Rudo as your baby (from Enjin's pov) — sfw, fluff.
★ Your question echoed in Enjin's mind for days. "Can we keep him?" Not as Cleaners supervising a recruit, but as family. Enjin wasn't a man of roots. His life was pure chaos with fleeting moments of peace by your side. The idea of adding a third person, especially a traumatized and angry boy like Rudo, to their equation seemed like a recipe for disaster. However, Enjin wasn't blind. He saw the way your eyes shone when you looked at the boy, a maternal expression he had never seen on you before.
Enjin couldn't say no to that.
"Fine," he gave in, the cigarette hanging from his lips. "But his training is with me. That brat has dangerous potential." It was his way of saying yes.
★ Enjin was used to being the center of your world, just as you were the center of his. Seeing Rudo nestle in your lap, becoming your shadow, stirred a jealousy he tried to hide. He complained a lot, of course.
"Another night this punk is gonna steal my spot in bed?"
"Did you make that dessert I like? 'Cause he ate it all."
"Did he call you 'mom' today? I'm nobody's dad."
Yet, his actions told a different story. He started leaving an extra portion of food for Rudo, "because he's a hungry rat and needs to eat well to grow." He watched with an approving look when Rudo fixed something broken, a hint of pride in his eyes. That boy was stubborn, resilient, and fiercely loyal to you. Even if he wouldn't admit it, Enjin admired that.
★ Enjin would never say it out loud, but he and Rudo had formed a pact that your safety was the absolute priority. Enjin noticed how Rudo always positioned himself in front, how the boy's scarlet eyes burned with pure hatred when anyone dared to disrespect you. Once, after Rudo nearly ripped out a fellow Cleaner's throat over an unfortunate comment, Enjin dragged him away by the collar, keeping them both out of your sight.
"Hey, Rudo. Listen here," he said, his voice a low growl. "Your instinct is good. But control it. She doesn't like unnecessary violence. It makes her sad. Understood?"
Rudo nodded, swallowing dryly. He didn't want to hurt you with his impulsive actions.
★ After several sleepless nights spent coming to your room, Rudo appeared once more. He stood at the door with his teddy bear blanket, waiting for your confirmation to enter. You were waiting for him, leaving a smaller pillow for the boy. On the other hand, Enjin just sighed dramatically, rolling his eyes. Ever since Rudo arrived, he barely had any time to sleep while holding his girlfriend. Despite that, he had no choice but to accept it.
"Get in here, before you catch a cold and we have to listen to you sneeze all week." he grumbled, pulling the boy into the middle of the bed. Rudo curled up at your side, nestling against your chest. You hugged him, placing the blanket over his shoulders while stroking his hair.
Enjin might complain, he might pretend it's a nuisance, but in the silence of the night, watching Rudo finally sleep peacefully, snuggled between the two of them, he felt a strange contentment. The idea of being a "family" still sounded weird to his ears, but he didn't reject it as much anymore.
★ With the kid glued to you all the time, Enjin barely had a moment alone with his girlfriend. Rudo followed you everywhere, and you allowed it. To be honest, he was getting tired of it. Sometimes, he needed to shoo the boy away, claiming they had "adult matters" to deal with. Deep down, Enjin just wanted time alone with you.
"I feel like I'm competing for your attention." he said, resting his head in the crook of your neck and wrapping his arms around your waist. "I'm not letting him sleep with you tonight."
"Enjin, he's just a child."
"He's old enough to sleep on his own."
"So are you." He heard you sigh and widened his eyes in disbelief.
"Whose side are you on, anyway?"
★ No matter what life had in store for you from that moment on, Enjin would remain by your side. He didn't see himself as Rudo's father and had no intention of being anyone's father anytime soon, but he wouldn't interfere in the unique bond the two of you had formed. There was a beauty in the way you cared for the boy, a kindness that their world always tried to erase. And Rudo... well, Rudo deserved that care. Enjin knew, from his own experience, what it was like to be loved by you. He knew the peace it brought to a troubled soul. He would never deprive the boy of that safe harbor.
