Hey younger me
I wish I could warn you of all the horrors that will happen in your life. The heartbreaks. The divorce. The bullying. The loss of friends. And how drastically you’ll change. But I can’t because all of those things shaped you to be who you are in this day in age. Maybe a bit broken and taped together, but still together.
I will warn you of one thing: depression. Hey younger me, you don’t know much about death. You haven’t seen a death in the family nor anyone close to you. You don’t fully understand the magnitude of those that it affects, but when you get older, it’ll be something you want. Almost need. And when those feelings come, tell someone and stop. When you’re 23, you’ll have a great boyfriend, who happens to be your greatest blessing and best friend. You’ll also have a cat that you love more than the general human population. You also will have new parents and step siblings that expand your family much bigger like you’ve always wanted. You would have just graduated with a degree and did the big college thing. Even with all these things, you’ll feel sad. You’ll go about your day with this emptiness that often can’t be explained. You’ll be in your head most of the time. You’ll have these episodes, like TVs, where you’re just bit extra sad and you don’t know why. There will be days where your heart physically aches because you do not understand the tortures your own body puts you through. And that’s okay, actually it’s not because it feel like hell, but it WILL be okay.
You’ll get opportunities to rid of toxic people in your life, and you will. You’ll get opportunities to change your life path to do what makes YOU happy and you’ll take them. You’ll travel the world, and see and meet beautiful people. You’ll learn more than you ever can imagine just through taking to students just like you in different countries. You’ll be sad and you’ll struggle, but you’ll have moments and holding onto those moments is the only thing that’ll keep you alive.
