Only a few hours after REIRA released the music video for her overnight success song, dubbed online as the official cuffing season anthem, “Damn, I Love You”, the pop and R&B sensation has managed to top herself once again.
Today, both REIRA and Balenciaga took to their official Twitter accounts to share the news that she is now the face of Balenciaga’s latest ad campaign for the winter 2020 season, leading into the Spring 2021 season. Shot and styled by REIRA’s team in her home in L.A. the imagery features the singer wearing a white Balenciaga duster jacket hybrid, cinched by corset at the waist, and a pair of boots from the brand’s 2018 collection, while basking perfectly tanned in the sun. The corset and duster are from creative director Demna Gvasalia and her own winter 2020 collection. On Instagram, the singer also shared an image of a giant billboard featuring the new campaign, which is being displayed on the side of the Louvre museum in Paris. In her caption, she wrote that she remembers how it felt to see herself on a billboard in Times Square for the first time but, in her words,
“I made it to Paris! I can’t believe that I finally made it to Paris! This is the best birthday gift I could ever ask for. Wish I was there to see it in person.”
While this is not REIRA’s first campaign for a luxury fashion house, it is her first time designing for one. Though she’s definitely no stranger to the Parisian style scene. In the last few years, the singer has become a front row fixture at shows including Chanel, Tom Ford, and Thom Browne. Her street style swagger during fashion month has also gone viral on several occasions. Who remembers her literal head-to-toe Fendi, chain linked straightjacket last year in Paris, after a Japanese tabloid labeled her crazy for her new sound, and new ambitions? She and her manager/stylist Mari X have been wildly successful in carving out a much-needed space for REIRA within the fashion industry, and they’ve cultivated a personal style that is all her own while being inspiring to all. To say that she is deserving of this new Balenciaga campaign is an understatement. REIRA is the risk-taking, unapologetic sartorial muse we all need right now, whether she’s showing us the power of a good high ponytail and drugstore mascara, or making her mark on European fashion, from the side of one of the most famous buildings in the world.
Our editors were able to get in touch with the artist in the middle of her Halloween/Birthday party in Seoul, South Korea. Although the talk was short, and punctuated by the roar of the bass in the background, REIRA had this to say in regards to the collaboration:
“I’ve always been so into fashion, so I was completely over the moon when the creative director, Demna Gvasalia, had his team contact mine. I actually pinched myself! [laughs] I made my manager pinch me too! I remember being so nervous on that first conference call that our teams set up. I wanted to make a good impression, but he immediately made me feel right at home. At first I was like ‘Yes! I’d love to endorse your new line!’ Then Mr. Gvasalia corrected me and said ‘No, we don’t want you to endorse it, we want you to design it.’ To me, that was one of my biggest dreams come true. I admit that for a moment I thought to myself ‘Rei, you can’t do this. This is crazy. You’re going to fail.’ But I don’t give up and I never back down from a challenge. I didn’t have time for the self-inflicted negativity. I did it, and I am so proud of myself for it and love the result!”
The collection titled “SRZWA” will consist of seven dresses, four coats, five cardigans and dusters, four new pairs of shoes, and an impressive ten new handbags/fanny packs, personally drawn, and designed with handpicked colors and fabrics by REIRA herself. The brand also announced that per Serizawa’s request, half of her own personal earnings from the collaboration will go to various charities, and families in need of help due to the Covid-19 pandemic. So far, there has been no news as to when the pieces will be going on sale, but rumor has it, they will be showcasing the entire collection within the week, and launching the pre-order site immediately after. We’re wishing both the artist and the fashion house all the best of luck!
Singer Layla Serizawa, popularly known as REIRA, has reportedly been signed by American record label, 300 Entertainment on Monday. This announcement officially confirms several months worth of rumors about the singer’s intentions to return to work following the disbandment of her former band, TRAPNEST in 2013. According to an inside source, REIRA is throwing her hat into the mixed bag of western music, and is expected to be a hit.
Founded by Lyor Cohen, along with Todd Moscowitz, Roger Gold and Kevin Liles, MusicWeek reported that the New York-based record label, 300, is known for its hip-hop acts such as Megan Thee Stallion, Migos, and Gunna.
Liles, who is also the CEO of the company, said, as quoted by Billboard, "As we continue to build our international footprint, we believe there are superstars all around the world. The internet has brought us closer but we still pride ourselves on the emotional connection our partners have with their fans through their art. REIRA embodies the 300 ethos, and we are glad to have her and her team as partners.”
Meanwhile, REIRA said, "I've always believed that the magic in art is in the soul: the love and passion. Which is why it's important for me to have a team that believes in me and my art as much as I do. A good team will treat me like their family, and fight for me like one. A team that thinks and acts outside the box, and who will move the boxes with me. One who encourages me, and shoots for the impossible. I want it all, and I’m willing to work hard for it!"
REIRA is no stranger to the United States music industry. Prior to this, the singer has penned several songs for acts such as Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Normani, Khalid, and Bebe Rexha. She’s also known for her work with her former band, TRAPNEST, who brought their act overseas in 2011. Their album TRIGGER quickly climbed the charts, and their hit song “Starless Night” peaked at #3 on the pop charts, where it remained for 36 weeks. REIRA has also worked with Timbaland and T.I. for her 2013 single “Coke Bottle”.
Having more than 160 awards under her belt, including two Grammy Awards, three VMAs, 4 multi-platinum albums, a certified Diamond single, and countless Billboard Music Awards from the United States, Indonesia, Japan, and South Korea, REIRA is proving herself a force to be rec

