costumes we could wear on Halloween and matching Christmas sweaters that we would cuddle in while watching Die Hard-"
Your rambling was cut off by Jake's lips meeting yours, and all of your anxiety faded instantly.
You looped your arms around him, kissing back with pure joy.
Jake pulled away, but kept his face close to yours.
