actually,,, the process IS beautiful isn’t it. I mean we all look forward to finishing things and sharing them as well, but when a project is completely done don’t you miss the joy of working on it? now that it’s become a stagnant thing you can look back on, often with a brutally critical eye, and not a living entity you loved and shaped and refined. weird how that happens. love the process; it’s not just The Bit You Rush Through to get to the good part. remember that love when you look back at the product. goes for things other than art too

wondering if maybe obsession with The Product (the product is not bad, sharing it is not bad) is part of the reason why I’ve always struggled to form habits…?? like, the idea in my head has always been “if I work hard at some point I will be done and get a reward” which is not,,, how it works with a lot of really useful habits, so I think the 2023 experiment will be,,, treating the process as the reward rather than clawing for excellence and wearing myself out
