Okay so Percy and Annabeth don't know that Nico and Will are going to Tartarus. How would they react once they found out that was their plan? C'mon, give me theories.
Okay I literally have a huge-ass Fic planned for this but I think that, when Percy finds out, he gets incredibly angry. I think he and Nico try to become better friends, so by knowing that Nico is going to risk his life again to save a Titan in Tartarus, Percy gets angry. It also might partly have to do with guilt because he knows he never treated Nico with too much respect, and only now he’s trying to become friends again with Nico, so having Nico leave would make it seem like a betrayal almost because he’s only hoping to be friends but that can’t happen when Nico is pushing to go down there. He offers that he and and Annabeth accompany them but Nico says no. Then Percy asks why he’s risking Will’s life in all this and Nico’s like “I’m not bringing Will” and then will gets defensive like “I’m not letting you go down there alone” and Percy and Annabeth are like “we’re not letting you go down there at all” and because Nico and Percy are literally so powerful both Annabeth and Will are liking kinda keeping their distance because a lot of freaky stuff start happening
Anyway I’m planning on making a fic on all this since none of that was coherent
My only note- (not that you asked for my advice but I did reread HoH and wrote a whole ass reference for someone writing Will in Tartarus) is that as Annabeth and Percy left through the Doors of Death, they were crushed and absolutely heartbroken at leaving their friend Bob behind.
They owed Bob their life. They would not have left him if they had any other choice. They were 100% convinced he would basically die for helping them, that Tartarus himself would destroy him.
So to find out Bob is maybe alive and calling for help... Would they volunteer to go? Would they not want to risk it unless they were 100% sure that's what Nico is hearing? Would they decide even if Bob is alive that it's more or less a suicide mission and they deserve to live a normal life? Could they live with themselves if they ignored it?
I think maybe part of the reason Nico doesn't tell Percy and Annabeth about Tartarus is because he figures as the stupid selfless heroes they are that they'll put their life and plans on hold to help him. And they deserve a break, a chance to live a semi-normal life. Nico wouldn't want to ask that of his friends, not when he knows how traumatized they were by it.
Like... since Nico can dream travel I wouldn't be surprised if he came across Percy and Annabeth's nightmares of Tartarus. It wouldn't be fair. Hell, it's not fair to ask Will either but at least Will can experience it for the first time more prepared and mentally ready.
But yeah. I think you and everyone who are saying they'd be angry that Nico would go back and risk his life (and Will's) are correct. They'd be furious because they'd be absolutely terrified at the thought of ever returning there
Plus: the whole thing about how Percy forget his old partners (like calipso and Bob) after fights will come all over again his shoulders, and he'll be devasted.
First of all, Percy called Bob to Tartarus, not intencionally but he did. He fells completely guilty about that.
Annabeth try to share the guilty like: It was our fault, I started to talk about him, you only said his name.
But Percy completely ignores that, in his mind it's all his fault.
And Nico is going to help who he left behind for the second time.
Nico will pass trought hell again to fix what Percy did wrong.
I think it's wiser to Nico keep that in secret, but I don't know how Percy would react if he discovers all that after everything.
I made a uquiz "which rrverse character are you?" (link in rb)
Link! Hope you enjoy!
This is so acurate i'm gona cry
Like in an old song where everything’s better tomorrow ☀️
I feel like Nico is enough times in the infirmiry to have his favourite bed or corner
Thinking about how Michael Yew presumably drowned and then Percy dragged Will away to heal Annabeth.
Will reflects back on the moment several weeks later like "huh. Y'know if Annabeth drowned Percy would've absolutely gone beserk and flooded the entirety of Long Island. Not to mention he could've used his powers to sense where Michael was in the water and save him. Oh well. Priorities I guess."
But Will can't voice thoughts like that. Not without every other camper jumping down his throat about how "Percy is a hero! He made a tough call! It was a war! Michael was his friend!"
And that's fine. He didn't blame Percy for Lee or Michael's death, not really.
