NAME: Jacklynn "Jackie" Bing AGE: Twenty-Three SEXUALITY: Heterosexual HEIGHT: 5′5″ PRONOUNS: She/Her OCCUPATION: Streamer & Shopaholic
The feeling of Jackie’s fingers running through his hair was soothing, helping Randy temporarily forget about his battered face and the heartache that came after it. Obviously Tiffany wasn't going to sympathize with him, especially after the fight, and he knew his parents hardly would either upon their return; at least he had Jackie to do so instead.
Maybe he shouldn’t have been so butthurt about the breakup, about Dewey and Tiffany — after all, this was what he’d wanted. He spent so long complaining about Tiffany and behaving as if he wasn’t happy with his relationship … was he only upset because Dewey had what he couldn’t? Or was he realizing that he should’ve appreciated what he had before it was too late? Either way, the alcohol prevented him from fully processing any of that. He tried to focus on the present moment with Jackie instead, enjoying the peace and quiet of his parents' big house with her.
“I know,” he sighed. “But what do I think about instead?” Packing his stuff, leaving his and Tiffany’s home … everything revolved around Tiffany in his life. It was going to be a huge adjustment for him, and simply not thinking about it was easier said than done. Still, a small smile formed at the brunette’s reassurance. “Thanks … I’m not sure we can say the same for everyone else.” There was no telling what would happen within the friend group, whether their friends would pick sides or stay neutral. It was far too early in the breakup to see how things turned out with everyone else, but he still wondered. “.. So you really had no idea about her and Dewey either?”
Think about me, is what she thought, fingers still running through the strands of his hair. She could make him happy if he did. Not like Tiff— who clearly never did a great job as his girlfriend if this is how she let things end after years of both Randy and her being together. So what if Randy hadn’t been so perfect himself? He was just a flirt, and everyone knew that flirting can be harmless fun if you don’t take any of it seriously. Hell, the Racers flirt among themselves all the time!
“Think of this as a new beginning for you—” Is what Jackie ended up saying instead, pausing as she looked down at him, her gaze locking with Randy’s. “Like, try and spin this situation as a good thing instead of a bad one.” It was easier said than done, she got that, and she can bet that he wouldn’t take that advice as lightly either because how can he view his breakup with Tiffany as a good thing when she was the one who cheated? Simple, now that he wasn’t tied down to her, Randy finally had all the freedom to do whatever he wanted. Or whoever he wanted. “If she wants to move on with someone else, so can you! You have the chance to find someone better— the opportunity to show her you can find someone better.” Like me, the brunette once again thought. She could be better for him.
With a sigh, she shook her head. “I didn’t have a single clue.” She honestly said. If Tiff had told her about this Dewey guy sooner than for sure she would have mentioned it to Randy. Unless she had been promised to secrecy to not bring it up to him— ugh, who was she kidding, Jackie so would’ve broken girl code and mention Dewey to Randy even if Tiff had made her promise. She wasn’t Candice, if Tiff wanted to cheat than her boyfriend had the right to know. “She never mentioned hanging out with some other guy who wasn’t part of the crew. And if she had, I would’ve told you…… I genuinely thought you two were going strong.”
