⊰ ☥ ⊱ – Perhaps it was the uncertainty that went along with first meetings, acquainting oneself with complete strangers, but Silent couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling building within her. She couldn’t pinpoint why she felt that way, and it wasn’t an overly alarming feeling – yet.
She knew better, however, than to brush it off as nothing. Three thousand years of existence taught her at least that much. For now, she would keep it in mind, and exercise caution where she could while she was here.
“Indeed they are,” She murmured, picking her wording carefully as she spoke. “It is because of their flawed nature, thirst for blood and conquest that I do not associate with them.” She paused and shook her head so very slightly. “No, I misspoke. There has been only one human I have ever bowed to. After her passing, I vowed never to serve another.”
A couple of quick blinks later, Silent cast her gaze around them. She wished to believe that these halls were as good and pure as they came across as. Yet the unyielding feeling within her made her wary.
“May I ask you something? What teachings are you referring to?” She couldn’t help but to wonder if they were anything like hers, or nothing at all.
☼ ——
Her questioning was getting to be direct, forward. A studious trait, of course, but one that required him to watch his words and cast his own sort of spell with a silver tongue. While in his realm most dared not ask of anything, at least not in his own presence. Once again, he found himself pleasantly refreshed.
“A pity,” he chided, a look of admonished sorrow fleeting upon his face before one of mild distaste replaced it. To serve under a human was a sad fate, in his eyes. Filthy creatures. “How cruel to be subject to the whim of another, and a human no less. You must be an incredibly capable mage to have been summoned to the human realm.”
His eyes lit up at once with her asking, his devotion to his words bleeding into his speech. “My people, the Lightsworn, are vowed to defend the Light and all its subjects. I have spent eons recruiting worthy souls to join in such a noble cause. We shun the darkness and the havoc it brings to any land, and will destroy it no matter where it may arrive.”
Casting a curious glance at his guest, Faysel nodded, content with this answer. “I’ll not bore you by going into the more eloquent verses of our teachings, as this is a casual conversation and you are not a student. Your question brings up an interesting path, however. How do your own teachings differ? As one of the Light’s children, do you feel the same?”

Faysel watched as the boy blathered on, awed by the sheer inane nature of humanity. How far they as a species must have fallen to permit such empty words and idle speech. Had they no sense of dignity or decorum? The boy, this Ryo, talked an awful lot for someone who looked half-dead. For all the dragon had known, he’d just saved this human’s poor, pitiful existence. Should he not be praised for that?
“ Your name is really of no concern to me.” The situation was over, his curiosity and compassion sated. One human ‘saved’ was plenty to soothe his conscience. But why this human? Was it the appearance, such a superficial thing? Or was it the aura of defiant light he could sense within? Either way, it seemed his efforts had been for naught “Though. . . I suppose it can be considered a boon that you have not passed on too early.”

⊰ ☥ ⊱ – The sorceress faced him fully, now. She remained quiet for a moment, carefully studying the being before her. Her expression was unreadable, at best, neutral. From what she could gather was that he was assertive, in his own right.
But more so than that, she sensed certain wisdom within his words; the words that she imagined could only be spoken by one who had lived for many, many moons. She could respect that.
“There is merit to your words,” Softly she began. “Perhaps it is that very power that has led me to this world. Humans have proven to be… so finicky, if you will. Abusers of power. In my earlier years, I was very familiar with that which was granted – and that which was not. You have made a respectable point, though it is a shame not many share that sentiment.”
She folded her hands in front of her, not wanting to unintentionally come across as a threat, nor intruder. She had no ill will, of course, but this realm was not her own.
“You need not apologize. Your realm, this light… I felt drawn to it. It is what I was created from. If anything, I apologize for any intrusion I have made here.”
☼ ——
His eyes kept a vigil over her form: unblinking, unwavering. Of course there was merit to his words— Anything that came from his mouth was divine, exalted. Or so he’d been conditioned to believe. But words were words, simple as that, and he sensed no malice in her speech. Yet something still drove him to be cautious, and whether that was his own paranoia or something greater eluded him.
“Humans are a flawed kind. They toy with forces they do not understand, have no hope of understanding, and then expect the best. They live such short miserable lives and are capable of doing so much damage during them. Despite this, they persist and thrive. It’s shocking that they’ve lasted this long without destroying their own world. They’ve certainly tried.”
Faysel put on a smile then, his dour tone and speech replaced for something he hoped could pass for pleasant. This magician, while strange, was not an enemy. It was true that she was a kin of the light, even if not a part of his people.
“You’ve caused no intrusion, as it is an honor indeed for another of the light’s chosen to step foot into this place. You are a guest in our halls and will be treated thusly. All who follow the teachings of the Light are welcome here.”

