As much as he loathed the social obligation of having to attend a school function, it was the least he can do after news of Betty snubbing one Archie Andrews for Riverdale’s very own Nicholas Cruz broke all around school. He was a little impressed, because Dilton Doiley was in fact the only kid Jughead would hand over his title of ‘weirdo’ to without a fight but it was mostly because no one (not even him) could quite figure out what Dilton did alone in the woods all summer with a pocket knife and ten feet of rope.

The massive impact of the news made it impossible for Jughead to refuse accompanying his hapless ginger friend to Riverdale’s Sadie Hawkins dance to spare him the ridicule of their entire junior class for the rest of the school year. He was man enough to admit that there wasn’t very much he wouldn’t do for Archie anyway, prostrating his dignity in front of the Bulldogs included.