Glade had mostly been joking about getting highlights, just trying to mimic the kind of conversation Jackie might have with one of their girl friends, but her apparent excitement over the idea made him wonder if it would be worth giving a real thought. He didn’t know much, if anything, about hair-styling. He was already skeptical at the suggestion of bleach blond highlights (wasn’t that a little too much?—he didn’t want to look like a skunk) but the next idea made Glade’s eyes widen. “Cherry red?” Now he wasn’t sure Jackie wasn’t just picking her own favorite color, rather than what would actually suit him. “You know I wear orange most days?” He wasn’t a color expert, but he was pretty sure that would clash. “I mean, I guess I could wear more neutrals…”
As he pointed out his very obvious color palette of orange that he usually wears, Jackie rolled her eyes at him. “Obviously I know that, you’re decked in orange right now.” She pointed out, realizing that Glade didn’t get where she was going with when she suddenly suggested for him to dye his hair a cherry red. And it wasn’t because cherry red happened to be her preferred color of choice (which was a superior color compared to orange), no— the brunette really believed that if he were to dye his hair a bright color, it would look so good on him. And the reason why she suggested cherry red over any other color was because red happens to look phenomenal with orange. “Don’t you know that red and orange compliments each other really well? If anything, dying your hair a cherry red will bring out the usual orange you wear, which is why I know you’ll look awesome with that hair color!” Jackie explained, before nudging her younger friend. “Like, tell me we don’t look so good next to each other whenever I’m in red and you in orange? And you already are good looking on your own— the cherry red is to give you an extra umpth.”
“Dewey,” Tiffany corrected, shooting Jackie a weird look, but not otherwise commenting on her misunderstanding of his name despite Tiff’s having just used it in her brief recounting of events. Jackie was being a supportive enough friend listening to her dating woes—she could be afforded a little grace for not paying full attention to the details…even if Candice had been more than attentive and easily followed every part of the story when she was told everything on the night of the Halloween ball. Maybe that was the issue: Jackie still didn’t understand the full context of everything that had happened, only the surface level explanation Tiff had provided. She hadn’t exactly wanted to get into all the gory details and have all that shit spread throughout the wider friend group, but maybe it wouldn’t hurt to answer her questions so Jackie at least knew the whole truth before trickling the most important information down.
“Honestly…thinking like that? That it would all be for nothing if we ever broke up…That just would just keep us in a bad relationship for the rest of our lives. Like, there has to be a point when you can’t just stay around for what used to be there.” It seemed so obvious in retrospect, but the truth was that this fallacy had kept Tiffany and Randy together for years despite all the reasons they should have called it quits sooner. The jealousy, arguments and pettiness—their emotional incompatibility stapled together with attraction, convenience, and a lifelong friendship that would be inevitably tainted when they broke up. “So, like, no. Dewey didn’t make me realize that it was wrong with Randy. He just made me realize that it was worth letting him go, because there’s better waiting for me.” She paused, feeling like she still wasn’t getting her meaning through entirely. “I mean, like, I would have just accepted the bare minimum from Randy because I love him—I loved him—but being around Dewey, he gives me so much more than that.” If she could have love and effort, the answer was obvious.
Wow. Like Wow. In all the years Jackie has known both Tiffany and Randy, one thing has always been clear— those two were stuck together. They’ve been dating for as long as she can remember, not being able to recall a time where the couple had broken up even after any of their misunderstandings. Even with Randy being a known flirt and is seen flirting with many random girls and guys alike, Tiffany was still dating him. Perhaps it was because of the unspoken knowledge that even if anyone tried to get between the power couple, that person would only come out falling short because at the end of the day, Randy would pick Tiffany and Tiffany would pick Randy. Or so Jackie thought. The brunette’s brows were raised high, taking note at the weird look the the other girl was giving her after correcting the name of that Phooey—sorry, Dewey— guy. Damn, Dewey must have made a hell of an impression on Tiffany for her to get defensive over him. Then again, he clearly made a great impression if all it took was meeting him for her friend to finally break things off with Randy. Must have better dick game, she wondered refraining from rolling her eyes, despite her friend not mentioning any relations she’s had with Dewey. Or maybe she got tired trying to keep up with Randy's.