Heck, for a while it was as if Percy could do no wrong. Always cool. Always cute. Power couple on camp with Annabeth. And yeah, Percy was a little self-righteous at times. Still, he was an annoyingly good person. He was only ever nice to Will.
So Will never found it in himself to hate Percy, not really.
Then he disappears. A new prophecy is being fulfilled. Apparently Roman campers exist and try to attack camp. And Will finally gets the attention of someone he lowkey had a crush on shortly after the Battle of Manhattan: Nico di Angelo. Score.
And then. Oh, and then. Nico confesses he used to have a crush on- no. Used to be in love with Percy. Well. Isn't that interesting.
It takes a minute for Nico to convince Will he isn't a second choice, that he isn't just some constellation prize, runner up, since Nico can't have the great and powerful Son of Poseidon. (Aka the "strongest demigod Nico has ever met")
Still, Will wasn't jealous of Percy, not really. Not any more than anyone else at camp at least
But then... then Will hears stories. He gets every tale, every detail from everyone's point of view. Not always directly, but eventually all info gets passed around the infirmary. The medics hear all the gossip. And Nico opens up and confesses to Will as well.
And Will hears how Percy treated Nico. Over and over how their complicated relationship and Nico's crush and Percy's short temper... the time Percy choked Nico. The threats. Percy saying they should leave Nico to suffocate to death in the jar. The wonder bread. The gossip aboard the Argus II spread by Percy, leading the others of the 7 to find Nico "creepy" and not trust him. The horrible way he was treated again and again... All the while Nico sacrificed everything for him, multiple times. Percy would have never defeated Kronos or survived Tartarus without Nico.
And yeah, it was more complicated than that. Yeah, Will was biased. Nico wasn't exactly perfect either, but that didn't matter.
Because suddenly Will did blame Percy for Michael's death. His jealousy turns to resentment. Percy didn't deserve to have Nico's affections, past or present. Percy who acts like he's always in the right, Percy who everyone fawns over, Percy the hero of every story he's in, Percy who hurt the person Will Solace loves more than anyone...
Fuck Percy.
Will smiles when they interact, all jokes and singalongs and sunny laughter and friendly conversation. But deep down the anger keeps growing.
Will Solace hates Percy Jackson.
Today I read that on average 12 newborn babies are given to the wrong parents every day
Imagine either
a) doing the thing with a GOD and getting a fully mortal child but thinking they’re a demigod
b) ending up with a demigod but being baffled cause neither parent did the thing with anyone else but this is their life now
The Demigod kid is in school and one of the new students are acting a bit weird.
During the Math class this student try to bit him, the student get their face kicked by one of their friends.
Their friend puls a flaut and the earth swallow the weird student.
"what hell was that" the kid says.
"a monster, you're a demigod" the friend says.
"a m.... Wait, demigod??"
"yeah, half mortal half god. I'm a satyr btw"
"i'm not getting It"
"one of your biological parents is completely human, and the other one is a ancient god"
"are you saying one my parents is a ancient god in disguse?"
"no. They both mortals, who is your biological parent, your mother or father?"
The kid is more scared now than during the monster attack.
"they're both my biological parents"
"didn't they started dating when you were young, or maybe some months before you're born?"
"they maried one year after highschool, 20 years ago"
They came to their parents house. The kid is one step to colapse, their parents lied to them their whole life and one of his actual parents is a freaking god.
"Who are my actual parents?" Their question was almost a scream.
"Honey, what are you talking about? We are."
"You guys need to tell the truth, it's okay if you adopted them, or found them in somewhere" the satyr says.
Everybody keep the same story, the kid isn't adopted and their parents actually had a lot of work to have a baby, every info about his birthday was okay, they even have a video of their mother giving birth.
The satyr convinces the parents to send them to Camp Halfblood. The trip was full of monsters but the kid was naturally good at fighting them.
When they're almost ariving the camp, another monster come to attack them, but this time, they're completely tired.
Then a car stops by them, completely intact. A woman and another kid, aparently with the same age as them was inside the car, they're also completely fine, seemimg like they're going to a mortal family trip.