Everyone is an alien when you're trying to find your place

more than anything, i miss you like crazy today. you were my diary. why’d you do this to me? i’m always going to ask why..
noface.
I sit across from you and stare. You’re tinier than in person than I’d anticipated. Orange washes you out, and clashes with the grown out pink tint in your hair. I secretly hate that. I secretly hate you. You stare back at me, and I feel a chill travel down my spine. You pick up the phone. You start the conversation with “I’m sorry” you always do. Even before I knew you, I knew you did. But this time it’s different. It’s not a formality, it’s from the heart. I can tell because of the way your voice breaks. You look like hell. You look sick. It’s painfully obvious that you’ve been missing out on sleep. And you know what? I’m happy. Why should you be allowed to sit here and come to terms with what you did? Why do you get to forgive yourself for leaving so many people mangled and broken in your path? Fuck you.
You speak calmly and slow. Sure of yourself, yet unsure of me. You smile sweetly, as to hide your real feelings, and in that moment, you are almost human. Almost. But then I remember your ugly. I remember your anger. I remember the cunning way you have about you, and it dawns on me “Oh shit, that’s how you do it.” This is the way you reel them in. The way you tack on strings and play puppet master. The way you devastate and rock to the core. I am silent, weak, and helpless against you. The shame is palpable at this point, yet I’ve done nothing wrong. You are at peace, and I hate it.
more than anything, i’d like to look you dead in the eyes and ask you why you did it. was it worth it?
I could say this a million and one times, and it’d still never be enough to really describe what I am feeling.
From my website/management/blog: “ Yesterday, my partner and I were fortunate enough to have fallen into true love again.
For me, this is now the third time in my life. Once in a lifetime is rare enough as it is, but to be blessed enough to experience the feeling trifold is like the universe smiling down on me like a loving parent; and I love it back.
We had a baby.
Ten perfect fingers and toes. Two very loving and happy parents. A massive family (blood and friends alike), all willing to help guide them through life along with us. And most importantly, infinite love, chances, and possibilities to be whatever their heart desires. We’ll be there every step of the way.
Please don’t worry. We’ll take good care of them. We are good people and will raise them to be good too.
For the safety and privacy of our family, we ask that we are given our space from the media. We will not be revealing the child’s name or face publicly, nor will we be reveling any other identifying information in regards to the child.
If anything at all is shared, it’ll be of no true consequence.
We ask that you kindly respect our choice, and send positive energy our way as we now face the most challenging, yet rewarding time of our lives.
Thank you, and please remember to do all things with kindness. ”

Another beautiful day spent in the purest paradise, LA! My home away from home has always been the most hospitable of hosts, and had so many things to offer! Today I awoke with a hankering for crepes and bombastic company, and I had just that. My bestie and I ventured all the way out to a local farmer’s market to get fruit for our snack, and ended up exploring a new part of town! So no crepes, but we did but fruits and veggies—most of which were locally grown. Everything was so vibrant! I loved all of the colors and vibes! I was also given sunflowers, which are one of my favorite flowers, because they face the sun like I try to when things look dark for me. They are beautiful! After loading our locally-grown haul into the Jeep, we ventured off in search of something sweet. I got a green apple snowball with marshmallow on it, but don’t knock it til you try it! I think they got blueberry and watermelon? I don’t remember, but they ate most of mine in the end. Expected. Now it’s back home to have some nice downtime and play with the four-legged monsters for a bit before I tuck in for the night. What a beautiful, amazing, happy, adventurous day. Thank you so much! Where are we going next?
