No Promises
There's some spark from me. Gone. A little part of my whimsy and wonder that I had to sacrifice to survive. I ain't special, bitch, everyone had to do this. Doesn't make it easier to stomach. A part of me now exists that judges, categorizes, and condemns everything. Everyone. Most especially myself. A part of who I used to be in real life and on the internet that is guarded, aloof, disinterested. I've been in survival mode for so long that I don't know what thriving is supposed to look like. And yet... if I take a step back I can see that I am in the best place, mentally and physically, that I have perhaps ever been in my life. I can make choices that no one else has the privilege of making because of the people who have cared for me. Time to be one of those people for myself.

Arielle Hebert, "The Inventors"
it IS surreal when companies decide to invent the torment nexus from hit media franchise "dont invent the torment nexus" but also to be fair a lot of "dont invent the torment nexus" stories are less "don't invent the torment nexus" and more "oh god has anyone noticed that we are dangerously close to inventing the torment nexus. can we please stop inventing the torment nexus. the torment nexus is maybe 2-3 years away. is anybody listening."
