The 70th annual Cannes Film Festival begins today, May 17th and runs through the 28th in Cannes, France. Pictured here, 55 years ago, is French starlet Philomene Toulouse angling for attention with her pet fox and bare torso at the Cannes Film Festival in 1962. But it’s the youngster behind her that is garnering all the attention in this photo. (Paul Schutzer—The LIFE Picture Collection/Getty Images) #Cannes #CannesFilmFestival #France
The Khasis are a tribe in India that grow their own bridges. For generations they have passed down the art of tree-root manipulation, forming centuries-old ‘living bridges’ out of the powerful roots of the Ficus elastica trees. Source Source 2 Source 3

Honoring Motherhood with the Foster Moms
To see more photos of their family, follow @fostermoms on Instagram. Check out #MothersDay to see how our community is celebrating the holiday in the US.
“We used to refer to our family as a pop-up family because that’s really what we were,” says @fostermoms, two lesbian moms who originally were emergency foster parents, taking care of children who needed unplanned, short-term care. After fostering “Tiny” and “Sweet,” two brothers who came to their home two years ago as an infant and a toddler, they decided to adopt them. “It is a privilege,” they say of raising their family. “It’s about being this person in the lives of these kiddos who gets to be a part of their process, to guide them and be a part of the wonder that unfolds — to be present for the challenges and work through the stuff that is going to come up.” And the moms are learning from their kids: “They’ve taught us to just slow down and pay attention, and to appreciate them for who they are, for where they come from.”
