Nickname(s):
"My name is literally four letters long. If you really think you need to shorten that, go ahead, but I'm just sticking with Nova."
Species:
"Demigod."
Age:
"Fourteen."
Gender/Pronouns:
"Genderfluid. I use pretty much whatever, but he/they is usually the safest bet if you're confused."
(OOC: AFAB)
Sexuality:
"Why do you even want to know that? Mind your own business."(OOC: Pansexual)
Godly parent:
"Hecate. Goddess of magic."(OOC: Legacy of Apollo too, but it wont be revealed yet)
Powers:
"Basic Hecate kid stuff. As for anything else... why are you digging into my capabilities? I'm not giving you a manual on how to counter me."(OOC: Mist manipulation, illusions, slightly stronger light-based magic, an advanced memory, potion-making, and curses among other stuff.)
Personality:
Nova looks pretty cold, and can get somewhat prickly, but is mostly polite. They are an overthinker with high walls, but they are a total sweetheart once you get to know them. They hate being alone but also hate approaching people (moderate social anxiety, undiagnosed). They also do not let people in easily, which ends up being very counterproductive. They are a really smart child (child genius coded), but they did not really get to stay in school long enough to finish. (when they attended school, they were few grades ahead. They dropped out when they were 11 and in 9th grade)
[OOC and extra info under the cut :3]
Backstory:
Dad ditched them at birth, leaving them to grow up in an orphanage until they were 8. After that, they were dropped into the foster system. The first family blamed them for their ADHD/dyslexia (saying that they were curses cause he was a devil spawn or whatever) and tried to force-feed them fish—which they're severely allergic to—because they thought allergies were fake and they were making it up for attention. Nova chose to starve rather than eat it until they were sent back, (they still have health issues carried over from that).
The next house was a crowded, abusive nightmare run by drunks. Nova spent their time taking hits for the smaller kids, while stealing money and stuff from the foster parents to stash for later. While Nova was out one day, the foster dad beat a 6-year-old girl named Sofia—who Nova was super close to—badly enough to kill her.
The dad got arrested, and Nova was sent back to the orphanage but they ran away. They took the smuggled money, a box of their documents, hair clips (that used to be Sofia's) and a necklace that was on them when they were first dropped in the orphanage, which they later figured out turned into their weapon. Then they stayed on the run till a satyr spotted them and dragged them to camp. They were claimed late too. (They were claimed during a fight when the satyr had spotted them, by Hecate.)
They have never met/spoken to Hecate or anything so they don't have any particular history with their mother. They are also new to camp at the time of this post
(OOC - edit: I figured I should mention that there is a LOT more to the backstory, cause I like traumatizing my oc's to show my love 😃 - but more stuff will be revealed as Nova's story progresses)

Correction, he knew how he got here. What he didn’t know was why it dragged on for this long.
He didn’t intend to wander so far from camp, but he did. And so here he was, perched on a tree to escape a dog that had chased him for far longer than he’d like.
Sometimes the prince of flowers wished he had the ability to understand all animals instead of insects and birds. Maybe then he’d ask all the dogs in the world why they hated him so much.
Lilium clutched the branch he was on, watching as the dog below growled at him.
“BARK BARK BARK!”
“You’re so cute looking.. Why do you hate me so much?” He asked dejectedly, knowing he won’t get an answer back. No, he was not pouting. You’re delusional. Hallucinating, even.
Nova had come into the forest to practice with their staff a bit. It had been a few days since they got to camp, they didn't really have much to do and figured they should at least practice so they didn't get rusty.
They were in a clearing stretching and doing some flexibility exercises when the sound of the dogs barking and Liliums speaking reached them.
Nova silently moved to the noise and spotted Lilium on the tree and the barking dog underneath, sighing in relief a bit when they saw that it wasn't something serious.
They crept behind the dog, taking a quiet breath before willing the image of Lilium in the tree to disappear from the dogs view, hoping to calm it down before approaching.
(Nova doesn't know how to properly use/manipulate the mist yet, but before whenever they had to they could do this one thing to make themselves disappear, that's what they are doing right now. also - hi :3)
"Shit" Nova thought, "fuck ok, think... if it can focus on where its prey is by the smell all I have to do...is change its focus point"
Nova figured since they were a child of the magic goddess surely they should be able to do something even if they hadn't learnt anything specifically yet.
They crouched on the floor and put their hands on the ground Infront of them, closing their eyes and trying to make it seem like Liliums scent (which was clearly aggravating the dog) was coming from everywhere instead of from a single point so they could confuse the dog.
