Reducing costs and thinking about platforms
It seems that next class will be amazing to my project as it is about transmedia.
As I was supposed to make some research similar projects examples, I looked some of next week’s Moodle materials in advance and, as usual, I found useful stuff.
Teachers previously pointed me this project: “The Truth about Marika”. It looks like “Conspiracy for good”, which I mentioned before. Both are huge trasmedia storytelling projects going on through many platforms, apps, social media and real life events. Part of Marika story was also delivered in a real TV News report. I don't think I want my project to be that big, but another huge project blew my mind. It was this Audi campaign.
For a screenwriter it is difficult to imagine a transmedia storytelling in which high production value videos are the less important and interesting things. For me, it was amazing to see how a story can develop and catch audience’s attention through real life events, blogging, social media and news reports.
After watching this movie, I had some ideas in order to make my project cheaper. They would change a little bit the story, as instead of six characters, I would have only one.
I thought of changing my central character into a fashion or make up blogger and youtuber, who, one day, tell her audience that she suffered a scam. From that time on, her followers can see the story developing through the character’s blog, youtube, facebook etc. I guess his video has the possibility of going viral and the production value could be extremely low, as the episodes should look like self-shoot videos and the story can develop through other social media with text and non-professional photos.
Thinking about this concept and the platforms (actually social media) the project would use, You tube would have a weekly post in a fashion blogger stile, but telling the story of a scam investigation.
Facebook, twitter and instagram would have more frequent updates on the investigation process, as well as the character recovery from he scam.
The character blog would have reports that concentrates all the information available for casual users.
The character can also share her investigation calendar to users’ calendar apps, like this, they would know when to search for new information.
Waze can show the suspect near the users on city roads and deliver information through users’ messaging and alerts.
Finally, I would love to use whatsapp in some way, but I did not find out how yet.
