“Colours At The Bus Stop”
COLOURS AT THE BUS STOP is a sort of deconstructed bucholic landscape in the heart of Po Valley where the artist was raised. The rassignation of the people about the typical fog and cold winter weather of this place has been subject of studies and antropologic research by Rhum who interpretates and translates this cynical behaviours into an abstract ironic key made out of her iconic shapes and signs, getting inspired by the earthy colours. The urban influences are vibrant and strong, the artist indeed gets inspired by the environment to intend the letters of her name RHUM created by shapes and elements, as per the graffiti culture.
The artist says: "...When I was at primary, my maths teacher called my mother to a meeting. Mum was really upset and I didn't know what was wrong so she took me with her. When we sat in the classroom , the teacher showed us my exercise books making us notice that I was drawing eyes to the letters of the headlines or to the numbers in dates. The teacher was disappointed about that <<she should be serious!>>. I was 6, my mum laughed and I decided that being serious that way wasn't my thing! I always wanted to give things a life: numbers, letters, shapes. Everything deserve a couple of eyes and a bit of irony!"