When it came down to it, no matter what the future held, Enjin would be there. For both of you. And most of all, for you.
★ Rudo trusted you in a way he didn't even understand himself. The ultimate proof was letting you care for his hands, these hands covered in scars. He would stay quiet, watching your every movement as you cleaned them. You never made a face of disgust, never flinched, never judged. You only saw a hurt boy who needed care. And in that silence, while you treated him with a normality he never had, Rudo felt relief.
★ You were the calm after the storm. The only moments when Rudo felt his mind go silent were by your side. He loved resting his head on your lap, closing his eyes while your fingers ran through his white hair. Your voice, humming or quietly telling a story, was the only lullaby he knew. Within seconds, his breathing would deepen, and the boy who never let his guard down finally slept in peace.
★ He is officially your boy. In the eyes of all the Cleaners, there are no more doubts or questions. You are Rudo's "mom." Enjin still grumbles from time to time, but he never interferes in your relationship. He sees that you both found something you were missing: a home for the orphan from the surface, and a son for you, who had so much love to give.
★ Your first argument came after his stubbornness on a mission nearly cost them dearly. You didn't yell, but the disappointment in your eyes was worse than any scolding. Rudo was devastated. He spent the whole day depressed and no one could cheer him up. Not sweets, not a pile of junk could grab his attention. The next morning, you found him curled up in his bed, dejected.
"Hey, Rudo. Look at me." You sat on the edge of the mattress, making him lift his head, his red eyes heavy with sleep. He hadn't slept well at night. "I was worried, but that doesn't mean I'm angry with you."
"Sorry..." he murmured. You just opened your arms, and the boy soon clung to you, whispering a muffled "I promise I'll do better." into your shoulder. He took a deep breath, hugging you tightly.
"I know, I know."
★ Rudo watched the other children playing with what looked like beads. They were making bracelets, rings, and colorful necklaces during their break, their voices forming a cheerful and distant sound. After some excited invitations from Guita, Rudo finally joined them. In the end, with careful hands that were more accustomed to fixing machinery than handling delicate threads, he managed to make a bracelet. It was relatively small and less colorful than the others', but perfectly sturdy.
The boy looked at the accessory for a while, feeling a certain satisfaction. The colors matched you, after all, they had been chosen with that sole purpose. He imagined your reaction upon receiving it. It was a simple thing, it's true, but Rudo knew you liked pretty much everything he gave you.
"Oh, it's so beautiful, Rudo!" Guita exclaimed, her reddish eyes shining with enthusiasm. "Are you going to give it to someone?"
"To ( Name )." he thought, but said nothing. Instead, Rudo just got up and left, with the bracelet in his hands. He had someone to find.
★ One day, Enjin made a joking comment that he now had to "share his woman with another man." Rudo was scandalized, his face burning with shame and anger. "I'm not just any 'man'! I'm her SON!" His voice echoed through the room. Rudo himself seemed surprised that he had shouted. You laughed at the situation, while the two "men" in your life exchanged looks of pure embarrassment.
"What have I gotten myself into." Enjin sighed, laughing softly.
★ When the Doll Festival arrived, you joined the team with a special outfit, made exclusively for the occasion, just like everyone else. Rudo was adorable in your eyes, visibly more expressive in those extravagant clothes. Your boyfriend, Enjin, on the other hand, seemed more elegant than usual, something that, of course, did not go unnoticed by you.
And you? Well, you were simply impeccable. The outfit was a striking combination of red and black, with long sleeves that flowed smoothly with every movement. The edges were adorned with detailed floral fabrics, and the obi—a wide, structured bow—shone in tones of vibrant gold and orange, like a sunset captured in silk. A scarlet ribbon tied at the back gave the final touch, while the cross-collar neckline revealed a necklace of interlaced straps. When you found them, Rudo turned immediately. His large scarlet eyes widened, fixed on you as if he were beholding something truly radiant. Enjin, beside him, thanked the heavens internally for having such a hot girlfriend. How lucky he was.