“Sorry, but loved?” Jackie repeated, now looking more surprised by all of this. So wait, she was serious about breaking up with Randy? Like yeah, Tiffany was saying that she was planning on doing so but despite mentioning this Dewey guy, a small part of her mind didn’t believe that was happening. Tiffany and Randy had gone through so much throughout their years of dating, it was becoming a point where she and the rest of the racers were waiting for when their wedding was announced. The two shared a home and a pet for fucks sake! “Wow, you’re totally serious about breaking up with him then. But Tiff— you and Randy live together.” The brunette rebuttal, acting as if she didn’t already know how either of the two hasn’t been around their shared place in a while. It had been back at Randy’s parents home was when she had came to visit him and since then he’s been living there. But Jackie assumed over time once the two had cooled down, they’ll talk and patch things up or whatever. “If you two break up then are you planning on kicking Randy out and living there all by yourself? Move Dewey in instead?” Now that she thought about it, how long has Tiffany knew this Dewey guy anyways? “Wait, back it up for one minute— How long have you known this Dewey guy? If he’s so right for you, why haven’t you ever mentioned him before?”
Glade snickered at the light smack Jackie gave him for his misstep of not acknowledging that she was always at maximum hotness. He acquiesced, raising his hands in a surrender with amusement in his tone as he said, “My bad.” He could think of a few ways she could be even hotter, but if he said anything more inappropriate or flirtatious than he already had, he knew he was in for more than a playful slap. There was a line between being racy and being disgusting, and while he enjoyed being the trouble-maker among their clique, he never wanted to go too far. Plus, even if Jackie was hot, he would never actually try anything with her; they were too close as friends. “Sure, hook me up,” he agreed to her offer, doubting whether she was actually serious about sending him to her salon, but deciding to play along anyway. He shook out his own hair (which was getting pretty long for himself these days; he probably did need a trim) and mimicked Jackie’s posing. “Should I get highlights?”
“You so should!” At the suggestion to getting highlights, Jackie’s eyes shined with interest before she nodded. He would look so cute with highlights in his hair! Of course, Glade always was cute to Jackie— the brunette not needing to do much of anything for her to want and baby him over how adorable she found him to be. But at the thought of him getting highlights in his hair? “Maybe some bleached blonde highlights?” Jackie commented, reaching over and entwining her fingers through a few strands. Actually, why stop with highlights? She thinks he would look really good if he bleached his hair entirely. Maybe not full on blonde but— “Okay, but I have a better idea on what you should do— How about bleaching and dying your hair entirely?” The brunette suggested, trying to imagine what hair color would look best on Glade. “A cherry red would look super fire on you.”

What started as Randy drunk texting Jackie hav u talked 2 Tiff?? soon turned into Randy inviting her over. Well, over to his parents. After the official breakup, both Tiffany and Randy went off their separate ways from the house, Tiffany likely checking on Dewey upon learning about the fight, and Randy going to his parents' house knowing no one would be there. The Fluggerbutters went on yet another vacation without their son for Halloween, unaware that they’d be returning home to their only child beginning to move his things back in. In the meantime, Randy got into his dad’s stash of alcohol again, which was what led him to this point. It was honestly a relief that he could have his parents' place to himself for a few days, to not hear them bitch and complain the moment they heard the news about the breakup. Instead, he wanted to be around the one person that he knew wouldn’t judge him or make him feel bad about everything that happened — Jackie. His face was still not pretty but he was taking a short break from icing it, practically feeling numb by now with a little thanks to his dad’s booze. Now, he was lying across the couch with his head in Jackie’s lap, looking up at her with sad eyes. Maybe it was the emptiness he was feeling that made him want Jackie's attention tonight, or maybe it was because he knew deep down that they'd had brief moments of flirting in the past that they never really talked about — was he doing this just to spite Tiffany, knowing she had Dewey by her side to comfort her and make her happy? Right now, he wasn't sober enough to think that deeply into it. He was just glad he didn't have to be alone tonight. Randy sighed. "I just keep thinking about them together," he confessed. "They get to be happy and then I'm just... the asshole that gets left behind."
[ text ] : hav u talked 2 Tiff?
