Baby Jason got adopted by Selina instead of Bruce. Grew up to become one hell of a fierce tiger. Selina is very proud <3

Gale is the perfect man for the Dark Urge
A good man at his core who is easily swayed into moral greyness by power and self-interest? A man hand selected as a child to be his Goddess’s chosen? A man abandoned to die by said Goddess for his disobedience? A man with a destructive force inside him he is torn between trying to remove or succumb to, by request of his Goddess? I mean come ON! They really have so much in common.
Also, so much material for angst between them. I like to think that ResistDurge maybe comes to the conclusion that to be free of the urge they have to die. Maybe they feel it’s penance and justice for all the lives they’ve taken. So they go to face Orin and instruct their companions not to intervene in the duel. But Gale and the others can’t abide by it, they see Durge slowly losing and step in. Orin falls, Durge denies Bhaal, Bhaal kills Durge, and Withers brings them back, free of the urge at last.
Imagine newly free Durge’s outrage at BoyfriendGale’s insistence he should still use the orb and die then. Imagine Gale’s outrage right back knowing Durge was willing to kill themselves too. Imagine Durge mistrusting Mystra and disapproving of Gale’s dreams of divinity because they KNOW how cruel and unaccountable the Gods can truly be. Both of them have been playthings, and both of their stories revolve around continuing to seek that approval/power/protection or not.
Imagine Durge, who has known no warmth, kindness, or levity in their life meeting this silly sad wizard and, without memory of the dark underground temple they grew up in, being drawn to the comfortable life he speaks about. Feeling the cold loneliness of Gale’s description of his time locked in his tower in their bones, even if they have no memory of the life it happened. Durge, and Gale, making friends for the first time. Durge, wholly unaware of how out of character it is for them to be rescuing damsels and refugees doing it anyway because they like to see the funny wizard man happy, confused by how much they like this ‘doing good deeds’ thing. Durge, whose choices so far in life have probably been solely between types of weapons or choice of victims, realising hmmmm… I think I want a cat, and a pretty tower overlooking the water, and a romantic nerd of a husband who encourages me to do the right thing whilst being low-key okay with the awful shit I’ve done, because he’s open minded and unafraid of the darkness and willing and eager to understand the incomprehensible. Durge was created to be Bhaal’s, Gale was raised to be Mystra’s; they are two fallen Chosen choosing themselves, and each other, and mortal mundane life instead and obviously, I am a little bit feral for it.
Another few things on this — Durge pre-game masterminded a plot to essentially become a god via the absolute/netherbrain. I like to think ResistDurge was trying to find a way to be above/equal to/no longer helpless to Bhaal as well as please him. Trying to escape the endless bloody work of pleasing father bhaal. You think Gale is dangerous when he feels weak/unimportant and trying to ascend oh BOY you should meet Durge and the apocalyptic soulless murder cult they created trying to claw out some agency and power for themselves.
And then they lose their memories and prowess and power (essentially their EGO) and forget their indoctrination and find a way to escape bhaal anyway. Obviously all of the origin companions have toxic relationships to power and people in positions of power over them and apart from Karlach (who knows exactly who she is) all of their stories essentially play out as choosing between giving in or rising above it, so they all are like Durge in that sense. BUT — I still favour Gale because he, like Durge, has already been powerful, chosen, special etc. and lost it.
Also — Gale ‘did I ever tell you my ex is a Goddess?’ Dekarios would be I think thrilled to become Gale ‘have you met my Bhaalspawn wife who was brought back from the dead by Jergal after facing her father Bhaal, evil fearsome god of murder right in the heart of his own temple? He created her by his own hand to be a perfect agent of murder. She calls my tressym her smushums now. We met saving the world :))’ Dekarios, and no one can tell me different. Still going to be the most interesting person at the dinner party Gale don’t worry
Alright I’ll stop now I think gales verbose spirit is possessing me a little

Daniel Ings as Lyonel Baratheon in A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS
Maekar's worst trait is that he loves his children too much. It's in "This man attacked my son" and "He's my last son" and taking the side of his most disappointing children even when he knows that they can't possibly be in the right. Daeron has the right of it when he points out that Egg could become a monster like Aerion if trapped in Summerhall, but Maekar refuses to see that because he hasn't realized that love isn't always enough. It didn't save Daeron, it didn't save Aerion, it won't save Egg.
Maekar is a tragedy because he does not want to lose his children, but in holding them too tightly he already has.

Saw someone say they think the person in the foreground of this shot is Steve and if it is it makes the poses and expressions on Sam + Bucky's faces so much funnier.
alicent literally told mysaria "rhaenyra cheated on me with that blonde motherfucker and she'll cheat on you with him too!"
im sorry it's so funny to me how aemond and aegon are having a telepathic argument about which of them was their mother's favorite child and all the while she literally traded them both in a heartbeat for helaena's life weeks ago
The problem with studying the deep ocean is that humans need light to look at things, the depths of the ocean are extremely dark, and what lives there is accustomed to spending most of its time in that darkness. So when we go down there with submersibles and turn on Big Lights to see, we invariably and dramatically alter what's going on, in the same way that it's generally difficult to observe the natural behaviors of terrestrial animals if you whip out a megaphone and shout HEY GUYS WHAT ARE YOU DOING at them first.