"That outfit suits you so much, Rudo!" you said, smiling at him, who still seemed hypnotized. "And how do I look?"
The boy blinked a few times, as if trying to recompose himself. "So beautiful..."
He was completely dazed, not really knowing how to act. Through the festival streets, he took on the role of your little bodyguard, warding off with his gaze anyone who dared to get too close to his mother. Ah, yes. He really sees you as his mother. That became more than obvious, didn't it? The only one who could approach and touch you freely, without receiving his interference, was Enjin. With him, Rudo had a tolerance... but only a little.
Author's Notes: I honestly don't see Enjin as the type for serious relationships, but since this is my fanfic, I do what I want. Anyway, I can continue this (almost) Rudo saga if you guys want! I saw that a lot of people liked it and I was quite surprised. I didn't expect so many people to come and read it. Thank you! <3
Summary: You have always been like a mother to the kids and teens at the cleaners, but since getting married to Enjin and becoming pregnant, you have become even more caring.
a/n: One-shot based on this request.
There was loud chatter and laughter coming from the kitchen, and Enjin immediately knew that you must be there with the young cleaners.
And he was right.
Without saying a word, he leaned against the doorframe and watched everyone.
Riyo and Zanka were leaning against the wall, both smiling carefree, which wasn't unusual. For some reason, these two always seemed to relax in your presence, which you might call cute, but it annoyed Enjin sometimes, as they always stuck by your side and never really let him have a moment alone with you.
Rudo, Fu, Amo and Guita were seated next to each other. Guita was talking Rudo's ear off as he tried to comprehend what she was saying, while Amo had her head in her arms and was looking at you fondly. Fu just watching Rudo and Guita shyly, not wanting to intrude on their conversation.
And then there was you, cooking something in your vital instrument which was a pot. He remembered the day he asked you what it meant to you, and you told him it had been passed down from your father and held great value.
It fits, he'd always thought that. Food made you happy, and cooking for others always seemed to brighten your mood, as well as the mood of those around you.
Sitting on the kitchen counter beside you and helping with the cooking was Dear Santa. His thick eyebrows were furrowed as he concentrated hard on not messing up, while you smiled at the young kid.
"You're doing so good, Dear! I might even make you my little assistant."
At that, Dear's expression softened as he looked up at you with his big blue eyes, his movements stilling.
You adored all the cleaners, but Team Child had always held a special place in your heart. You were a lot more doting and caring, making sure that they'd hear compliments every day.
Dear didn't really show it, but he appreciated that a lot. You and Bro Santa were like his anchor, and even Enjin ended up being liked by Dear because he could tell how much you loved him.
Suddenly, he heard loud footsteps approaching quickly in your direction as he swiftly made his way over to you, holding your body close. You flinched for a second before relaxing into his embrace.
"Careful!" Enjin scowled lightly as he watched Remlin almost slam into you, had he not pulled you close.
"Sorry!" Remlin apologised, stopping abruptly and looking up at you apologetically.
You smiled and ruffled their hair. "It's okay, sweetheart. Just be careful next time."
Remlin's face lit up with joy and they continued running, which resulted in Enjin rolling his eyes and you flicking his forehead with your finger.
"That hurt..." He mumbled. You replied, "Don't roll your eyes at the kid," scolding him playfully. Then pulling him down so you could kiss the spot you had just flicked, which made Enjin's ears turn red.
"ME TOO!" There were multiple shouts in the kitchen as the young cleaners, except for Zanka, suddenly lined up in front of you, too.
"Huh?" Enjin huffed in confusion, glancing at you to see if you understood what they wanted. You did.
With a chuckle, you went up to Guita first, who had been the loudest in shouting 'Me too!' Leaning down, you brushed her fringe out of the way to kiss her on the forehead, which made her hug you tightly - as tightly as she could manage with the baby in your stomach.