At the sight of that text lighting up the screen of her phone, Jackie knew that this was going to be one of those nights. It was late in the evening, and while most had chosen to attend the Halloween Ball, the brunette had decided not to attend. She meant to, had her outfit decided with it’s matching mask and everything, however, just as she was about to step foot outside the door of her home, her parents had refrained her for they wanted to talk to her. To say the least, after a rather drawn out and and mentally draining conversation with her mother and father, the brunette hadn’t been much for a partying mood. And so she stayed home. Which now, after responding back with a ‘No? Why?’ text to Randy, had her wondering if maybe she should have. And after a couple of back and forth messages, she now found herself sitting against the couch at Randy’s parent’s home, with Randy’s head laying against her lap. Gently running her fingers through his hair as an attempt to sooth him, Jackie shook her head. She couldn’t believe what she was told. Tiffany had cheated on Randy with some other guy, and she’s been doing so for months??? Then she had the guts to run away with him at the ball even for sometime and then this same guy dared to start a fight with her Randy, leaving marks and imperfections on to his handsome face— the sight in which had horrified her when she saw him after coming here.
“This is all fresh for you, obviously you’re going to keep thinking about them. But you know what you need to start doing instead?” Jackie began, once again running a hand through his hair, this time curling the ends with her finger just as she continued. “—Stop thinking about them.” She advised. Oh, how she was secretly pissed off inside for Randy at this news. Yeah, it was no secret that despite for how long Tiff and Randy has been together, that their relationship wasn’t as perfect as to seemed. Ooh, how Jackie knew how un-perfect it was, with the way the two were constantly breaking up before getting back together again, she never understood why the two didn’t stay broken up for good. Then again, in most cases, Randy was the reason behind their constant break up, as he would always flirt with another girl, causing Tiff to get jealous and break up with him. And yet despite knowing that her boyfriend had the habit of straying, her friend would always take him back. And maybe that was because Randy never did anything more than flirt. So it was shocking to hear that it had been Tiff who cheated in the end. “Besides, how can you say you're left behind? You have me, and I’m so not about to let you deal with all this alone.”
"You were already at almost-maximum hotness, but now you look like a sexy, tan Rapunzel. Ugh, the dream." -Glade ( @gladeorange )
Letting out a laugh at his statement, Jackie playfully smacked Glade against the arm. “First of all, there is no almost— I am always at maximum hotness, thanks.” The brunette clarified, as she would have been insulted at anyone else for even saying that to her if it weren’t for the fact that it had been Glade who had said it. The only reason he was allowed to get away with it was because he was Glade. And she happened to have quite the soft spot for him. Still, Jackie rolled her eyes at him before she continued. “And secondly, thank you. That was quite the dramatic way of saying you like the new hairdo, but I’ll accept it.” At that, the girl playfully flipped her now longer hair over her shoulder and struck a pose before playfully winking at him. “I can totally give you the number to the hair salon if you want. Can even hook you up with a discount~”
"They say that if it's right, you know." -Tiffany ( @taffytm )
As she refrained herself from rolling her eyes, there was instead, a small yet understanding like smile on her face. When both Tiffany and Candice had shot her a text earlier within their group chat of just them three about coming over to Candice’s place, Jackie had the suspicion on what the reason might be. Granted, she shouldn’t be making assumptions when the three of them had spend plenty of time together— exclusive girl time for that matter, however, it wasn’t lost among herself and the other racers of how there was a sudden shift among the group. Ergo, the lack of presences to be exact. And more importantly— the lack of a so-called-power couple’s presences together. But unlike the rest of the racers, she knew the exact reason of why was that. As the image of Randy’s bruised face flashed within her mind and his drunken confession of what Tiff had done, it had not be a shock nor a surprise to Jackie when her friend told her how she and Randy were broken up— “For good”. Oh, and to put that little cherry straight on the top, Tiff ended her explanation about how she met with some guy—Phooey or whatever—which then lead to the other girl in making such a statement.
“Wow, so meeting this, um, Phooey? Guy, is all that it took for you to realize that what you had with Randy never felt right?” Jackie suddenly questioned, now with a curious look on her face. “So all these years of dating Randy was all for nothing then?"