"to Camp Halfblood?" The woman asks.
The satyr smells something in air and acept the trip.
"what are you going to do in Camp Halfblood? Buy strawberries?"
"No" the woman says "i'm taking my child to Camp Halfblood because they're a demigod, even with stuff going well, my child is about the age when the monsters start to attack"
"This kid, a demigod?" The satyr asks.
"yes"
"they don't smell very demigod to me"
"but they are, i remember the god saying to me they're a god and to bring my child to camp at 12 years old"
When they get to the camp, the mortal kid don't see anything, they had to be holded to cross the barrier, it was like the Camp don't want them in there.
The mortal kid sucks in every single activity, they seems to get aftected by the Mist like mortals do. Every entidy says the kid is mortal, but their mother is so percistent, she's completely sure this kid is a demigod.
Mortal kid and Demigod kid start to be friends, they discover they where from the same city and was born at same day.
Demigod kid tells Mortal kid their family drama and Mortal kid says to get a DNA test to discover if one of them is biological or not.
When demigod kid call their parents to tell about DNA test, the parents says they investigated the hospital where they where born and discovered they where given to the wrong couple.
The Demigod kid asks if they know who are his biological parents, or who is their biological child.
Both answers was no, but they have the register of all kids from this hospital and they will call one by one to discover everything.
The demigod kid connected all the information they have. A demigod baby was given to a mortal couple, this means someone who was specting a demigod baby recieved a mortal baby.
Mortal and Demigod kids were born at the same day and the same city, probably the same hospital.
Demigod kid ask their parents to search Mortal kid and they discovered they both was switched as newborns.
Will: Be careful when you cut the onions, they could make u cry.
Nico: NOT IF I MAKE THEM CRY FIRST!
Nico: *stabs the onions violently*
Paolo Montes, the brazilian guy who don't speak english.
From all the reasons why Rick should be cancelled, this one is the one i hate the most.
I can't describe with words how much people saying this is a bad representation physically hurts me.
Okay, I'm brazilian and (duh) I speak english. I also studied in a fantastic school and had a lot of free time to learn english.
But most of brazilians don't.
From all my family, just me and my cousin can speak english (my mother is like Paolo, can understand but can't talk).
One aunt literally travel to USA once a year and don't understand anything in english. Other aunt works for a united-stadian company and lives with google translator.
Neither "our" president can speak well.
If you say that brazilians can speak english because portuguese is a harder language or any other excuse, you're actually being kinda elitist.
Portuguese is really harder and more complicated than english. But it's not easy to learn because those languages are so diferent. It was easy to me because I learned english since I was 6, my brother with 4 and internet is learning english, spanish and a bit of italian so it's not the difficulty, it's the time and contact.
Also, Paolo probably have ADH. I've never meet a brazilian with ADH, but I know two with learning difficulty. And they both studied in my fantastic school and started their english class at 6 like me, but they don't speak english.
Other thing people keep saying about his representation is the "pretty brazilian" steryotipe. I am 100% sure if Paolo got described as ugly this would be another reason to cancel him.
But the way Paolo got described as pretty is so...normal. Like yeah he have nice arms, he made Apollo blush so?
If you think that is steryotipical, you absolutelly didn't watch B99.
There's a episode about Amy's brother and they went to a brazilian club. "Those guys are security guards? I thought they where models!" And i'm 90% sure the security guards were shirtless in this scene.
This is a bad representation, not Paolo.
Anyway, I'm sorry if I sounded rude in someway, it's not my intention. I just saw another post about this and needed to share my opnion.
Paolo is a really cool character and I love his scenes.
People can talk about anything on Rick's representations, but Paolo is well representated.
Solangelo's (almost) first kiss
Nico became the camp's official healer helper.
He spend a lot of his time in the infirmary, except when he's training in the arena.
It's hard for something to distract him, and the fact Nico's concentration is so fragile near Will Solace annoys him so much.
Nico likes him a lot, Will is the most attentive demigod in camp, he cares about the others and have the same sense of humor as Nico.