"Don't squeeze her!" Enjin warned Guita, who whined and let go of you gently. The kids can't always control their strength, and your husband definitely didn't want them to hurt you or the baby.
Next was Dear Santa, whom you were about to pick up, when Enjin suddenly picked him up and held him at your height. "Seriously? I'm strong enough to hold him."
"I know, but being careful isn't going to hurt."
You just shook your head, a soft smile graced your face as you gave Dear a quick kiss on the forehead, and Enjin put the kid back down.
Each of the lined up cleaners received a kiss on the forehead. They all reacted a bit differently.
Riyo blushed lightly and a small smile crept onto her face, which was a rare sight for most people. She had let you in, and that was obvious.
Rudo's eyes became glassy when you ruffled his hair softly. He had slipped up and called you 'Mom' a couple of times, but you never minded. To you, they were your family.
Fu starting to cry as you brushed his tears away. Despite not having been around for that long, the teen was really starting to like you. Most of the time, he would walk behind you like a duckling following its mother.
Amo giggled and then glared at Enjin when she looked at him. She still couldn't stand him, and he would just keep his distance sinve you scolded him for being mean.
Remlin immediately sprinted off to draw something, grinning, as you laughed.
But that wasn't all. You looked at Zanka, who was still leaning against the wall, abruptly looked down once you two had made eye contact.
Your expression softened as you stepped forward and faced him. You engulfed the boy in a hug, which made his eyes widen at first, before slowly putting his arms around you.
"There's no need to be shy, Zanka. You can always come to me. I'll never judge," you whispered, just loud enough for Zanka to hear. He squeezed you briefly before letting go. His ears burning red as you pinched his cheek softly and kissed his forehead.
You then turned to face the doorframe and called out, "Eishia, I know you're there."
Quiet footsteps were then heard, and the girl emerged, looking embarrassed. "I-I didn't mean t-"
You just held your arms open and beckoned her to you. She started walking towards you "You get one too, beautiful," you leaned forward and gave her a little kiss on the forehead. The girl flushed deep red.
Now hours having passed, the kids had eaten and most had left to sleep, leaving only Dear, whose head fell forward, startling him awake a couple of times.
You cooed quietly at the sight and nudged Enjin to look. The sight of the child even softened his expression.
"I'll carry him to bed," he suddenly said, making you look up at him in surprise. Enjin wasn't normally the type to just go ahead and do something like that, but having seen how deeply you cared about the young ones, he was ready to stand by your side and support them just as much as you did.
With that, he got up and pulled Dear into his arms. The child leaned his head against his shoulder as the two of you started walking to Dear's room. Enjin rocked him gently once the kid began to stir awake. "Shh, it's okay. Just carrying you to bed." Enjin's deep voice echoed around the quiet room as the 10 year old closed his eyes once again.
Once Enjin had laid him down on the bed, you couldn't help but hug your husband tightly. "You'll be such a good dad," you said.
You felt a kiss being pressed to the crown of your head and heard him whisper, "And you'll be the best mom. Just look at you taking care of the young ones. Such a perfect Mama Bear."
a/n: I hope you all enjoyed this! I tried my best to give each of the kids and teens a moment with the reader.
★ Rudo had never known a mother's affection—there had never been a feminine presence in his life. He was raised solely by his adoptive father, and after losing him, he was cast out into the surface world. You, Enjin's girlfriend and a Giver, were on patrol with him when you spotted the boy amidst the rubble. You never expected your feelings for him to grow so strong once you started supervising him.
"Can we keep him?"
"He'll have to join the Cleaners soon. The kid's got talent." Enjin replied, leaning his arms on the balcony railing before bringing the cigarette to his lips.
"No... not like that."
"I'm not following you, woman." he said, raising an eyebrow. "You wanna adopt him, is that it?"
You didn't answer, but somehow, Enjin already knew. He just sighed. "My God."
★ Rudo was mesmerized the first time you ruffled his hair. His eyes widened, and he stood completely still for a moment, his stern expression slowly softening. Rudo closed his eyes and hugged you cautiously, still half-expecting rejection. When you didn't pull away, he stayed there, burying his face in your chest.