In turn, the dog turned its head away from Lilium. Confused by the change in scent, it sniffed the air again, barking as it ran off to where it perceived Lilium to be.
Upon seeing this, Lilium sighed, slumping in relief against the branch he was on.
“Goodness..” he mumbled in ancient Greek, followed by reciting a small prayer of gratitude before he could stop himself.
A small habit of his, one that’s gotten him strange looks from others for reasons he didn’t understand. Oh well, not like there was anyone here.
Nova tilted their head curiously from where they were crouched, though they could automatically understand the other demigod's words they were also able to recognize that it wasnt english.
However they didnt really have time to think about that right now, 'Oh no, another new person to talk to' Nova thought helplessly before gathering themself and stepping forward calling out softly and uncertain, "Hello? um..are you alright?"
"oh no no, its alright, i wasnt doing anything too important" Nova waved off, walking closer so that they were directly below the tree the other demigod was on.
"Um would you like some help getting down?" they offered hesitantly.
“Yes please,” he answered immediately, pausing before adding, “If you can.”
Truth be told, Lilium hadn’t a clue how he was going to get down. Sure, he could ask the tree for help, but he felt he was already asking too much by just sitting there.
The only idea he had was simply jumping down and letting the flowers catch him which, ouch.
Nova thought for a minute before suggesting “uhm so either you can jump and I catch you orrr if the branch your on is sturdy enough I can get up there and carry you down on my back?”
They knew that there probably were better ways to do it specially since they could do magic technically (!) but they hadn’t learnt anything and didn’t know how to use their powers properly so they weren’t going to risk hurting the other demigod.
Nova knew they didn’t really look it given their thin appearance but they were reasonably certain they would be able to hold Lilium up.
Nova shrugged, "I'm reasonably certain that I can?" they say hesitantly. <they were used to helping the younger ones in the orphanage and used to carry Sofia and her friends all the time before...yeah> "If you fall though, you might wanna fall forward so I don't damage your wings when catching you" they suggest.<Nova was determinedly not thinking about the fact that holy shit people had wings here too>
"Or I could get up there, its your choice really, either way don't worry, i wont drop you or anything"
<even they did Nova would make sure to take the brunt of it. they were used to taking hits back when they were on the streets but Lilium didn't look like he could>
“I..” Lilium hummed in thought, still hesitant. “I don’t really care for whatever damage my wings get. Not like it can hurt more than this,” he mumbled the last bit to himself.
“But just to be safe..” he glanced down at the ground below, watching as bundles of yellow stonecrop sprouted from the dirt.
Nova watched amazed at the flowers sprouting instantly
‘There’s like a gazillion different uses to growing plants like this wow’ they thought hysterically ‘magic flowers huh, wonder what Sofia would have said to this.’
”Ok,” Nova agreed softly shaking off their thoughts while moving to stand positioned to catch the other boy. “Whenever you’re ready then” they said simply
Lilium took one last glance at Nova’s face, feathers fluffing up behind him.
Then, without hesitation, he threw himself backwards.
The boy was being genuine when he said he didn’t care for whatever damage that came out of this, despite his very low pain tolerance. He just hoped the flowers will make things a bit easier for Nova in case they fell as well.
Nova moved fast and without hesitation scooped Lilium out of the air, stumbling a bit with his weight and half crashing against the tree. They quickly managed to right themselves and stand on their feet.
Then they immediately checked on Lilium first thing “Are you ok?” they asked worriedly, “I didn’t hurt you right? Any injuries?”

TW'S : None (shockimg im not doing angst of her rn..)
Simone was sitting on a picnic blanket, art supplies all over the picnic blanket, messy paint brushes, paint, papers and canvas', pencils... etcetera. He stuck her tongue out as he sketched out the lake and trees onto the canvas in front of her, humming.
Simone looked over his shoulder, raising an eyebrow, "oh? Hello! Do you need something!" She smiled.

Nova had been looking for a quiet place to sit and read for a while when they stumbled upon where Simone was sitting
Their cabin felt suffocating and quite lonely since they hadn't really spoken to (or even met really) any of their siblings properly so they had tentatively decided to sit by the lake.
"Oh sorry!" Nova said nervously "I was just looking for a place to read and stuff, I didn't realize you were already here, sorry. I'll uhm leave you to it" They said hurriedly turning around.