The son of Hades would even maybe, teorically, hypothetically, perhaps admit to himself he crushes Will. But since the other time didn't go well, Nico won't admit anything to anyone.
They spend a long time together, working in the infirmary, in the dinning pavilion, around the campfire.
Will likes to see him training. The son of Apollo sits in the grandstand and just stares at him the whole time.
Every fricking time they cross eyes, even for milliseconds, Nico looses all his focus on battle resulting in an injury and later more time in the infirmary near Will.
"What happened?" Percy asked after another lost fight. "Yesterday you wasn't this bad."
"Yesterday Will Solace wasn't here" Nico murmured, with no intention of anyone listening.
"Dude!" Solace said from the grandstand. Because of his tone, Nico knew he listened everything. You can't trow a needle in the ground without a son of Apollo hear it.
The way to infirmary seemed to last forever, Will didn't look at Nico's eyes nor talked to him.
Of course Will is mad at him. Taken of contest, his comment could sound mean.
Will didn't say a thing while wrapping Nico's injured arm.
Will's eyes where extremely sad, like he was about to cry. Nico wanted to throw himself into cocytus, if he make Will cries, the boy won't never forgive himself.
"Will..." He tried to say. "It's not what you're thinking"
"Not what I'm thinking?" He answered coldly. "You don't even know what I'm thinking"
"Neither do you" Nico fired back. "What are you thinking?"
"I think," Will crossed his arms. "You and Percy were making fun of me. You even lowered your voice so I couldn't listen to you."
"I would never make fun about my... About anyone with Percy"
"Well, probably not making fun but... Something like I annoy you and you don't want to be my friend but is too nice to say that or maybe..."
"Are you kidding?" Nico interrupted. "Yeah, you're a bit annoying yes. But me, Nico di Angelo, too nice? Do you even know me?"
Will laughed, and this sound made skeleton blutterflies ressurect in his stomach.
"Gods I can't even be mad at you..." And he sitted in the bed in his side. "Then why did you said that?"
Nico became as red as the strawberries in the field.
"What?" Will asked.
"I can't focus right when you're near..." His voice was a whisper.
"What? Will said again, with humor. "Do I ditract you? Am I this pretty?"
"Oh C'mon" Nico nudged, trying really hard to come back to his normal tone.
"Is it my legs? Should I cover them for tomorrow?"
"Ugh, now you're annoying me"
Both Nico and Will laughted, I was good to see him okay again.
They stared each other for an akward moment. It happens a lot, actually, as if there's something they both want need to do, but none of them has courage to do it, as if there's something so understated, that it couldn't be considered implicit anymore.
Will, seated at his side, started to get closer, hesitant. Nico unconsciously also moved in his direction.
He knew what Will want to do, he also wants to kiss him, but... no.
He cannot fall in love another time.
Their noses just toutched when Nico sudenly moved away and Will stiffened.
"Sorry" the son of Apollo said getting up.
"Will..."
"It's okay, I understand" his voice was higher than the usual.
"No, you don't" Nico said. "I like you, a lot..."
"'...As a friend' I get it"
"No, Will" Nico grabed his hand. "More than a friend, way more than this. I L... I like you a lot. But I...I....I am....." Nico sighed he was never good with this things.
He looked at Will and saw pain in his eyes. Nico hates see him like this, and hates even more the fact he's the one who's causing this pain.
Coward Cupid's voice echoed through his head.
"I like you a lot" he managed to say. "Romantically and all. But in past...." Nico wiped away a stubborn tear that dared come out of his eye. "In past, my feelings hurted me really hard. And I am so scared of passing trought this all again."
Will hugged Nico. From every places in world Nico have been (and he had been in a lot of places), Will's hug is the best of all. He's always felt secure with him, and all his body heat was comforting.
"I am not a coward" Nico's voice sounded muffled trought the healler's chest.
"Of course not" Will said affectionately.
"We can do this" Nico said. "If you want." And added:"slowly."
"Slowly" Will agreed.
I want a small book about Castor and Pollux and what life was like living with Dionysus at home and then at camp.