"Hey, love, have you seen—" Enjin's voice echoed through the room, but you quickly cut him off, raising a finger to your lips in a silent request. The blond stopped, a small smile forming as he saw Rudo nestled in your arms. "I'll come back later." he whispered before leaving the room.
★ The first time he called you "mom" was an accident. You were tucking him into bed, and he was already half-asleep. The word just slipped out. A heavy silence filled the room, followed by Rudo's deep embarrassment. But you just smiled, stroked his cheek, and said, "It's okay. You can call me that if you want."
He never said it again, and his cheeks still burned with shame whenever he remembered it.
★ Rudo became your "shadow." He didn't just watch you—he internalized a fierce instinct to protect you. On missions, he was always one step ahead, scanning the surroundings even though, as your apprentice, he should've stayed behind. If anyone dared raise their voice at you, Rudo would appear instantly at your side, hurling insults like a rabid dog. He didn't care what others thought of him; all that mattered was defending you.
"Say that about her again and I'll smash every one of your teeth, you bastard!" You held the boy back before he could lunge at the person, watching his arms and short feathers flail wildly. "Let me kill him!"
"Calm down, Rudo. It's alright." You then kissed the top of his head, and he stopped immediately. Rudo fell silent, drawing surprised glances from the others.
★ Rudo was still haunted by nightmares. Some nights, he'd appear silently at your bedroom door, wrapped in a teddy bear blanket, unable to sleep. You never said a word, just made space for him to lie down beside you. Enjin would grumble, cracking his eyes open as Rudo settled between the two of you. He'd raise a sleepy eyebrow, blinking slowly. You'd pull Rudo close, holding him snugly against your chest. Enjin said nothing and went back to sleep, too tired to fight his girlfriend for attention against that brat.
★ Rudo was used to having nothing, so when you gave him simple things—a warm meal, a clean shirt, or something old for him to restore—he'd freeze, unsure how to react. Little by little, you taught him that it was okay to accept kindness. He began treasuring those gifts with almost religious care, like priceless relics.
★ Rudo grew deeply worried whenever you got hurt. If you were attacked in front of him, he'd likely lose his mind and act completely irrationally. Later, in the infirmary, he'd sit in the chair beside your bed, his scarlet eyes filled with anguish and concern. He'd touch your hand, his face full of sorrow.
"Get better soon..." he'd murmur, small tears beginning to burn in the corners of his eyes.
★ Rudo misses you whenever you don't go on missions together. When he returns, he makes sure to tell you everything in detail, every little thing he experienced. He's still learning how to express himself, and for some reason, he finds it easier with you. Maybe it's your patience, or the fact that you never judge him, unlike some of the others. With you, he feels truly safe.
★ Rudo always smiles when you praise him. He gets all flustered, his cheeks tinted with a soft blush. One of his biggest goals was to make friends, and having you as his first friend felt like a huge achievement.
"Will we stay together forever?" he asked, his eyes shining with hope.
"Yes, forever," you replied, laughing softly as you tapped his hands.
Since he fell from the sky, he had never felt so whole. You made him feel welcomed, cherished. And deep in his heart, Rudo hoped to repay your kindness one day.
truly nothing more magical than finding a good fic and then going to their profile and finding out there’s a whole goldmine in there of fics just begging to be read. what a beautiful world we live in.
thinking about boyfriend!Bakugou going with you to a Megan Thee Stallion concert. he gets so hard watching you rap every lyric so confidently, dancing and shaking your ass so well that you could be a backup dancer on stage. just imagining him leaning in real close during 'Big Ole Freak' especially after you sing the chorus (Ain't nobody freak like me, did what you need like me, ain't nobody got up on they tip tip toes and ride to the tip like me) whispering in your ear, "Talk yo shit ma." Knowing damn well its gonna leave you stuttering and nervous all of a sudden.
