had jay dilla not greatly increased his profile through works with the likes of busta rhymes, following the obsoletion of a&m records, this album might not have been released. at the same time, tremendous acclaim from notables such as questlove of the the roots and q-tip built up anticipation for the long-delayed album. although sales were slow, the group nevertheless had a huge impact on the underground circuit and were proclaimed torch-bearers for the departing a tripe called quest.

while avant-garde saxophonist and bassist sam wilkes build around the classic jazz structure its title suggests, the misspelling speaks to its warped approach. the sax is processed and tweaked for maximum wooziness, with a steady bass line to return to, making the album a breezy bit of avant-garde blowing.

much of this album features yokota's dreamy, processed guitar as a distinctive sound tool. kodomotachi loops an acoustic guitar pattern to  create an almost hypnotic effect. the song also features a sample from joni mitchell’s song songs to aging children come from clouds. what an outstanding producer. rip.