Everyone at camp is there complaining all the time "godly parents suck! They just ignore us! They're the worst! They never spend time with us or talk to us at all!"
And Castor and Pollux glance at each other and then to their dad who's sipping on Diet Coke next to them and gives them a challenging glare back like "Well? Do you agree? Say something. I dare you."
Castor swearing by the Styx, "One time some kid at school called Pollux a slur and dad immediately turned them into a dolphin. I think we were both traumatized not gonna lie."
Pollux and Castor being crazy good actors and Dionysus is the only one who can see right through them. Instead of reprimanding them for lying or whatever he just gives them advice on how to improve their acting for next time.
Dionysus being like "listen, i will support you in all your decisions, i can forgive u for anything such as murder, but if u ever purposely use incorrect pronouns for someone I will disown u"
Castor and Pollux being like "He says he loves us even if we're cis and straight but we could always tell he secretly hoped we'd be a little gay 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️"
And I want the book to end BEFORE we get to the part where Castor dies, thanks.
Luke: join me and finally get your revenge on your father! I know how he's treated you over the years, like you're nothing, not even worth his time. We can show him and all the gods just how powerful we can be!
The twins, having a flash back:
Dionysus: here try this red wine! Just a sip, just a sip!
Castor and Pollux, lying through their teeth: oh wow. Fresh, bright, and dense. Fig and blackberry hints. Rich and fullbodied. Hmm... I'd say France from the year 2000.
Dionysus, crying with pride: that's right!! Isn't it amazing??
The twins who actually hate the taste of most wines but don't have the heart to tell him that: yes, wow, and think of how good it's going to taste 70 years from now when we can all drink it together. Better save the rest until then!
Dionysus: of course! How did i raise such kind and thoughtful children
*camper passes by the Big House*
Dionysus: you two have disappointed me for the last time! How DARE you bring my sacred drink to this camp?? you think just because you're my children you can break the rules???
*camper leaves*
Dionysus: i love you two so much, don't forget to iris-message your mother today, you know how she worries! <3
*flashback ends*
The twins: fuck you
Omg i love this
Whenever I hear people hate on Frazel, their only argument is their age gap (2 years). They also say that a 14 y/o isn't at the same level of maturity etc. Hazel is by far one of the most mature characters, even more than some of the older ones too. They also say "it's Frank's fault" etc. Y'all- She and Frank are one of the healthiest couples in the fandom- and they aren't exposed to the same things normal teens are, they're demigods, they don't get a normal life. But y'all aren't ready for that talk yet 😌💅
OP you’re absolutely right about demigods not maturing at the same speed as mortals, due to life experienced. And not only that but the age gap is actually a year and half or so
hazel’s 13 in december 1941
she dies in summer ‘42 (so 13 and 6 or 7 months)
she comes back around september of TLO (early enough to get to meet and know jason who disappears around october), she’s still 13.5
by june of SoN (Frank’s 16th birthday) 9 months later, she should be 14 and 4 or 5 months
So the age difference is a year and 7 or 8 months, it’s not unhealthy
I know rick’s shit with dates and ages, but maths don’t lie
That headcanon about Demeter's kids being the oposite of vegans
So, you probably know this one. Someone pointed that since Demeter's kids are so close with the plants, they wouldn't eat them.
And there's levels about this, just like vegetarianism and other terms i don't know how it's called in english.
There's the ones who can eat plants since they're didn't died in process. Like eating an apple, the apple tree will continue alive, so it's cool to eat their fruits.
There's the ones who thinks it's gonna hurt the tree, so they only eats naturally falled fruits.
And the others who only eats animals, especially if those animals usually eat plants (like revenging their dead friends "die grass murderer, die!").
Some people from fandom don't headcanon this because Demeter is the harvest goddess, she have totally that "plants were made for being eaten" energy (I love the way this can represents the religious anti-vegans). She could even be in pro vegan since her plants where made to serve humans, not cows (sorry Hera).
