This is my final magazine, I am super happy with the way this turned out I feel as though it embodies everything I was hoping for and that I’ve done a good job at displaying all my work and the garments I created. I thought it was a really fun process and I am satisfied with my results.

Design boards

Here are my final design boards displaying my belt designs and the chosen colour palettes.

I really like how these came out, I think they’re fun and the black and white colour palette really contrasts yet enhances the vibrancy of the belts.

Draft magazine

This was my initial print of my magazine. Upon reading it I realised the mistakes that had been left unnoticed such as spelling errors, cut offs on the pages and also a page number tbat I had forgotten to remove.

I am glad I made this initial copy as I wouldn’t really have known about my mistakes. But I have gone through and re-edited it, fixing my mistakes.

First magazine print out

Here is my first print out of my magazine so I am able to see the layout and how it needs to be sent to print in order to have all my pages in the right place.

Postcards

Here are the 6 postcards I made to display the garment descriptions, I think they look really effective and I will be using them to promote my magazine. I went for 3 collage pieces and 3 of my favourite photos from the photo shoots I had.

Step-by-step

This is my take on a Japanese step by step tutorial that would usually be found in a magazine. I think I’ve effectively captured the essence of the layout and I’m really happy with how it turned out.

Cover ideas

This is the cover photo I have finally decided on, it took me a really long time to choose a final photo as I have a lot of photos to pick from.

Below show some of the other photos I was considering:

These would’ve all probably been fine photos to use but they didn’t quite fit into the frame well and the writing would’ve covered up most of the image itself. Plus I feel as though the composition of these photos are a little off and I think I like the final photo I went for as the height of us is different and adds a little more depth.

Second studio photoshoot

This was my final studio photoshoot for this project. I had to do this one by myself as it was just to display my final garments in their completed form. I like the way some of these photos came out, and I will be using them as cutouts and putting them together in pages. I would like to do another photoshoot in public but i’m unsure how much more time I have before my magazine must get printed.

Second at home photoshoot

Today I dressed my sister up and had a photoshoot with her. I felt as though these photos came out super good and they are what I was hoping for, I think I will have a lot of imagery that I can now use for building a good foundation for my magazine.

Design boards (for magazine)

Here are my final 3 designs for my belts and kimonos. I wanted to go for a fun chibi esque look with large heads and small bodies for my final models. I will be using these in my magazine.

First at home photoshoot

This is my first attempt of an at home photoshoot in my own bedroom. I really wanted to go for a casual and girlie atmosphere, like a sleepover almost. With lots of cute hand gestures and makeup, really incorporating the gyaru style into the shoot.

I used a digital camera for these photos and I think they came out really good.

First studio photoshoot

These are some trial photos I had taken a few days ago by a photography peer. I really like the way these came out in the studio using the large camera. I don’t feel as though I like the ones taken with the digital camera in the studio as I feel that the light gets too blurry and doesn’t give me the crisp quality and neat finish I desire. (below)