They hesitated for a second before sitting down nearby, leaning against a tree while making sure not to intrude on the older's space.
"Sorry" Nova said sheepishly again, "You can continue like ..whatever you were doing, didn't mean to interrupt" they added fiddling with the book in their hands
Simone finished sketching the trees, double checking she got everything sketched before opening some blue paint, putting a bit onto a palette, mixing some other colours up.
He started painting in the lake, humming a song to herself.
Nova had gradually loosened up and moved so they were lying on their stomach, placing their book and notepad down, brows furrowing as they wrote. They unconsciously started slightly swinging their legs in the air behind them as they half listened to Simone humming too.
her (hope im using the pronouns right >.<) voice is nice

Aster had heard that there was a new Hecate kid so obviously they wanted to meet him, after all she usually gets along with cabin twelve, or most of them anyway. He walked up to the cabin, knocking rather loudly on the door before shouting to say it wasn't cabin inspection.
@holographic-homo
Nova, who had been fiddling with their few clothes, trying to figure out how to unpack looked up at the sound of the voice. "Yes?'' they called out distractedly, <they had fallen back quite easily into the dynamic of living with multiple kids, despite having left the orphanage ages ago> placing a pair of shorts down before turning to look at the camper at the door.
''Uh...hello?'' Nova greeted unsurely, '''were you looking for someone specific? cause well...'' they gesture around the empty cabin ''there isn't anyone here but me'' they say wryly.
"Hi! You're new here, right? Someone mentioned a new Hecate kid." he tilted their head, looking at Nova, "I'm Aster, child of Iris, I use any pronouns, gender is stupid. Uh anyways, nice to meet ya! What's your name?"
"Ah, no no, its alright" Nova said hurriedly "I don't have that much to unpack anyway" they reassured Aster. <the part of them basically engraved by politeness protested strongly at the thought>
"Uh, can I ask what Iris is the god/goddess of?" Nova asked hesitant but curious as they folded up a few more clothes into piles, not particularly neat, but organized nonetheless
"Oh! no I haven't actually, I just got to the cabin like half an hour ago and to camp a little while before that" they explain sheepishly
"Also, uh Drachma?" they ask confused
"Oh yeah, some campers that are brought here by other demigods or satyrs Iris message camp to make Chiron aware or ask for help. Iris messages are where you make a rainbow and throw in a drachma – which is an ancient greek coin – and do a lil prayer to my mum like 'Oh Iris, goddess of the rainbow, please accept my offering. Show me...' then whoever and wherever ya wanna call. It's sort of like a video call I guess" she explains, balancing their cane against the bed frame.
"Wow" Nova mutters, "this place just keeps getting weirder and weirder"
"The goat-dude did say that phones were dangerous before he took mine." they grumbled, "I was really tempted to deck him over the head, but turns out he might actually have been legit" they huff putting the cloth piles into cabinets near their bunk
"It is really weird, but hey, at least it's safe. Yeah, phones somehow attract monsters...? The Hepheastus kids have been working on making demigod safe phones, I'd recommend not volunteering to try them out just yet, Leo's last prototype blew up. The goat dude you're talking 'bout was probably a satyr."
"Noted" Nova said somewhat incredulous "Don't volunteer to try out phones or I'll get blown up" they sum up amused
"And the satyr-guy was an ass so i think im gonna keep calling him goat-dude, it really got on his nerves before anyway" they grumble putting away the last of their clothes
"Oh, well, that sounds nice.." They smile hesitantly, not used to people wanting to talk to them so easily.(and especially not without ulterior motives)
"I would like that, thank you" They say polite and a little nervous while fiddling with their rings.
"Morgan..is your friend?" Nova asks hesitantly "Because if they are then I'm probably not going to be much help, unless you want me to be rude and stuff" they shrug
"Ares...that's the god of war and weapons and stuff yea?" Nova asks a bit interested
"Does <hope im using the right pronouns> she know how to use many different weapons?" They ask curiously "cause I figured it might come under her domain yea?"
“Yes she does(you’re correct). Morgan specializes in long range weapons. Her condition makes it difficult for her to fight up close and personal,”Rowan replies
Nova hesitates for a second ultimately deciding not to be nosy and dosent mention the condition part
sofia would have scolded them in her tiny voice if they had been so insensitive
"Oh thats cool" they say excited "I mainly fight long range too" they add
"Oh, well, that sounds nice.." They smile hesitantly, not used to people wanting to talk to them so easily.(and especially not without ulterior motives)