(Persephone is one of the ones who only eat meat, change my mind)
But even with this stuff, i still think that their proximity with the nymphs would convince them to take this lifestyle.
It can be even that aversion that demigods feel with their own elements (Thalia fearing height, Percy fearing drown after that time in Alaska, Nico fearing shadows- idk if it's canon but i agree, etc.).
Demeter childs who don't eat plants.
What is Demeter's worst enemy?
A cereal killer
In Underworld
Someone: Hey, did it hurt when you fell from heaven?
Ethan Nakamura: yes
Will Solace is a good actor
Even thought theaters were Dionysus' thing. Apollo's children were really good with emotions, drama in general.
They could fake any feeling at any time.
"The poet is a pretender, pretend so completely, he even pretends it is pain, the pain he really feels" Fernando Pessoa.
The poet pretends the pain he feels, but he can also pretend he feels no pain at all.
What did you expect from a child who knew the horrors of war even before he was old enough to drive? Who has seen his brothers dying in front of him?
How many died in front of him? How many did he try, in vain, to save?
How can he be so chill all the time? With all this burden?
How can he sleep at night?
He can't.
Every night it's the same nightmare: Michael's sonic arrows scream from everywhere and then it stops, Will looks for Michael but can't find him, then there's more people dying and he still can't save them.
Those nightmares started after the Battle of Manhattan. The first time he cried until dawn, so does his brothers, Michael wasn't the only son of Apollo who died.
And then he was geting older, but the dreams kept coming and coming...
"Someday they'll stop" he always say that to himself when he wake up in middle of night. "They have to do"
The Battle of Manhattan was the first one that break to him, the first pain that he can't get rid of.
But he's a child of Apollo, the same way they can externalize their pain, they can hide it.
The Camp doesn't need a head conselour who cries every day. They need someone who can stand strong.
A healer, a leader, an older brother.
If they need someone who can bring baby satyrs and destroy onagers in the same day, then Will'll take this role.
Now when he wake up in middle of night, everybody is sleeping because he's the only one child of Apollo left who fought Battle of Manhattan.
Now when his siblings come for advise, he says it's gonna be okay soon, even if for him it's never gonna be.
Now when he wake up in middle of night, covered in sweat, he only take a deep breath and lies down again, starring at the top of his bunkbed until the Sun comes up.
And then he starts to play his role as the lanky cat who he need to be.
Because he's a good actor.
Thanks to @solangeloandtheolympians for the inspiration
William Andrew Solace
Realistically, with her profession and her lack of mention, Naomi Solace probably wasn’t at home a lot, especially based off of Will’s excitement to see Apollo, someone who had quite literally never been there for him. Clearly, he hasn’t had a solid parental figure in his life. He literally took anything he could get - he was borderline desperate for someone, anyone, to look up to.
It breaks my heart
But in some ways, the reality that he didn’t have role models allows his early-found maturity to make so much more sense - and yes, he’s mature. Don’t you dare argue with that. He might tease and joke around with his boyfriend, but he was forced to grow up - not only did he (most likely) not have strong parental bonds, but he went through the horrors of a war at only 14/15, tasked with keeping as many demigods alive as possible. He had to go through that, despite being such a pure, sunny soul.
It breaks my heart
Yet he stands strong. He is an incredibly helpful + supportive boyfriend, a generous friend + ally, a physically capable individual, a courageous leader, an example to his siblings, a hard-working young man, and overall, a good person. A good. freaking. person. And who did he have to look up to as a kid? Probably no one, at least not in the way they should have been there. He learned it all on his own. He grew up by himself. And as much as it breaks my heart to know he had to learn it without any heal…
It heals my heart
…to know that despite his circumstances, and despite the horrible wars and pains and bloodshed and responsibility on his shoulders, he came out the other side, stronger than ever, better than ever. He came out the other side good, when there was no reason he should. He isn’t just The Boyfriend. He isn’t just The Healer. He isn’t just The Sibling. He isn’t just The Head Counselor. He isn’t just Apollo’s Son. He isn’t what he’s been through. He is so much more. And what’s his name?
William Andrew Solace