☼ ——
It had been, he mused, an awfully long time since one not of his kind had ventured into the Realm of Light, and an even longer time since someone had shown the nerve to speak in his presence. While power and status was in abundance as according to his position, companionship was not, and the sound of another’s voice was refreshing in a way.
“Powerless, no. We have as much power as is granted to us. However, that does not permit us to use it in such ways as to defy the rules of life placed upon those who are subject to it.”
He kept a respectable distance, visually gathering the knowledge that this was some form of spellcaster and while he was not entirely threatened by that knowledge, he still would prefer not to anger one. They could be extremely volatile when provoked.
“My apologies, I did not mean to startle you. You are simply a stranger here, and I but a curious being. What brings you to this realm?”
—— ☼
“Thanks for picking me up on the street corner like a prostitute.”
☼ ——
It was an idea that he was sure to regret very soon, Faysel thought. Humans were, after all, such weak creatures. Why spend the energy to make himself take a tangible form in their shape? He’d long since thought himself devoid of that sort of compassion.
“Do not mistake my intentions. You looked like a wretch standing there in the cold. Have you no sense of self preservation?”
—— ☼
"I remember when stars filled the night sky and cities were practically nonexistent."
☼ ——
“Is that so?”
It was a surprise that the human could even detect his presence, let alone see him. Not often was it that Faysel visited the human realm, much more content in his pristine and enlightened world, though something had drawn him here. A heroic being, perhaps? While recruitment wasn’t exactly his role in the Lightsworn guard, it didn’t mean that he couldn’t do scouting of his own. Even if the sheer thought of being around normal mortals gave him pause, a select few were worthy.
“You speak as if you have seen it with your own eyes.”

"What's it like to be immortal?"
"How old ARE you?"

“Apparently when you have a fight with a friend you’re supposed to apologize.”
“When deception cuts this deep, someone has to pay.”
“As of late, I find my perception is blinded by only one thing: Revenge.”
“And here I thought you were offering me a way out of this.”
“Why are you so interested in this girl, anyway?”
“Don’t let them see your weakness. That’s the first thing they’ll use against you.”
“Trust is the one luxury I cannot afford.”
“The worst betrayals come from those we trust the most.”
“Thanks for picking me up on the street corner like a prostitute.”

He has returned.
“There are more wonders than you can imagine….er…friend.” He said wondering just who this was and where they had come from.
“As for the heroes, though they do not announce themselves in the fashion I am certain you are accustomed to I assure you they are among us.”
☼——
“I see.”
In actuality, he didn’t at all, but the stranger already looked perplexed enough— he wouldn’t add to it if it would tax the poor human’s mind. “You say there are heroes among you. Wonders. I can sense that there’s something. . . different about you, and I assume this is how you know these things.”
——☼
“Then you shall have to come live in mine and undo what has been done. Tell your men to return to how they once were, there is still time for things to return to how they were. You are their king, you are practically their god. If anyone can, it is you." She looked up at him, pleading with him to listen. She did not want to see a world destroyed, not again.
☼ ——
Faysel stared at her for a moment, thoughts reeling in his head. Of course he’d considered the parallels, the little idiosyncrasies that showed the secrets of a crumbling realm. If it was the God’s will, it would be done. There was little either of them could do to stop it.
“I. . . I do not understand.” In a show of frustration, he gripped the table harder, the wood splintering under his grip. He was furious, angered beyond anything, ready to take the fight straight to the Gods and displace them in fucking time if he so had to—
But that would be a foolish notion, he thought, trying to calm his thoughts to no avail. He had only come to inform Kisara of his fate, not worry her with it. “My warriors are only doing what they feel is right, Kisara. Why the Gods take offense to this is beyond my scope of understanding.”
—— ☼

☼ ——
“You have got to be kidding me, mage.”
“You want me to—to lower myself to this pitiful human standard of living? While some can find it. . . quaint, I suppose, it’s not nearly enough for my requirements.” Faysel scoffed, then, his pristine wings ruffled in agitation behind him. “The human realm is lacking, and nigh unfit for the inhabitants that do live here. What makes you think I’ll agree to this challenge of yours?”

“You are being a fool, Kisara.” He shook his head, a growl lingering in his throat and his hands gripping the table between them tightly. “There is nothing that can be done at this point— You know as well as I do that the Higher Gods’ wills are immovable, unwilling to move, in fact.”
“They claim my realm has grown too strong, too fast. That we have shied away from our duty as protectors and now only seek to benefit for our own gain. This is— heresy.”
