Probably because the issue of alcoholism runs through the entire season (vulnerability) + If I were to exaggerate my impressions of these 8 episodes Morty sees Rick as a sensitive addicted prick who is now not a partner but a burden that poses no threat to him anymore, so Morty can push him around and do whatever he wants—like twist his fucking grandpa however he pleases
